My question is Any good Medifast recipes to use for a propane grill? Many thanks for any answer or 2. Another question I got... OK.I swear I paid attention in the nutrition classes.all of them. I was told that dumping can occur if you consume something that contains over 5g of Sugar. So, I have been throwing stuff out and replacing it with all low/no sugar stuff: BBQ sauce, steak sauces, Buffalo sauces, etc. Then, I see on the side of my Skim Milk container that it has 9g of Sugar.

So, will I dump? Will carbs make me dump? I have went back through all the literature and handbooks they gave me, but I am still fuzzy on the whole dumping thing. Any help will be much appreciated..

Thanks,.

Steve..

Don't worry about non-fat milk Steve. I use it all the time. I'm a week post-op and have no trouble with it. Refined sugar is killer and anything that is naturally contained in something is okay if recommended by your NUT. Some people are lactose intolerant and lactose is milk sugar. Just my experience. I was told to.

Avoid.

Anything with more than 15 grams of sugar. That is from Vanderbilt..

All sugar is not created equal... so lactose (milk sugar), fructose (fruit sugars), sucrose (simple white processed sugars)... etc. will react in our body differently. What you want to.

Avoid.

(confirm with your medical posse) is ADDED sugars so sucrose or regular sugar that has been added to products, recipes, etc, not naturally occurring (fruit, milk, etc.) though overdoing even naturally occurring sugars can cause issues. Moderation is key... you will learn your limitations (everyone is different) and what makes one person dump won't necessarily make another, in fact you can dump on something once and not dump on it again, or never dump (some people don't)..

Here's a great article on dumping that is awesome:.

And should help explain the what's and why's..

Hope.

It helps,.

P.S. Dumping is like pandora's box... best not to open if you can.

Avoid.

... because sadly a lot of people don't dump and then what's stopping them... we're back to.

Steve:.

I also wanted to add to Shelly's post that dumping not only can it happen with refined sugars but items that are high in fat (fried foods and etc)..

I personally stay clear of anything that starts off with high fructose corn syrup such as the sauces you mentioned and ketchup is another..

Sucrose, sucralose, (splenda or artificial sweetners) can be used in moderation..

You will find that both fruits and veggies have some sugars but these are not refined sugars such as the ones found in sodas, cakes, and all that junk. Dont limit those b/c you are afraid of dumping as they are essential to our needs..

Hope.

This helps..

Lactose...milk sugar...will NOT cause you to dump...case closed...neither will fructose, which is the sugar in fruit, however, fruit has a lot of natural sugars so be careful of how much you consume, just on a level of total grams per day...they don't call it natures candy for nothing...but milk is one of those things, fat free of course, that is greatley needed...Be one with the cow...I am...MOOOOO!!!!..

Just a note on dumping and.

Willpower.

Not only do many people who have GBS not dump, but Sleevers don't dump..

That doesn't.

Leave.

Us at the mercy of.

Willpower.

The reason we have a pouch or a sleeve is because it significantly reduces the amount of Medifast food one can eat..

When we combine reduction with regular.

Exercise.

And support, we have more than.

Willpower.

Even Higher Power?.

Don't depend on the dump...or tempt it either...lol..

I choose not to dump and I haven't yet and I had my.

Surgery.

June 11th, I just try to not eat anything unhealthy and when I eat anything with natural sugars I eat very small portions such as 1/4 of a banana, 3 strawberries etc. I only eat fresh fruits nothing canned. I do drink skim milk but I don't even eat yogurt because of the sugar content but that's just me. Good luck!..

No offense Elizabeth but for some people those who are LACTOSE Intolerant - - they dump!.

That's why someone invented Soy milk,.

Lactaid.

, etc. ;).

It's all so subjective for example, if I eat something that is sugar-free it better not have 1 gm of sugar alcohol or I'll be ill. Initially it was just with one type of sugar alcohol (Xylitol) and now it's with all of 'em. I was never lactose intolerant until I had this.

Surgery.

And honestly it depends upon the amount of milk and the percentage of fat... go figure?.

I think just being aware of your body and.

Learning.

It's limits is the way to go. I do know that anything fatty will certainly make me dump. I'm trying to figure out the sugar limit thang. I LOVE this 16 oz Steaz ice tea drink... 20gms of sugar. I almost died when I realized I had consumed that.

Surgery.

And never had an issue - - go figure?.

Have a great day!.
