Does the iPage web host domain name URL effect the ranking of a web site?

My first question is Does the iPage web host domain name URL effect the ranking of a web site? Many thanks for any response. My other question... I really can't get a grip on this point here , I have about 25000 products in my database , and the search is really getting horribly slow, when only searching for a letter in the product title lets say the letter "t" it takes about 20-30 seconds to complete the search results..

When searching for a complete word it takes about 10-15 seconds..

It doesn't seem long 10-15 seconds, but when somebody is waiting for a white screen where internet explorer says "Done" on the downleft, it gives me the impression the page is loaded but blank as snow..

I think this is enough to drive visitors away like a highway.

For the information:.

Ihave disabled all features like search in product description, search through amazon..

I have an other iPage site wich is the same with barely any products and this search is normal..

Before having this many products , the search wasn't giving me any problems..

(This gives me the impression oscommerce or my iPage hosting company can't cope with a large product database).

For development:.

Does somebody know a way to incorporate a "please wait while your search is submitted page" like this invision power board forum?.

Can somebody give me any insight on what is happening?.

Some people with same experience?.

Does somebody know a solution wich doesn't involve finding another iPage hosting company?.

Feel free to respond share comment post etc.

Yup, but... you might want to make sure and wait for another person here to confirm my answer as I am not quite sure. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the iPage guys because they can give you help better...

A url to your iPage site would be nice..

I don't think that's neccesary for now, just to avoid precious time wasted on database queries by "inspecting vistors". The little bit i've left I like to spend on "serious visitors"..

If there is something you can remarks please do so..if not let's keep this a short list...

Shared iPage hosting for a large online store? That is your problem. Is zend installed? How about turck mmcache? What is the cpu load like? How is the mysql mem usage? You really have not provided any information other than "it is slow"..

There could be numerous reasons on why your server is slow... Katie gave some, but you're really lacking on the info.... You should also contact your host they might give some good solutions since they can get a more detailed look on the lag you are getting.. Have you tried running and installing anything else to see if it's not even an oscommerce related issue?..

Yes I am sitting on a shared server at the moment, and true I really doubt this is going to be a success.

But for now my funds are minimal and I have no other choice then to row with the paddles given:x.

So some iPage hosting further iPage hosting information..

Linux server with shared hosting.

Optimization Pass 2 enabled.

Optimization Pass 3 enabled.

Optimization Pass 4 enabled.

Optimization Pass 5 disabled.

Optimization Pass 9 disabled.

Optimization Pass 10 disabled.

Zend Loader enabled.

License Path no value.

I cannot see cpu usage or mysql load used by qeueries because of the shared iPage hosting , so here's some other mysql information provided;.

Active Persistent Links 0.

Active Links 1.

Client API version 4.0.20.

MYSQL_MODULE_TYPE external.

Directive Local Value Master Value.

Mysql.allow_persistent On On.

Mysql.connect_timeout 60 60.

Mysql.max_links Unlimited Unlimited.

Mysql.max_persistent Unlimited Unlimited.

Mysql.trace_mode Off Off.

I don't understand what you mean by this?.

I really hope there are other solutions wich don't include moving to another host or dedicated server..

And moreover does somedody has an idea how to incorporate a temporary notice window wich gives the vistitor a message that his/her search is submitted and that he/she has to wait for the results to complete(with link to skip the search queries)..

Exactly like it has been done on this forum here..

Instead of moving to antother host I really would like the focus to lie on this "in between screen"Does anybody can come up with some idea that is usefull..

I have installed multiple other things wich ran well , also I already ran oscommerce for half a year with 250 products in this database and I really hadn't any difficulties with the search..

The problem arose when I had many products in database.

I have informed my iPage hosting company about these problems, but support doesn't come quickly. And therefore I am still waiting..

In the mean time my vistors are abandoning me every day. So I am desperate for a " inbetween screen solution" with wich a visitor is at least informed about the time it takes to submit a search querie..

I have got a mail back from my iPage hosting company, they informed me that there are problems right now with the server where my iPage site is running on, I really hope that this is the cause of my troubles. And I will wait for more information..

In the mean time ...

I am still looking around for a decent way to incorporate a " please wait while your search is submitted " screen(wich can replace the white screen wich folows afterwards)..

Are there some people out there wich have succesfully incorporated this kind of "waiting"page?..

Unfortunately my iPage hosting company confirms it is a server problem but they have no real resolution to this here, other than to move the entire iPage site to a new server..

I am not so fond of this type of solution because I am foreseeing other new problems to come(they have already been solved in the past with the server where my iPage site is hosted)..

Therefore I am asking for all out there who read this; can somebody with iPage hosting experience give me a clue what could be done by a iPage hosting company to speed up my-sql queries?..

Further information:.

I used cache for 7 days know it has releaved the pain with a few seconds (and is still much to slow), but due to other problems I had to switch it back off again..

So now I have strippped about 10.000 products from the database and I am still getting the slow results. Depending on wordphrase about 20-30 seconds...
