First off, Can you publish videos to iPage? Looking forward for any answer. Another question... Hello.

We have had our online store running fine for some time. Yet today when we went online we noticed a pink bar at the top of the page that reads.

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/hercs/public_html/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file..

We have not changed any settings and no matter what setting when changed the configure file to this warning does not go away..

Are there any other files or folders that may need changing that might cause this message?.

The iPage site is still function fine but this message would potentially leave visitors worried about shopping..

Thank you for any assistance..

Ye, however you might want to make sure and wait for another member to confirm it as I am unsure. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the iPage guys because they can give you help better...

You could use my CHMOD contribution to sort this.

Thanks for the prompt response. I hadn't tried this yet but have now logged in and see exactly what you are talking about. I had never thought to go via this route. The file in question (includes/configure.php) appears to be set correctly (644) so I am not sure what the setting should be changed to. At this point though I am not even sure of what the correct file permission should be set at and for which files. I am going to search around the forum for this.

If you haven't changed anything to have caused this error message to start appearing, I would contact your host, explain what happened, and ask if they changed something on their end that would affect permissions..

It makes me nervous when things change all by themselves. If your host hasn't changed anything, I would suggest looking very closely at your iPage site looking for any new or modified files...

Point taken. And as mentioned, nothing was changed by myself or anyone else to my knowledge..

Thanks, I will make a call shortly..

Hi - glad I found this post! I've just done a brand new install and I'm getting the same error..

"Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/fhlinux142/t/ This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file".

I've used CHMOD to change the permissions to 644, 444, 600 and even 400 - but the error won't go away..

Is it just stupid 'fasthosts' server settings?.

Is it serious?..
