My 1st question is: Has anybody tried the Medifast Diet? Hoping for any comment. Another question... Other topics will be discussed that may not be appropriate for the easily offended..

Please discontinue reading Tough Love threads if they are going to cause you to become upset..

Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstinence from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

Good morning, Anna! Beach! Too chilly here yesterday to go to the beach - I managed a trip to the mall, though.

(and thanks for the coffee, I need some VERY badly!!!!).

Hope everyone is well today, I slept like crap last night and with dh home today, I've got a lot to do. First stop is Good Will with 6 bags of old clothes. VERY happy to be giving that stuff away..

Planning on having a really nice OP day -.

Waving hello and blowing kisses to all who follow!.

Morning Melissa!!! How awesome 6 bags for Good will.

It was 77 here yesterday, water is still cold though...

Good morning everyone!.

Anna thanks for getting us started..

Melissa is giving away clothes! Woo hoo!.

Grocery store, run, and a little clothing shopping on tap for today. In the 50's. After this winter, I'll take it...

Morning, everyone! The twins are up and raring to go as usual, so I'm up with 'em! Nice little NSV to get me rolling on weigh in day...I figured out why I "stalled" a bit on the weight loss. Aunt Flo decided to visit me nearly 2 weeks early this month! Ah, the joys of having an unpredictable system! Funny how just knowing that makes me feel more hopeful about what I am doing. The mind is an odd thing! Spent yesterday very happy to be OP and feeling confident that I'd drop again soon..

Church this morning, then more yard work! Knee deep in bark mulch and having three trees removed early this week, so we're getting the yard ready!.

Have a blessed day!..

Good morning TL'ers! Thanks for the much needed coffee, last week and this week are just running together due to being short staffed at work. At this rate they'll need to prop me up with a stick by Wednesday!.

Have a great OP day everyone! I'll be back later!.

Good morning Anna, Melissa, Barb, Jennifer, and Tara!.

Not sure what I am going to be doing today, but I doubt it involves running. Did week 2 day 3 of couch to 5K yesterday and I think I need a break. I lost 0.2 pounds today bringing me to 150.2. I can't wait for the 140s!!!!! It's been three years. I've been losing 0.2 pounds every day for about a week now. Today is day 5 of my week without condiments or snacks..

I hope everyone has a fantastic day today!..

Good morning gals..

I've got 6 people coming over to feed today, plus me and DSO, so I'm a bit frazzled already. Thank goodness I am a decent cook who knows how to make things that don't need a lot of attention. This was just sprung on me yesterday afternoon. I bought a few things ready-made, although I am a from-scratch cooker, because dang, I need more than a half day to prepare! DSO does not understand, because apparently magic food and cleaning fairies take care of everything! I keep explaining that we do not, in fact, have house elves..

Anna, thanks for starting us off, and I'm glad you finally made it to the beach!.

Melissa, congrats on ditching the old clothes..

Barb, good luck finding just the right new clothes..

Jennifer, we have yard work on the plan for today too - my visitors help us out because of my bad back, so I'll be with you in dirty yardwork spirit!.

Kris- awesome weight loss, my weigh in is tomorrow, I've got my fingers crossed..

Hope everyone has a good Sunday. Avoid the sludge!..

Thanks for the coffee, Anna. Have fun shopping!.

Barb: 50 degrees is perfect running weather..

Jennifer: glad life is making more sense today. Surprise!.

Melissa: Goodwill bags represent promises kept to yourself. Congratualtions!.

Everybody: Have a great day. I feel like cleaning, have no idea how far oujt of bed I'll get. Mostly over the worst of the flu, so is DH..

Happy Sunday March 20, 2011!.

Morning Tl's.

Thanks for the coffee. Hoping for a quiet productive day. I need to clean out some clothes, restock the groceries, etc. You all know the same routine every weekend..

I did get to see Red Riding Hood. It was really good. Nice twist and a good love story...

Good morning and happy Sunday, Tough Lovelies!.

