That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I got an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can help you..
Thanks, I am in a rush and don't know how easy it is to install the product. There are so many carts to choose from...
Install is simple. Should take you no more than 20 minutes. Oscommerce can do what you want, but if you have never used it, it will be a steep learning curve...
I have looked at them all, icluding the paid ones, I looked here last as it was a "final option" to use a free one as I thought it would be rubbish. It is by far the best, it's biggest comp is x-cart and x-cart doesnt even cum close. You have fount the best ecommerce store there is!..
Why is the learning curve so steep? If I have a strong understanding of how a cart is supposed to function, will I still have this steep learning curve to hurdle?..
If you know php, css and html there is not much learning curve, just learn the Variable, Class and functions.
But if you dont know any of those, customization can be a pain....
Now if you not looking to customize, there is not much of the learning curve either.
OsCommerce is still in development, the main focus has been functionality with little regard to ease of customization.
Now as they appoarch MS3 and MS4 is looks like most of the functionality they want is inplace now they are cleaning up the code base, moving to more OOP, and making it far far easy to customize.. but this all takes TIME..
I need to set up a iPage site for a photographer that will display about 400 photos. It will allow customers to add the photos to a overall list, a shopping cart. This, I know OSCommerce can do. However, the photographer does not want to use credit card transactions.....she simply wants to recieve an email with shipping info and a list of photos requested. She wants all payments to be made via personal check, she is very specific about this..
I am guessing that there is a "bill me" or "send invoice" option so that the client can bypass the credit card transaction phase, however, is there an option to 'turn off' the credit card phase so it isn't an option?.
I need to do this soon, so please help..
Yes, just turn off all payment methods except check/money order. You could have installed the cart and tested it out..
