Quick question: Cheapest iPage web hosting and package in UK? Thanks in advance for any response. Another question... I have 3 or 4 banners I would like to rotate in the footer of my store. Is there anything out there I can use to do it? I looked through the contibs and didnt see anything that looked like a footer module. The banner sizes are 486x60 and 120x60..

Thanks,.

Bill.

PS - I have uploaded the images in the banner manager through my Admin. They do not show up anywhere on the page though...

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could answer your iPage question..

There was no group in the banner manager until I added one..

When I added the banners, there was a drop down box that asked for a group name. It said a name was required, so I typed in "Reaction" and went on with the add process. There was no other group already there...

Ok, just went in and added "468x50" as a group, and added another banner..

When I refreshed my page, I get....

TEP ERROR! (tep_display_banner(static, 1) -> Banner with ID '1' not found, or status inactive.

In my footer on my index.php page...

OK, I just removed all the banners and images, and my index.php is now back to normal with no errors in the footer..

This is weird..

Is there any contrib that does banners in the footer?..

Hi.

If you can add sts template contrib, you can have your banners in the footer or the header, as it is up to you how you design the site..

I added a banner rotator to the bottom of a iPage site I did. I wrote a javascript to rotate between the banners, and just added it to the footer.php file..

Really rather easy...

I tried adding the sts sytem a while ago, didnt really go over well. I did my own mods do the basic layout and got the cleam look I was looking for. Maybe the next time I do a cleam install I'll look into it again..

Thanks,.

Would you care to share a little more detail? I could hard code something int othe footer.php file to just show a banner, but I wanted it to rotate every few refreshses or more/less..

Thanks,.

You can place the banner code anywhere you want. No contribution needed, if you want to have multilple groups all you need to do is change the group name.

For one group use.

<?php.

Echo tep_display_banner('dynamic', 'group1');.

?>.

For the next group.

<?php.

Echo tep_display_banner('dynamic', 'group2');.

?>.

You can stack as many banners as you want all showing different banners just by changing the groups in the code and assigning them in the banner manager in your admin center...

Yep, did all that, didn't work. That's why I think I need to add a good contrib at this point...

Comment #10

It does work. I have done it and not had any problems. However if you feel you need a contribution you should do a search for banner in the contribution section as there are a few banner managers listed and choose the one that you think will work best for you...

I tried the built in banner rotator, and came to the same problem you'd been having. So after adding a ton of banners to their rotator, I deleted them, and wrote my own in javascript..

Then, in the footer.php file I added a code to include the javascript. And it worked wonders. Plus I use the same rotator on multiple sites, and only update the one file when I add new banners. This way, all 6 of my sites, are running the same affiliate programs..

If you don't know javascript that well, search for "javascript banner rotator" and you'll get thousands of results...

When you add a Banner, make sure it is in the 468 x 50 group (this is a group name not a dimension).