Nice to see everyone up and at 'em! Thanks for the coffee - going for cup number 2 and then to restore a little biological order in my kitchen. Oh, yeah. And create some awesomeness...

Back from the grocery store. I am always amazed at how much easier it is now that I perimeter shop. Off for my run and then I feel a blog coming on. It was 2 years ago today that I said enough is enough. No more sugar. I want my life back.

More to follow!..

Morning, TL'ers... Coffee!!! Thanks so much! Had to run DD into town to show her where she goes for Jury Duty. This happens to be Camden, NJ which is our county seat. One of the roughest and poorest cities in the country, AND they just had a police layoff, so she is not thrilled. But it's ok around the Courthouse during the day..

Then to the store. Rest of the day will be quiet before the busy week. Plus I'm taking inventory of my stock because we are going out of town for 4 days and I need to make sure that I am "foolproof" for the trip. OP WILL PREVAIL!!.

DW bought me a pair of jean "regular fit".... I was sure they weren't going to fit, but I guess I still have skewed perception of the old bod! LOL!.

Hope everyone has a great day. Relax and enjoy the "day of rest"....

Congratulations! I can't wait to read your blog! Insight like yours, from experience, is priceless...

Good morning everyone!.

We're going to do yard work for the in-laws this afternoon, otherwise no big plans..

Day 12 of my scale being stuck on the same number. My body does this often, I have nice losses and then am stuck for a couple weeks. I wear a Bodybugg and log every morsel, so I know exactly what my calories burned, calories consumed and calorie balance (deficiet) is each day. All show that I am doing excellent.

And I know the scale will show a loss when my body is good and ready (my mind was ready about 10 days ago, LOL). I've not taken my measurements, but my clothes are loose and my tummy is flatterso all is good. Darn scale anyway! (yeah, I say it doesn't bug me that my weight gets stuck but I love seeing those numbers dropLOL)..

Happy Spring!..

Morning everybody. Still pouring rain, windy and cold here and my attitude seems intent on reflecting that..

Big event for the day is bra shopping. Seriously, the girls need some help and I have no real idea at this point what size is going to fit. Started this process at a 44D and I'm pretty sure that I'm in the 36B's at this point. I'm getting awfully close to looking like a teenage boy, boob-wise, and my husband called my figure "athletic" the other day and I'm not really sure how much of a compliment that is..

Have a great on-plan day and enjoy the sunshine if it's out where you live...

GG- good luck with the shopping. I know how you feel. I started at a 40ddd now I can fit back into some of my 38d's. I have never felt flat before but I sure do now. I may need some enhancement surgery if this keeps up...

Morning kids. Doing yard work of my own today. Been out for almost 2 hours fighting an endless battle with weeds. Reclaiming my yard from them is proving a challenge this year..

I'm really struggling with food this weekend. I have gotten a little cocky this time around because I HAVE been hungry and eating regularly. Not this weekend. 10 am and I just finished my first meal and 20 oz of water. I probably would have gone longer if I hadn't gotten lightheaded and shaky while fighting the weeds. Now I need to figure out how to space the rest of my meals for the day.

Old habits come back so easily. <sigh>.

Hope everyone is having a great day...

No time to catch up on the last couple days, but I did want to wave hello. *hello!*.

I spent yesterday assembling raised beds from a kit. A lot of bending, drilling, screwing, hammering, etc. Then I shifted almost all of 2 cubic yards of WET dirt (a full pickup truck bed) into them. Then my muscles gave out..

Today it hurts to put on my socks. It hurts to sit down. And I don't care, because Seattle is having gorgeous weather and I'm going to finish moving dirt and put some seeds in there TODAY..

Here are my new babies! I can see them from my sofa, so I can watch my veggies grow all summer long. So happy!..

That's what we want to do in an unused area behind the House, Freya. It's got fences on 2 sides so we figured we could cover with the green sunscreen that keeps the direct sun off of the plants, yet still let's enough through to help them grow. The sun here will literally fry up veggie plants without proper screening...

