Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstenance from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

Getting the banner:.

1. Copy the following text using your favorite method:.

Morning thanks for starting us up!!!.

I had my weekly weigh and I'm down 4 bls!! After a 1 lb last week that is awesome. Just 1.6 to move to "overweight"..

Today is my volunteer day at school so I'll be on my phone only. I finally got the guts to ask my Mom if she'd like to stay in our house here in NC when we move (I was afraid she'd think we didn't want her to come with us). She's going to think about it and let me know before I go to visit Eric next month. There are pros and cons for both of us either way..

Morning, all! There's no way I'm caught up after being away for the weekend. I've skimmed yesterday's posts, but I hope to get caught up later this morning..

We had a fun time, the band was great, but the whole bar atmosphere just doesn't have the same appeal it used to. Staying up late, putting up with the noise, bah..

We stopped at the outlets on the way back and I got an awesome pair of shoes, though...

Good morning, TLers! I wish I could say I'm up this "early", but I'm actually up this "late". Yugh. I have random bouts of insomnia, and I have a prescription sleeping pill that I can use, but I only like to do that if it's been a couple nights in a row of bad sleep. And by the time I realize I can't sleep, it's way too late to be able to take the pill (well, and still be able to function in the morning, that is!). Oh well! Three more hours and I have to go get allergy shots, anyway. Then a full day of class an I'll be home by 4:45, at which point I will fall into bed and sleep for 2-3 hours and completely screw up my sleep schedule again! Hehe.

Only a few more months!.

On a brighter note, I had a weekend of MAJOR temptation and I did SO well! Yes, I felt a little pouty when surrounded by a buffet of Chinese sludge, but it had nothing to do with not being able to eat it- it was just that I had been all ready to go to a seafood place and was stoked to have some salmon. The euphoria hit, though, when I realized that it hadn't even CROSSED MY MIND to eat what the rest of our group was eating! I would have loved to have it, but there wasn't a time when I had to talk myself out of eating it. I couldn't believe how excited I was. And PROUD of myself!.

Now the question becomes, do I try to sleep for two hours or so, or do I push through?.

PS Sorry my posts are always a novel. I swear I don't always write this much! OK, I probably do, but I'm working on it..

Penny - Shoes! I don't go out much anymore either, my friends are still into pub crawls and clubbing and all that, but I'm so tired of it all. We'd sooner stay in and read or watch TV on DVD..

Hi Jess, isn't that a great feeling? Not deprived, just different?.

Today is my weigh in day and I'm down 1.4 pounds! That's my smallest loss yet, but I'm still happy about it. I'm down 1/3 of my goal! I've been considering rewards and I think, since I don't need anything, that I might sponsor a dog rescue after every 10 pounds lost from the place I got my current rescue pup from..

Also, my inlaws run a kennel and they have a dog that's been abandoned there, a young chocolate lab. I'm considering taking her, but I'm not sure - she needs to be dog, cat, and kid-friendly. And DSO is not into the idea..

Today, so far, I just feel like death warmed over, not as crappy as this past few days..

My DH suggested that his Resident leave early yesterday. DH could tell he was coming down with this YUCK (technical term). All the pts/inmates yesterday were exposed, so, we'll see what happens in that petrie dish..

Hi everyone!.

Had a great weekend-I got a lot of spring cleaning and purging done to my house. I got rid of a bunch of old frumpy clothes. I just bought new clothes for the summer that I can alter really easy-Im short so I'm used to breaking out the sewing machine. I had been wearing old beat up tees and old sweat pants-everyday(I call it my mommy uniform). Going through my clothes I found a skirt that I love and wore on my honeymoon and now-it fits!.

Morning all... will not be weighing today because I worked all night and will be up all day... will weigh in the morning. Crazy night at work, helped bring a new baby girl into the world. Did manage to get all my meals in OP, but it kept me from my water, so going to down a ton today..

Morning all! Congrats to the losers! I love reading the loser posts on Monday since we have so many weighers that day..

I decided to not weigh today. TOM came yesterday and after my almost 5 lb loss last week, I didn't expect too much for this week anyway. I figured it was better not to weigh than to weigh and see bad numbers which would cause my PMS to be even worse..

I may peek at the scale at the end of this week once TOM has left the building unless I can actually just make it to next Monday..

Ok you old timers, I have a question for you. Out of laziness I've always weighed my veggies raw and then cooked them as needed for a recipe. Recently I decided to actually cook them first and then weigh them and track them cooked rather than weighed. So I'm totally on plan today, no maintenance bar, and yet my carbs are in the 90s. I looked at each meal's nutritional info and my carbs are high because of all the cooked veggies..

I know we're supposed to weigh/measure them cooked if we're eating cooked veggies, but how the heck can I stay in the 80-85 carb range?? I don't want to under-nourish my body, but man.....

