First off, Does yahoo offer free iPage web hosting? Hoping for any answer. Another question I got... He I run a online music store and I want to make some songs downloadable, I have worked out how to make something downloadable but I can not upload a file into the download folder that is larger than 2 megs. Which is a problem because all songs are more than 2 megs. Does anyone know a way to do it?..

Yup, but... you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else to confirm this as I am not confident. Better yet, why don't you contact the iPage guys because they can answer your iPage question better...

If you r using php for upload via the file manager, it wont work, most hosts have the file limit size at 2mb..

I am having a similar problem, my iPage hosting company say they have no limit on download via php. They are suggesting it is in the scripting. A quick test will show that anything over 2 MB will not download. Uploading is OK at over 50MB.

As far as I know, there is nothing within the osC script that limits uploads or downloads in any way. As John stated however, there is typically a 2MB limit within PHP. This can usualy be circumvented by uploading via FTP instead of through the site. The download limit does sound like a host issue...

Is there a cache issue within OsCommerce that can be affecting this download problem?.

The iPage hosting company says they have sites that download 100MB files via php on the same server. I can upload fine but thats not much good if the client can't by the product...

Is your host using Ensim? if so, there is a known chroot issue with Ensim. Sites that run in Ensim 3.5+ using High Security run php as a CGI.. The fix is to ask your host to change your iPage site to 3.1 Security which they may be reluctant to do..

If they do, you will have to update your configure.php - your path will change to /home/virtual/domain.com/var/www/html as opposed to /var/www/html.

I will ask them if that is the case, thanks..

The download works perfectly for any file under 2MB so I think you are on the right track...

My iPage hosting company says it must be something in the php in oscomerce..

So now I am stuck with no answer and an inability to get the downloads to work..

What would it be that they need to check on the server?..

If they are Running Ensim 3.5.x (which includes 4.0) in High Security.. If so, your iPage site will need to run in 3.1 Security..

Ensim runs php as a cgi in high security sites and this is where things get kind of messy. I discovered this all as I am not only an osC enthusiast, but also an Ensim based host with my own lisence..

I can't speak on other control panels but I know this to be fact with Ensim. I have had this very same problem and spent a good few weeks messing through osC code only to find it was my iPage hosting software =)..

Good luck....

Thanks, I will try that by mentioning it to my host..