I read an article about growing a pot of lettuce indoors! I have 2 big rhododendrons on my credenza at the office and I think a nice colorful pot of lettuce would look great! I could bring home a fresh salad whenever I want!.

De, be careful in that heat with no food! I trust your judgement, though...

Thanks Penny. Fortunately, the temps have dropped more than 20 degrees and right now it's only about 70 out. I'm done though. My body gave out about an hour ago. I did get all the roofing crap out on the street, then made the mistake of sitting down. hehe A quart of Powerade Zero, some lunch and then Tried to get up again, and decided the rest of the weeds could wait.

It's bad enough I'm still doing laundry and need to clean my kitchen. Just looked at the clock and realized it's only NOON!!! Yikes! Feels like it should be 3 or 4 pm...

Note to self-while grocery shopping wearing jeans 2 sizes too big without a belt, do NOT put cell phone in pocket...

Hi TL'ers!.

Thanks for all the helpful hints about what to do when you're having a hungry day. It was TOUGH man, I'm tellin ya. I tried the nap and it was helpful. Not sure I actually slept, but got rid of about an hour. I also went shopping for a couple of prints and frames for my office, and went to a friend's house for awhile. The distraction helped but I never stopped wanting to munch! Arrgh.

Melissa - YES - oh man I drank and drank. I went to Starbucks and bought a tea, drank coffee, water, water, water. My problem is when it comes to coffee, I like cream and sugar (half n half and splenda) and I want splenda in my tea, so any way I go with a flavored drink, I am adding carbs. ARGH!.

I need to learn to drink coffee and tea without anything. Anyone got any tips on this?.

De - when you mentioned a 4&2 this morning it made me wonder if - in an "I'm HungrY" day - the 4&2 might be an option. Seems like it would sure be better than eating off plan..

And, I have a question about 4&2 for the veterans. I've heard people say they still try to stay within 1,000 calories with 4&2, but I've heard others say they go to about 1,200. It seems like if you're doing it to counter-balance an intense workout, the 1,200 would be the way to go. But if I was going to use it as a means of not going off plan one day here and there, I'm sure I would go as low cal as possible. Thoughts and experiences, please?.

Freya - LOVE the raised beds. You did a great job! My DH is the family gardener but I hope to be of some help to him this year. Need to get a new lawn mower and then I'll try to mow most of the time because it is such good exercise. At least if I'm mowing, he can have more time to tend the garden..

Penny - do we get to see a pic of the vines you were donating?.

Anna - I would love to go to the beach. Beaches are good.

Glad you enjoyed it yesterday. I didn't get a whoosh after yesterday's ordeal, but at least I feel better and not hungry today. That was just wierd..

Gigi - I don't envy you girls with big breasticles! I've actually had two friends who've had reductions. I've never been more than a C and will surely be a B or less when I reach goal. The good news is that I don't have a lot of sagging. LOL Each size has it's own issues. And "athletic" bodies are sexy - he sent you flowers, remember?.

Hi to Beth, TwinsMom, Anony, Glen, Barb, Mia, Talien, and anyone else I've missed..

Have a happy.....

Happy Sunday everyone!.

Had a wonderful bunch of NSV's at church many compliments on my weight loss! Don't know why it seems like nobody had noticed before. They sure noticed today..

Mia, thanks for the movie review. I wasn't sure if I wanted to see that one, but I have to say that Gary Oldman is one of my all time favorite I was leaning that way. You've convinced me now..

Freya, I am so jealous of those garden plots! I want some! Wish my husband was home long enough to help me do that. Is that your front yard? How will you keep neighborhood dogs out...etc.? It doesn't look fenced to me. Just curious...

Heck, how will she keep the NEIGHBORS out! hehe.

Tracey - Might be an option for hungry days. I've logged everything I am planning on eating today, and it seems like when I do 4&2, my calories go up, but my carbs go DOWN! I'm showing 68 carbs for the day. Makes me want to rethink my evening veggies, but I p[robably won't. Calories will top off at just over 900...

Angel that was funny..

De - You better take care of yourself, my friend..

