Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstinence from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

Good morning everyone! I managed to get stuck at work for an extra shift. It's ok though because I planned ahead and brought extra meals and we have a 24 hour place where I can always get a grilled chicken salad..

I think I missed welcoming a few new people yesterday too, sorry!.

It's a great morning I lost a lb overnight so and in fact reweighed about 8 times to be sure my scale wasn't broken. It was one of the few times I've stood there in awe, I've lost that much overnight before but today it was surreal..

One of my boys if off school so he and a friend are splitting the day half at his house and half at my house. I'm going to do disk 3 of P90X and get some sleep I woke up at 330 to use the restroom and smelled smoke. Turns out I should have watched the news yesterday b/c about 30 miles away on base there was a wild fire. Sounds like it's out now but I have a lot of friends that live close to there. And the wind brought us all the smoke..

Anna - I've been reading about you doing P90X and I'm totally inspired. You and I are about the same weight (Congats on the 1lb!!! And for being out of obese!!! I still have a ways to get there!) but I really don't think I could do those dvd's yet when I've read how Aston Kutcher says how hard they are!! You go girl!.

You come here first and let us try to talk you down. We're a fun group, but we're strictly business at heart. As for the sparkles....

I haven't tried the SB Tribute blend - I know time is running out. There was free SB last night at my little girl's school function. Had we known earlier, we'd have hung out around the coffee booth. The word on the street is that a young boy won the earrings I donated and gave them to him mom who loved them! There were lots of people there and time went by fast. My little one took an interest at the Girl Scouts booth. I will NOT be a c**kie mom..

I'm roasting a turkey for dinner tonight. I had one in the freezer and I took it out on Monday. It's finally thawed, so it looks like turkey tonight. I butterfly it and it cooks in about 90 minutes. An 11-pound bird in 90 minutes. Gotta love that..

I did P90X at 235 lbs with my dh. I modify anything I need to. I don't/couldn't get through the whole things (especially cardio, I'm better at the strength days) but I only like this kind of high intensity work out, I don't like normal exercise. It's dripping sweat hard even for my dh who is an athlete and has to stay in shape for the Marine Corps. You can do it! They show you how to modify modify modify..

Welcome Karen- I did p90x last summer- Anna is right you do what YOU can- I did it with a friend so it was more fun- just something to remember losing weight is 85% WHAT YOU EAT!!! I gained weight doing P90X- mainly because I did not change my eating (at all) I used p90 as an excuse to eat what I wanted....BAD. I am actually looking forward to doing it again this spring! I am letting Anna inspire me now..hehe.

Stay away from the fire!.

I have missed all you losers!! But the weather has been so darn beautiful here that the minute I can get away from work and the computer I am outside enjoying it! Took my bicycle out for a spin for the first time since losing 1/2 a person and it was wonderful to glide along in the sunshine feeling fit!.

Transition is going GREAT with no weight gain and no problems, I'm happy to report. Keep fighting the good fight, TLers, it is so worth it!.

Anna - in all the time I've heard about P90X I have never once heard that they really emphasize modifying to fit your needs. Thank you so much for saying that! I might consider it after I reach Onederland and "overweight" like you have..

Hey on Elizabeth Taylor, I remember a lot of people saying they have never seen an ET movie. PLEASE check out Cleopatra, Giant, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Taming of the Shrew. She was awesome in each! And each is a classic. You really shouldn't go through life without having seen these..

So I was down another -.9 this morning. Loving it! I also got in my shipment of Torani sugar-free syrups. I already had hazelnut, and I just got Brown Sugar Cinnamon, Gingerbread, Coconut, and Pumpkin Pie. Figured it would help bring a little different flair to some of the shakes, but actually tried the BSC in the pancake mix today and WOW - french toast for sure. I figure after 12 weeks a little flavor variation might be a good thing from time to time. But I don't want to get dependent on them..

I've never done P90X, but I do CrossFit and that is very tough. Many military people swear by it. I started CrossFit last September/October and I was about 260. You should try P90X if you really want to. As others said, you can modify if needed...

Okay, kids, here is how I do my turkey. I found this recipe in Prevention magazine a couple Thanksgivings ago. Although it's not the Oooooh and Aaaaah looking turkey when you bring it to the table (looks more like roadkill), the speed and tenderness sold me and I don't think I'll ever make the traditional turkey again! Be sure to claim the breast meat as your own and remove the skin!.

[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']Pennys Butterflied Turkey[/font].

[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']One 8- to 12-pound turkey, fresh or thawed completely, giblets removed and discarded.