Morning gang! Didn't check in the last couple of days, haven't had the time to read with all my school work and I like to be present in the threads versus just posting something quick and then ignoring the rest of the thread. Ignored all the sludge and no BLTs. Weighed in this morning (I'm a daily weigher but I use Mondays as my official weigh in/ticker update day) and was down 2.2 lbs. Back in Onderland! Woohoo!.

Sassy - I can honestly say I have not, ever weighed my veg. Not once. Why? Because the QSG tells me my serving is 1/2 C of cooked veg, not XXX g of cooked veg. I eat a lot of high carb veggies. Tomatoes, broccoli, asparagus, etc. I still come in way under my 85 carbs each day.

I've found that a big handful = about 1 cup, maybe a tad more. Lettuce is the only veg I eyeball..

Your post just reconfirms for me that weighing is NOT necessarily the correct answer for veg..

What can I say. I'm a "by the book" girl. If the QST told me I needed to weigh my veg and could have X g of them, I would. But it doesn't...

Sassy, I too measure rather than weigh. But I never felt that I had to stay under 85. I could ride right up under 100 and still lose fine. The plan guidelines say 80-100. Medifast says 80-85 is "optimal" but everyone's body is different. Some people actually find they lose faster at the higher end of 80-100..

So measure, COOKED, and as long as you stay OP don't worry about the numbers. They sort themselves out. And I figure shaking things up helps keep the body guessing and losing anyway...

Hello everyone!.

Super busy softball weekend. I ran a pitching clinic ALL day Sat and Sun for 100 girls. So, here I am Monday morning... tired and sunburned (even with sunscreen), but happy to have helped so many girls..

I didn't get a chance to check the boards or log any of my meals this week, but I did great! Especially considering I was away from home for almost all of my meals..

Thanks D and Freya! According to the Medifast tracker 1/2 c of cooked mushrooms is 5 g of carbs while 1/2 c of fresh mushrooms is 1 g of carbs. Even throwing aside the weighing-vs-measuring debate, this makes a big difference in the number of carbs I get in a day. With 2 T of half and half being my healthy fat, my 5 Medifast meals, plus cheese and egg beaters as my lean I'm at 91 g of carbs for the day..

I just want to make sure I do right by my body and give it the nutrients it needs, but I don't want to kick myself out of ketosis. Maybe I'm overthinking it, but the 91 g of carbs doesn't even include a snack, a maintenance bar as a meal, or any condiments. I'm fine with being at 99.9 g of carbs as long as I don't kick myself out of ketosis..

Sassy, just stay OP and I promise you it'll be okay. I am pretty sure I didn't leave ketosis until I was up over like 115g/day - and that took some hard work in transition, eating 3&2, higher-carb veggies, fruit, AND a maintenance bar...

Well dd is making dh dinner - I kind of like this arrangement - that way all I have to do is make my L&G and not worry about subjecting anyone else to it. At least not every day..

Ha! Gosh Freya, that sounds like hard work.

I'm thinking I should probably save maintenance bars for raw veggie days just to stay on the safe side. Plus, my eggbeaters and cheese add to the carb count..

Looking forward to the hard work of leaving ketosis one of these days...

Yep. Totally agree Freya..

Sassy - Of course cooked veggies will have more carbs because a lot of the water cooks out and you get more by volume than raw. Eat your meals per the QSG. I promise you, you will get all the nutrients your body needs. I have to really control myself when the "weigh brigade" jumps in about how much you are shorting yourself if you measure and how much MORE you get if you weigh. My opinion? 3 half cup measures of any veggie is a ton! I still say if that was MF's intent, then it would have been spelled out as grams of veggies rather than cups..

Measure in cup or weigh? I do both, depending on what it is. Sometimes I will weigh if I'm not sure about the size of something....like spagetti squash....which I worry about in terms of carbs. I also weighed fruit when I added it back in, so I could be sure that I was counting my calories carefully. I think measuring worked well in 5+1, but I had to start weighing more in transition and maintenance. I always eyeball lettuce, celery and cucumbers. They are fairly harmless for me...

Cold/flu/yuck-BAD!.

Energy super low. DH is a gem. I love him so much. Checked on DD1 and Family. Both parents sick with this flu also. DGD1 seems fine so far.



I love my bed and the herbal teas I am sipping all day..

Hi guys, slow day in here! My DSO just said that we can learn more about the dog left at her parents' kennel and if she sounds like a fit, go meet her and see how the wondermutt likes her..

There is one condition though-that 2 dogs is the most dogs we will have. I replied that I can only have 2 because I can only walk 2 big dogs at once, then said...well, actually, if I got small dogs instead of this new big dog, we could get a few more, I'm sure I could walk 1 big dog and maybe THREE small dogs..

I'm emailing FIL tomorrow to see what the deal is on this dog and if she could work out. This could be a very bad idea, but then again, it might work perfectly. Problems between 2 big dogs can be more difficult than squabbles with little ones, but I always get big hardy dogs. It will help that my dog is a mellow male, and she's a young female. He should loooove her...