Penny - HI, been awhile, I hope your little fingers are creating some wonderful little gems..

Freya - W.

WSER Those look awesome. What a wonderful gift to give yourself..

Thanks for the coffee to start us out today..

GG - I still hate to go bra shopping. Victoria Mortons is my fav, tho..

Talien - Hang in there..

Glenn - I bet your wifey was so happy to buy those jeans and then to see your butt in 'em..

Enjoy it, sir, you have earned it..

Twin - How old are your twins, I don't remember their ages or sexes. Mine are boy/girl and just turned 21. I loved every single stage of their little lives and felt privileged to be able to watch their relationship grow. So looking forward to my PINK bundles coming soon and getting to experience the twin thing in a whole new and different way..

Anonygirl - I have to entertain a lot and have really enjoyed being creative while on this marvelous plan. Enjoy and you are right: AVOID THE SLUDGE at all costs..

Mwirth - I wondered if Red would be any good. The trailers look a bit dark and scary, tho..

I want to see the Lincoln Lawyer, but probably won't have a minute before we leave for our big trip later this week..

Kris - and why are you not enjoying ANY condiments or snacks? Hmmmm, wondering minds want to know. Especially this mind, cause I love using both of them..

Refusetoquit - Don't you just feel great donating stuff to those places? I know that I do..

On the way DOWN, I would stop by each Fri and buy some smaller outfit, only to turn around in a couple of weeks to return it for donation and buy a new smaller size. It was a win/win and at least kept me in sizes that actually fit til I got to GOAL and could buy permanent clothing..

Ok, to anyone I may have missed, stay OnPlan and enjoy the day..

I did an early class at the studio, then church. Took DD#2 to work, stopped by Verison to fix my BB. Back home backing up the systems as it seems the phone needs a complete swipe and do over. YIKES I better not lose any of my important data, photos, etc..

Then off to take the pup for a walk. Well, not really as she really just stops every 2 seconds to sniff and 'mark' her spot. It is just such a pretty day, I wanted to be outside a bit..

Spent the day with Boxers yesterday and boy did we make a huge dent in her nursery. Got all the gifts sorted and even managed to return some duplicates, before she had to just stop and rest. I don't know how in the world she can go much farther, but she will have finished 29 weeks on Tues. Sheesh! Still hoping for at least Mother's Day for the PINK bundles. Dr says she is doing great considering how tiny she is. At barely 5 feet tall and only weighing 101 pounds when she got preggers it really is quite a site..

Okey Dokey, the pup is circling my desk and we all know what that MEANS. I'm outta here for awhile..

Hugs and biggest MWAH!..

De - I know if I do a 4&2 on any day, I will need to pre-plan and log all the food in advance. I just don't want to tip-toe around the edges of MF. My mind would by sliding down that slippery slope so fast. Even though I feel stronger every day (most days) on program, I've had this warped mind for 53 years, so I don't trust it..

Alright ladies (and Glenn) I just made my very first ever cauliflower pizza. It wasn't even hard to do! It is super tasty. I'd love to give some kind of gift to the person who created it. I'm in my 12th week of program and never thought I would actually get to eat something that tasted like pizza. Now I'm full and happy and it is 3pm. Still have three Medifast meals to go.

Woo Hoo!.

Pittie - good job on all the NSV's!..

Hey there Chatty! Long time no see..

Tracey - I try not to do 4&2 very often, but when I'm off my schedule like I was today, if I don't, I tend to just not make up the calories. I've worked my body enough to warrant it today anyway. Definitely plan it out in advance and stick to your plan if you do choose to go that way..

Penny - Dang I forgot!! 175/2/42......

I procrastinated in making them while on 5&1, too..

But once I bit that bullet, I discovered a whole new way to add another way to eat healthy..

My whole family loves them and I keep a dozen or so crusts in my freezer at any given time..

The other thing I did NOT do right away was the Kale Chips. OMG they are divine..

Then people kept raving about missing French Fries. Well those turnip fries are to die for and no need to EVER go back to eating the other type...

