That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I got an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably know..
Thank you for your questions and quick reply. This was the question I was searching for. That is a relatively easy way to remove the shopping cart system..
Does any one know of a way or a mod that will pass the product information to a form or system that send an email to the store owner that a potential customer would like some info..
This is what I would like to accomplish:.
A customer finds a product that they would like more info on..
(Purchasing it directly is not an option).
The customer clicks on a button that says "request info".
A new page appears where the product information is auto populated..
The customer then fills in their contact info..
They click submit and then all of the info is mailed to the store owner..
Does this already exist or can anyone point me in the correct direction..
I may also consider paying for this page is some one can put it together quickly..
Thanks in advance...
Nick, thanks for the information to have osCommerce as a catalog. I use it myself and it works fine..
In deed, I made oscommerce to work as a bookstore and changed every instance of "Products" to "Books" while "Manufacturers" to "Publishers" and so on..
The problem I have is adding a new field in the database of products and show it with every product. Everything was easy untill I get to Configuration/Product Listing. There, I could not add the classification of new field called Book quality to be shown..
Do you have an idea? or do you know which file can I work on to modify the Configuration/Product Listing featurs?.
Why don't you rewrite the Tell A Friend box to send e-mails only to you. In this e-mail all product information or I think a link to the product is sent..
Why do you want to add enable/disable displaying of the book quality in the admin section? It is not really necessary..
Simply add your new field to catalog/product_info.php in the right place..
There's a contribution that I use called "Ask a question". It does something similar to what you want. It'll put in the item in the e-mail subject, in the body is whatever the person put in and includes a link to the product..
Is there a way to configure oscommerce to be only in catalog mode? ie. no shopping cart features? I do not need to provide online purchases (yet), merely maybe a link to get further info..
I have looked and looked in the forums, cant find anything - so I hope to get a quick answer here..

You can simply remove/out-comment the unwanted boxes in catalog/includes/column_left.php and column_right.php. In catalog/product_info you need to take out the Add to Cart button and for the product listing you can disable the buy now function in the backend under Configuration/Product Listing...
