Good question... I dunno what is the answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..
What I need is not for me is for my customer, just a quick referent book or help file in how to work with oscommerce inserting products changing prices, changing picture think in that nature.
These threads might help a bit:.
I just did one to show a client how to add specials, it took me well over one hour to do screen dumps and throw it all together in a Word doc, very time consuming..
OK ... many people have done a part of the 'manual' in a .doc or whatever format ... why don't they share it with the community? If we put all parts together, the manual would be ready!!..
Yes, good idea. I'd be happy to give the one I did on "Specials', but the type of document needs to ne considered. This one doc is over 700K, only 6 or 7 screen dumps, and they are not good quality. I had to go thru the 'admin' process, do a screen dump at each step, drop into an image editor, crop what I wanted (looks messy), and then import the images into M$ Word, and add some appropriate directions for each step. (Also, I'd need to make the doc 'generic', otherwise I'd give away where our 'admin' path is, and also 'login' details of course)..
Portability is good, I know there is a PHP >PDF tool, and if you have a Word doc, you can convert it to PDF, by using the Open office product. Word docs get really big. Just thinking that it's important to make the original docs in a format that can be converted to many other formats, easily and for free (open source tools). Being able to convert to Win help files format would also be nice..
In regards to making a 'interactive' documentation, where a 'video' or such is played, these are very nice indeed. Some links to help..
Have a look at.
, it is freeware for personal or business use..
I have been able to find out some more info, which I'm sure you will find useful, for creating the documenation..
2. Jon Udell has listed some of the available tools.
3. Someone informed me about a user community around a CMS product where a lot of tutorial videos have been produced....
4. Another product that has been mentioned:.

, and in the middle table, there is an osCommerce users guide:.

You can write one, taking screen shots with text at each step showing what is necessary for the respective tasks..
