I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an anything. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you help..
I've never noticed my sid's going away after a few clicks, does that mean I have something set wrong? Why would session ids go away?.
Session IDs go away from the URL if the cookie was successfully set. So if they don't on your site, you need to figure out what's stopping the cookie. Make sure the cookie iPage domain is your store iPage domain and the cookie path is your "catalog" path. Next look to see if you're running cookie blocking software (decent cookie blockers won't stop session cookies.)..
I visited the iPage site and it works very smoothly and exactly how I'd expect it to. Session IDs accted as they should...
Well I won't lie to ya. These path things blow my mind..
I went and did some checking and the sites I develop on my local serving evidently are not configured properly but I can't figure out what the devil to put in there. I tried several different combos but none worked..
Anyway, my live sites out on the web are functioning properly and act exactly as described above... a couple clicks and the sid goes away..
I've been putting together carts almost constantly for the last six months and have never noticed that before..
I love this forum. I always learn something everytime I stop in plus I get to help out a few folks here and there. Boy talking about going from a zero to a hero..
Thanks for pointing this out for me..
Thanks! I'll let it be. I'm trying to figure out why some customers have a problem at checkout-shipping.php. There are many times where a customer can't get passed that page...they never make it to payment. Thought maybe this might have something to do with it..
I've tried posting about that specific problem but no one here seems to be able to figure this out. Very frustrating..
What are the pros and cons of forcing cookies? I have it at false, but I am wondering if I am hurting my business in anyway, because of this?.
Any insight would be helpful..
Forcing cookies is something you'd do if you have a special need. I'd guess that 90%+ of installed sites don't use that option..
If your set up is working correctly there's no reason to suspect that you're hurting sales..
Does the session id show at first, then go away after a few clicks? If so, everything should be OK...
