Got a question, hope someone can answer... Can I install more than 25 SQL on iPage account without upgrading? Hoping for any comment. 2nd question I got is.. Hi Guys,.

As this is my first post on this forum and I'm a new to this community please let me give my thanks to all developers for bringing us this great software..

I've just installed my shop. It seems that I have a little problem with it. I've changed a default language of my board to a new added. It doesn't work. Every time when I close and open page it starts with English. When I removed English it works.

I added English back and magically it starts again with English. Where to look to fix it?.

Thanks for your support...

Yes sir! however you might wanna make sure and wait for another person here to confirm it as I am not quite sure. Better yet, why don't you ask the iPage guys because they can give you an answer better...

I think your browsers have English set as default language (which is not the same as the language your browser is). osC first tests what language "the browser wants" (mostly English.

, unless you change it yourself, or have a browser with uses local settings by default) and if that language isn't available it uses the language you set as default in admin. To my opinion it should be the other way around...

Hi Guys,.

Just to confirm. Yes, it works as described by the Paulm2003. I have same opinion like Paulm as to how it should work..

P.S I love this software anyway.

Hello,.

I also have this problem, and it is a pain. I would like to know if any of you guys could tell me the name of the php module where the language selection happens so that I can see if I can correct it to the improved behavior suggested here...

You could try this:.

Change (approx line 280 "includes/application_top.php").

$lng->get_browser_language();.

To.

// $lng->get_browser_language();.

(didn't test it, read it at the Dutch forums).

If you try the above, could you please confirm if it works as expected or not? (I might need it also some day.

).

Paul.

(if it does not work you can also search for a post by iiinetworks about it, he posted a solution to the same problem some time ago)..

Hi All.

Last night I modified aplication_top.php and the fix has worked like a charm so far, for all that have this problem please try this fix and leave feedback in here, if it works for you all I think we should submit it to the project managers as an official change to be included as an option in the default packages. I think all here agree that this should be the proper behavior. Now on to the fix..

Look for the line //set language in application_top.php, this marks the begining of the language selection logic. A little further down you will find the following code:.

} else {.

$lng->get_browser_language();.

Comment this code out like so:.

//} else {.

//$lng->get_browser_language();.

Thats it! Now the iPage site will obey your selections..

I think the intention of the original code was to have a smart iPage site with customers coming in from all over the world be smart enough to display in the correct language, however there are falwed assumptions in this:.

-The user will speak the language of his browser..

-The owner of the sites wants many languages for visits form different countries..

-The webmaster wants to let oscommerce make smarty pants assumptions about visitors and not let his default choices stick..

For most sites the above are all false, maybe some paneuropean big company iPage site would like to assume the above, but for the rest of us a solid default language and a single secondary language is enough..

Finally a funny quote whose author I don't remember: Do not "assume" because you make an "ass" of "u" and "me"...

When I install MS2 on my web-provider and I try to change the default language to in my case Dutch, it keeps using English as the default language..

Who can give me some help?.