Congrats on your compliments!!!.

But I'm confused by the question. Neighborhood dogs? Wha?.

I live in Seattle. We keep 'em on leashes here. My cats will use them as a litter box until the plants get established, but that's life..

Who says you need a husband to help? It was a 1.25 day project by myself, including shifting all the dirt and planting. I had the dirt delivered, but the rest of it I did all on my own..

They're finished and planted now. Overfilled with dirt, so please keep your fingers crossed for settling to stay ahead of erosion. Smoosh down, dirt, smoosh!!!.

Today I planted: carrots, turnips, red onions, garlic chives, cilantro, lettuces (freckled, spicy, and baby greens mixes), spinaches (normal, New Zealand, and Egyptian varieties), celery (Amsterdam and Chinese), bok choi, Chinese kale, chard, and about 6 other weird Chinese/Japanese greens I can't remember the name of. It's going to be "what the heck is this oh who cares I'm eating it anyway" in my garden this year - just the way I like it..

Tomatoes, cauliflower, and cucumbers are waiting for the ground to warm up. Soil temperature map for the whole country, updated daily:.

How cool is that???.

Damage toll to my body: fingers all crabbed and hard to type, tiny bit of lost skin on left hand, big blister on foot, SORE muscles everywhere, and pooped for the day. Sofa, then bathtub, then maybe more sofa..

Hope everyone is having an awesome lovely day!!!..

Holy Guacamole!!!! You are a MUCH more ambitious girl than I am..

Also, you don't have a husband who will NOT be happy to come home to it all done UNLESS it is absolutely perfectly placed, perfectly put together, etc. That makes him sound horrible, but really he isn't. What I mean is: He is the actual gardener in the family. He already has (in his mind) where he wants he wants it, etc. You have to realize I have a 2 acre yard, with three separate water spigots placed throughout. I just want to make sure he doesn't have to say, "Honey, thank you so much for doing this, but I wish you would have waited until I could help because I really wanted it in the back 40 (that's what I call the area outside our fence) to the side of spigot #3.

So...I can't do something THAT drastic (and hard to move), without him. He would likely be nice about it, but I would KNOW that he was really disappointed..

About neighborhood dogs. 1) I live in the south. 2) I live outside of the city, so yeah, these country folks just let their dogs roam. 3) Despite the fact that I keep my dogs on leashes or inside the fenced portion of my yard...most of my neighbors have told me that it isn't necessary to do so and I'm not letting my dogs have a "natural" life this way. UGH! (This is the one thing I truly HATE about the south.)..

Pittie - I live in Scottsdale, AZ and even though people have fenced yards or keep them on leashes, dogs STILL are seen constantly running around the streets. Then there's all the neighborhood cats that you have absolutely no control over! hehe...

OMGosh I love that Freya!!! I have wanted raised beds for so long, to grow my veggies, you have inspired me to do it myself!!! Way to go! I live in Gig Harbor, and Yes, aren't we ready for some SUN???..

Tracey, I did take some pictures!.

Yes, the ears are kinda creepy, but they show how to wear them. I admit, they're not for everyone, but there are MANY people around here who like to adorn the entire ear. Many would love to do it without the extra piercings..

Chatty, I almost didn't recognize you in a regular black font! So good to see you in here! Yes, I've been real busy and have the blisters and calluses to show for it! Lots of new stuff listed today!.

Off to eat some dinner and I'll check back later!..

Tkd-I was drinking AT LEAST one iced coffee from McDonalds every day before I started MF. Tons of cream and sugar. So when I started Medifast I went down to two sweet n lows. Then to one. The one day I just decided to try it black. Decided it wasn't that bad!.

Chatty-I decided to do no snacks or condiments because I simply don't need them. Wanted to see if my weight loss would speed up I guess. So far, it hasn't worked LOL, but I guess it was worth a shot. Not sure if I'm adding them back next week or not. Didn't have any lettuce to put salad dressing on this week anyway, so it wasn't really hard. Kinda miss the pickle spears, but I've been fine without it. I don't feel deprived...

