DIY built site on iPage? Headaches?

Got a quick question: DIY built site on iPage? Headaches? Hoping for any answer. Another question on my mind: I have a problem adding a new item to the catalog. Seems that after I insert the item details (name, description, price, image, etc...) then click on "preview" the page just hangs and won't allow me to insert an item..

I thought it was a CHMOD problem with the image so I checked and my images folder is correctly set at CHMOD 777. I even see my image correctly inserted into the images folder on the server so it does not seem to be an image or a folder problem..

Has anybody else seen this or have a solution?.

Thanks!.

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you help..

The image has to be uploaded from your computer to your web iPage site when you hit preview. Maybe it's just taking a long time to upload...

Thanks for the reply Orchard, but I figure that having waited at one point over 10 minutes while the screen remained stuck would have been long enough huh?.

I can access the server using ftp and via http so I know that the issue is not the server being down or unresponsive. This is SO frustrating!!.

So close........

OK, it's been a long day..........

I was trying to upload a 221K image, which, Orchard - did indeed to turn out to be the problem. I am not using 221K images, just testing something for a picky client so nobody jump on me for using ridiculously large images.

A client of mine is having the same problem. she's running ie6 on windows 98 a real bogged down windows 98. About 9 times out of 10 after clicking the preview button for a product upload, the browser does one of the following:.

A) displays the progress bar (the bogus one that grows indefinitely because nothing is happening) and just sits there.

Goes to a blank page and displays the ie default "this page cannot be found" error.

C) freezes completely.

I tried to narrow it down by uploading different images, different product names, etc. The strange thing is that I found it would never upload a product with a 3-letter name, but that may be a coincidence..

I, on the other hand, am running ie6 on a very clean and well-maintained win2kpro and never have this problem...

Ok, so after another test it seems that if I add a product to the catalog.

Without.

Specifying an image then the product is able to be added quickly, so it does seem like some sort of an image issue..

Anybody?.