10 or more garlic cloves, lightly crushed.

Several sprigs fresh tarragon or thyme or several pinches dried.

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil.

Salt and freshly ground black pepper [/font].

[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']1. Heat the oven to 450F. Put the turkey on a stable cutting board, breast side down, and cut out the backbone (use heavy kitchen shears to cut on each side of the backbone, cutting from front to rear). Turn the bird over and press on it to flatten. Put it breast side up in a roasting pan that will accommodate it (a slightly snug fit is okay). The wings should partially cover the breasts, and the legs should protrude a bit.[/font].

[FONT='Arial','sans-serif']2. Tuck the garlic and the herbs under the bird and in the nooks of the wings and legs. Rub with the olive oil and sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper.[/font].

Good Morning TL'ers!!.

I'm happy to report I'm not as crabby today!.

Probably because I'm OFF until Monday and can just relax today! (I have pet sitting tomorrow and Sunday but that's not "work", especially since I can take my dogs to play with their dogs and it turns into a doggie party!).

I'm very glad I live close to the Medifast warehouse as I always wait almost too long before I order. I ordered late Tuesday night, got the shipping notification Wednesday, and my food was here before 10am Thursday! Gotta love it! (especially since I was out of a lot of good stuff and eating through the stuff I kinda have to gag down).

I'll be on and off all day, between surfing the 'net and doing nothing at all. Have a great OP day everyone!.

Caliborne - I'm impressed with the P90X, I keep thinking it's too intense for me haha. I need to ramp up my exercising again now that the ski slopes are closed for the season *sigh*. I was thinking of digging out my Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, but am definitely looking into the P90X. Do you find you're bulking up more or is it toning?.

Nancharity - Biking! I'm thinking that might be my new springtime hobby to take up. Nothing crazy and I'm not the best biker but it's also another sneaky and fun way to get in some exercise. Do you go mountain biking or just around on roads/trails?.

TKD - Ahh! Elizabeth Taylor - she will be missed. If it hasn't been mentioned yet, the original "Father of the Bride" is definitely worth checking out. I saw it with my mom about 1 1/2 months ago on Turner Classic Movies (I'm a dork, yes) and it was FANTASTIC. She was stunning and it was so funny, like the re-make!.

I'm happy to report work has finally calmed down and I'm gaining some of my life back haha. The scale FINALLY budged this morning - down 0.2 but I'll take it haha. It's been sitting at 154 for about a month now. Apparently, I didn't update my ticker so it showed a greater "loss" for this week LOL (that was a nice surprise!). My TOM came yesterday so maybe next week it'll move a little more. If not, *sigh*, I will patiently wait for that darn scale to cooperate..

Penny - Thanks for sharing that. I almost never cook turkey outside of holidays. This sounds good and easy. I think the only think I would change would be to brine the bird first. Since I have a DH that's a butcher, getting a butterflied turkey should be no problem..

Oh, I can't even begin to catch up, so here's a generic, good work, good luck, and good morning, thank god it's Friday..

I joined a CSA today, it starts in May and runs through October. Here's what a CSA is if you are unfamiliar:.

I was trying to get into an organic one, but the folks didn't respond, so I chose one instead that allows me to pickup my share right by my office. Although some of the produce will definitely be off plan, I can feed it to DSO, share it with my elderly neighbors, can it, freeze it, or feed it to the dog or the chickens. I'm just excited to have local produce! I figure that by staying OP, I'll reach T&M within the time that we're getting CSA boxes, and I'll be able to go into T&M using some of my CSA harvest..

It is pricey, works out to about 25 dollars a week, but that's worth it for me to avoid the grocery store...

I live within riding distance of a 50-mile bike trail that runs thru 3 counties, and it is BEAUTIFUL all along the trail. Of course I have never done the 50-miles in one ride! It's a great resource and is also connected to 3 county parks. I definately recommend bike riding for low impact, fun exercise..

And how could I ever forget Father of the Bride. It's definately one of my "must see every few years" movies! She is so beautiful in it! But I don't even think she was 20-years old yet when it was made!..

Morning TL'ers......

Spent some time reading the MC threads of yesterday....I can just say I am glad I found you guys when I did. It's scary out there........

Had a great NSV last night....When I wanted to scream at every person in my household because I was so stressed out, I went for a run instead. Week 2 Day 3 of my Couch to 5K.

I felt better when I got back home and all was right in the world again....without sludge. Oh how my life has changed in the last 11.5 weeks......

