You betcha! although you might wanna make sure and wait for another person to confirm it as I am not very confident. Better yet, why don't you ask the iPage guys because they can answer your iPage question better...
Now I am getting this after doing the above....
Welcome Guest! Would you like to log yourself in? Or would you prefer to create an account?.
Not what I want. What did I do or not do?..
My guess would have to be that You have used the online filemanager to edit the file, there are known issues with using the online filemanager to edit files, one such issue is the removal of baclslashes from the code which are used to escape apostrophes such as let's which needs to be coded as let\'s. The error will result in a parse error..
It is better to use an ftp program such as ws_ftp to download the file edit offline then ftp upload to the server..
The minimum that you should have is.
You can then add your own text.
Define('TEXT_MAIN', 'Whatever you want in here as long as you escape any apostrophe with a backslash \ you can have tables and html or php in here as well provided that they are coded correctly');.
These are the places that have had the backslash removed.
Define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Let's See What We Have Here');.
Define('HEADING_TITLE', 'Let\'s See What We Have Here');.
Define('TEXT_BUY', 'Buy 1 '');.
Define('TEXT_BUY', 'Buy 1 \'');.
Define('TEXT_NOW', '' now');.
Define('TEXT_NOW', '\' now');.
Define('HEADING_TITLE', 'What's New Here?');.
Define('HEADING_TITLE', 'What\'s New Here?');..
Let me see if we are on the same page... I am using IPOWER to build my iPage site and I went into the index.php file via the file manager on my vdeck admin site. Would this be considered editing the file while online? If so, then I need to download the file to my desktop, remove all the html and add what you suggested? Then upload it back into my vdeck?..
Yes I have experienced similar issues with the vdeck file manager more so in adding blank lines when editing which results in a headers already sent error, however you can also get the parse error..
I find that it is better to download or if using ws_ftp you can set programs to be associated with file extensions for editing...
Once again, I am fairly new at this. So ws_ftp = ??_filetransferprotocol? Would this be something I would facilitate via vdeck or would I download the index.php file using the file manager on the oscommerce admin site?..
Ws_ftp is a file tranfer program that you can use to download upload files or if setup properly actively edit online. The program can also be used to set the permissions on files and directories. You can do a google search for information on this and other such ftp programs..
You can use the vdeck or osc file managers to download the file for edit offline or use an ftp program to do the lot.

Thanks alot Steve! Hold on tight! I'm Jumpin in!..
Hello, Could someone please be kind enough to tell be how to do this? Change the text in the center of the "online catalog" page so people don't think my iPage site is for learning purposes:). I have tried to adjust the text in.
[path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php.
A number of times and no avail... Ex. I try to just change the highlite stuff and I get a mess. I clear the html from the entire file and I get heading and text_main still appearing. Please be gentle...I'm very new to this, but at least I was able to get into the index.php file like it said to do so I think there is hope yet...
Yes, I am beginning to read the other posts and it is starting to make sense...So...clear ALL the HTML in the entire file and replace it at the top of the file with the following....