Pittie, I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but why not ask DH where he wants them (approximately), assemble them in that region, when he's home have him fiddle them into their Final Approved Location, and then fill them up? You can still have veggie beds and you only need 3 minutes of his time!.

Unless of course "DH has to have it the way he wants it" is code for "moving a hundred wheel barrow loads of dirt sounds like waaaaaay less fun than almost anything else I could be doing."..

Penny, that was funny. I scrolled down enough to see the picture, thought "God those ears are creepy," and then scrolled to see you saying they're creepy..

Your jewelry is so beautiful!!!!..

Woo hoo....what a day! Celebrated spring and my ah-ha I am addicted to sludge realization day. Got in a 5 mile trail run, bought a VS bra and panties, wrote my realization blog and am eating a big old grilled chicken salad for dinner..

Fighting the good fight!..

Thank you, Freya! Almost like I was talking to you, huh?!.

Just had my slammin Shrimp on salad and now I'm off to declutter a bit..

I got the latest issue of Oxygen today and right there, on page 41, looking every bit as good as those air-brushed twenty-somethings, was my friend Linda Sue (aka Sunflowergirl) who was one of the Happy Afters last year!..

Fuzzy happy 2 years ....

It sounds like a lot of you did a lot of yard work ! I hung out and talked to my best friend for a couple of hours on the phone then my dh for about 30 minutes...

Rachel, I just read yesterday's thread and I have to say - NO, you are not alone. I don't remember exactly when it happened, but there was a point when I just had to "visit the place where they keep the food." I smelled, checked out, fondled, and generally admired a bunch of OP and SLUDGE foods. It made me really happy just to be near it..

It was a nice shift after not being able to handle the smell of yeasty things without major cravings. Instead, it felt like the smell was satisfying something..

It was a good day..

I'm pretty sure I'm a loon, but it was a good day...

Today I was in line at the grocery store and the woman in front of me was buying SLUDGE and the cravings hit me like a brick wall. I couldn't even look away. I can walk by SLUDGE displays and it doesn't bug me at all. I'm not sure why the SLUDGE bugged me so much just in the this one situation. Weird...

Sassy, there's something different about a giant display of sludge, and knowing that the one specific individual right next to you is going to Put It In Their Mouth. That makes it way more real...

Thanks for the validation, Freya. I actually seemed to recall you blogging about something along those same lineswhich is why I didn't feel too Freaked Out when I realized I've done it twice now!.

Last night I had some of the worst sludge cravings (unrelated to the grocery trip, I'm pretty sure) in a while. First I took a nap to stave it offthen I woke up, ate my OP meals, killed some more time, and it came back. I got as far as the website for the sludge delivery store to find out when they closed, and basically stared the clock down until I knew they were closed and I was safe. I admit, I was feeling a bit lonely at the strugglethe boards get quiet early around herebut I won out in the end..

I've been working my way through my old Medifast food supply before I break into my latest shipment, and I'm down to less than a week's worth. The primary struggle has been getting all the beef stew goneI fell in love with it and ordered way more than I ate for a while, so I've been eating it 1-2 times a day to reduce the supply. It's not that I don't like it anymore, I still doit's probably just the amount of time that it takes to prepare and eat it that makes it annoying. Anyway, just a few packets of that left, and then I can get back into the pantry where the new boxes of Caramel Nut Maintenance bars are living!.

It took 6.5 hours to drive home from Austin todayit's usually a 4 hours or less trip. Apparently a big rig wrecked and spilled a whole bunch of raw chicken all over I-35, forcing highway closures on an already busy day for traffic exiting the area. After I finally got home, though, I went right to work in the kitchen and made quick work of cooking enough for the next 3 days+ of L&G!..

Yeah Freya, that makes sense. It was amazing how much it triggered me. I've only had issues being tempted with SLUDGE out in the open in bowls and on plates at parties, when I'm out to dinner, etc. I've stayed on plan today so the SLUDGE didn't actually win the battle, but boy, was it a battle today...