Bobbie, that coffee combo sounds great. Unfortunately, the people here who ORDER the coffee don't DRINK much of it, so they often run low or run out of the good stuff. I love Lake and Lodge, but all we've had lately is the Breakfast Blend (too light) and the Vermont Blend (passable). Sometimes I'll just pick up a box of my own. I have ONE Sumatran Reserve left for an emergency. Luckily, we can pick how much our cup holds, so in my 16-oz.

And a 6 oz. for a little extra strength..

And for those of you who don't drink coffee, that whole last paragraph didn't mean a hill of beans...

You can modify to do what you want. Mostly I just feel better. When I did this with my dh we only got through week 3 then he left for Iraq and took the dvds with him. I just started again two days ago and really I'm getting through about 1/2 of the workouts (and tomorrow is Yoga which is the most irritating one of all but I feel the best after it). The women I know who do it get muscle definition but don't look like bodybuilders...

Bobbie, I LOVE LOVE their Empire Kosher chickens. A bit spendy, but the flavor is unreal. We even did a taste test. I bought one of the Empire and one of the TJ Organic. Cooked them both and compared them side by side. No comparison..the Empire chicken was amazing...

De, if you do, try it without brining it. Because it's Kosher (I'm sure you know this, but saying it for anyone who may not) they do salt it and I swear some of the salt goes into the meat. You'll see what I mean when you eat it..

I seldom brine chicken. Just turkey. Sometimes, but not often, pork depending on the fat content, the size, and the way I'm cooking. I think the only time I brine chicken is when I'm cooking it on the grill, because it tends to dry out faster than roasting. I definitely brine pork if I'm grilling. There is nothing I hate more than dry chewy meat.

Bobbie, it is a whole chicken that I am referring to, but they also have Empire chicken pieces. I did purchase the breasts and they are delish too..

You know, I think about this a lot and I know I'm not the first to notice this, but when I read people's posts, I have a habit of looking over at when they started and the weight loss they have achieved. No coincidence that the ones who choose to be casual about this plan absolutely have slower losses. Yes, I know sometimes that is just the kind of loser that they are, but I also think it has to be connected often. Just a useless observation of mine...

Hi to everyone else, I'm sure I missed a ton coming in to eight PAGES of posts!.

Second day of pediatric stuff for the DH so he's gone all day, may not even get home before I have to leave for work. (Definitely won't if I get called in early.) Had a crap paycheck this week so I need to check my stub when I get to work, it doesn't seem right. The good news is once I'm done with my three shifts, I'm truly off work until the following Friday unlike this crazy week (which will at least make the next check bigger. Sigh. Why can't people just pay me without me having to pull all the shifts?? LOL).

Down a little bit more today which made it 1.7 for the week according to Bodybugg. I'll take it! Soooo looking forward to seeing the 180s!!!.

I'm on a tear, so I've got the kids CLEANING (no school today, their spring break started today plus all of next week.) because I just can't take it anymore!!! Patrick is being a flirty little goof, which is good for mama's mood!! Have to go get a birthday present for a classmate of Amanda's, party is tomorrow. No clue what to get the child. If I had a functioning car I'd take advantage of the rare nice weather and drive in to Lewiston (90 miles away) and go shopping, but alas, the wagon is being balky... heck, I'll have to walk to work tonight! Glad the weather seems to finally be turning. But like I told the kids, I would like to start gardening and I can't do THAT until we get this inside mess sorted out...

I mean, how many times have I said that there's different kinds of advice here, and you take the kind that works for you? How many times have I said that people communicate differently from different regions/cultures/classes/educational backgrounds/etc and that it's best to assume we're all here trying to help in our own ways? How many times have I said "gee, isn't it great what a bunch of nonsense gets stirred up when you take a bunch of addicts in different stages of recovery (or not recovery) and put them all together on the interwebnets"?.

But you know what? Look at the posts on the booze thread recently. Ella: Yes, RNs see the worst of the worst. I just got a call from one of our ER nurses. She works for Legacy in their ER .6 a week and works for us the rest of the time. As for the sweet taste, no, I never really got it. I remained hungry much of the time, too. On the other hand, I had huge energy and consistent losses, so I'm thinking I was in ketosis. Just my own version of it...

I have the sweet taste almost all day, every day. I don't like how it tastes either, but I take it as a sign that I am burning off my rolls. I tried even more water, but it's just always there. Most mints and gum have carbs, so I'm living with it..

When it is gone for a few hours, I think 'oh no, I'm not losing anything right now!' Of course, that's probably not true, since plenty of people lose a ton without any saccharine taste in their mouths...
