I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..
Well Im on a Windows Server and I have done everything that I have been told and still nothing..
Now I feel like giving up......never thought it would be this difficult..
Im going to reload all of the files onto the Server and start from the beginning..
So now loading everything...
Well dont you dare!No-one siad it was going to be easy as with anything 99 out of 100 times it's no problem.. you are the 1!!.
Your problem will be with the absolute paths I would imagine.
Well I'm doing this for a close friends father and so need to do it. I wont give up - I will do it, I have until tomorrow to install it properly..
All files are loaded onto the server. So I just start the install process or do I need to write the configure.php files before I start?..
For some reason you have a problem on your server that will not let you install from the installer, so you need ot do it manually. Incidentaly it works much better on a linux server over a windows if you want to go on and add contributions that require linux / unix servers..
Anyway you are not far from being there now..
You need to find your absolute path..
Exampe of absolute path? I know nothing about this type of thing, sorry again!..
Right ok let go back then.
I attach a file, download it then upload it to your sever and call it. so whatever your iPage website address is plus /ab.php it will tell you your absolute path.
Ok doing that now, Thanks for help so far Nic, you have been amazing...
Ok your server does have php I take it?.
Do the same thing with this file.
It should bring up php if it's there.
Least you have it, I just ried to look at your iPage site www.mondomascots.it/ and gave a 403 error..
Does it have any index page for the main site?.
Have you searched your web control panel fot the path?.
This was dragging on so we went to MSN, for completeness heres how it was resolved..
We wrote the configure files manually and all worked fine, iPage site is now up and running...
But I've checked everything all the details are correct, Is their anything else I can do? This is my first website, I tried Zen cart but I dont like the look of it, Now I wanted to try this but I dont seem to be getting any luck..
Have you added a prefix before the database usename and database name?.
It will be your web iPage site username.
I have a small trouble with install of oscommerce. In the first step of setup process, oscommerce ask me:.
- database server.
- database name.
I write this info into the form, and then I click on "continue". After this, on right appear "Testing database connection.." with a animate gif... But I wait also 20 minutes, and setup is always "Testing database connection"..
I don't think is correct...
BEFORE start the setup process, i've created user and database on my local mysql server, and I check the data. it's all ok..
Yup done that too..
Any more ideas Plz ???..
I go to my homepage and I get this:.
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Access denied for user 'khgaifqn_osc1'@'localhost' (using password: YES) in /home/khgaifqn/public_html/admin/includes/functions/database.php on line 19.
Unable to connect to database server!.
I've checked in the knowledge base and it says: You will need to check with your iPage hosting provider the username and password required to access the MySQL database and/or check the catalog/includes/configure.php and catalog/admin/includes/configure.php files for incorrect information..
I transfared the configure. php to my cmputer through FTP (file zilla) and Ive oped them in notepad, but Im not sure what I'm looking for???.
Please can someone help me..
At the botton of the file these lines.
// define our database connection.
Define('DB_SERVER', ''); // eg, localhost - should not be empty for productive servers.
Define('USE_PCONNECT', 'false'); // use persistent connections?.
Define('STORE_SESSIONS', ''); // leave empty '' for default handler or set to 'mysql'.
