Ye, although you might want to make sure and wait for another member here to confirm this as I am not very confident. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the iPage guys because they can give you an answer better...
First will need to know how you password protected the admin section. did you install a contribution or use .htaccess?..
Thanks for your reply. I do not believe that I installed a contribution that password protects my admin..
When I go to www.domain.com/catalog/admin a window pops up asking for a password to Connect to www.domain.com. OS Commerce Administration is right above the login info. Might this be caused by my ip?..
Did you install osCommerce through your cPanel iPage hosting control panel? The reason I ask is because you mentioned that the login window says "OS Commerce Administration" and that is exactly what cPanel puts there when you use the "Addon Scripts" menu to install osCommerce. If this is the case, you had to have chosen your admin username and password when you first installed osCommerce..
The password you chose is encrypted in the passwd file, so unless you actually remember the password, there's no way to recover it. The good news is, since you are apparently using a cPanel host, you can simply generate a new username/password for your admin folder through the "Web Protect" link in your iPage hosting control panel...
Thanks Mary! I thought I might be able to do something like that. I'll look into it..
I have been using osc for about 2 months. Whenever I go into the admin side, the username & password are already filled in for me. I guess I checked "remember password" my 1st time in. Well, I have forgotten my password. That is not a big problem now, but it will be if I clear my passwords. Where did this password come from? At what step did I enter it? OR just is there a way to recover that password?.
(Thanks for your help!)..
You can always make a new password, in the passwd (as I call it) file. No need to remember it. Not really what you want though I acknowledge!..
