Got a quick question: Has anyone tried Nutrisystem? Does it work and how is the food? Looking forward for any answer or 2. Another question... And I'm having trouble with it on both sides. I just started Nutrisystem yesterday. I'm doing the Flex or Weekends off plan, but I know that doesn't really mean weekends off....

Part of me wants to blow it off so I can stick to plan. But I can't do that, this is a really good friend, and because I'm basically emceeing this shindig..

We're starting off at a cigar lounge. Not too big an issue there. It is BYOB, and I'm sure there will be alcohol, but I can just sit and enjoy the stogies..

Next stop is a North African/Mediterranean restaurant for dinner, belly dancers and hookah. I'm sure I can find something reasonable to eat there. But then things get saucy. The bar hop begins after that, which means lots of alcohol and bar food....

So I really feel torn. I want to go out and tear the roof off with my buddy and our friends. I'm committed to Nutrisystem and I know for a fact that I will have no problem getting right back on plan the next day. Heck, I feel like I'm eating more now than I was before. But I want to sit back and not drink so much, but I dont want my buddies to think I'm being a stick in the mud. Yes, I know if I explain it, he'll understand.

I don't know why I'm posting this. I don't think I'm even looking for advice, because I'll end up making a gametime decision on this, which will probably be somewhere in the middle. But I'm open to any input on this anyway...

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could answer your Nutrisystem question..

Good luck. Maybe they won't make a big deal about it if you just kind of play it down. If you do indulge, beer goes down a lot slower than mixed drinks. You migt have to be a "stick" and pass the Tequila/Jaeger shots, too...

We're going to be in Manhattan. No driving required. Otherwise, I would definitely offer to do that to save face...

There are events in your life that do cause you to be challenged; you have a big one coming up. It would be poor advice to tell you to have a ball, screw NS, and just get back on plan 100% on Monday, but there is more than likely a middle ground. If youre going to drink, sneak in some water it will help a little bit. When you order snacks at the bars, go light on the dips and cheese. Also, put your food down between bites, I know it sounds lame, but it will slow you down and your other buddies can eat more..

I always try and rate an event to see if it is worth side tracking my Nutrisystem efforts. The last 2 months I have had 3 major events, one was a once in a lifetime sort of deal and I did drink too much and was not great on the food. The other 2 were fun events that allowed me to control myself just fine (Including a trip to Las Vegas for 2 days). The point is, going into all 3 events I knew what I would do and did not beat the hell out of myself for being human every once in a while..

This is a life style change, and you need to be able to make trade-offs in all aspects of your life. Whatever you do, remember to take the positive and apply it to your new healthy life style..

The fact you were willing to post this here is a sure sign you care, and that is a good start!.

Thanks Mike. That's kind of my thinking. I'll likely drink what I consider sissy lite beer (you can see my preference in my picture) and water, in a 1:2 ratio. I will certainly mix a few car bombs in, as this is a tradition with my friend and I. But I am going to drink as much water as I can..

I am absolutely committed to changing my lifestyle with this. I've sucked at every diet I've tried, thats why this is a commitment and not a diet. And I could have just waited a week and then started, but that would have turned into waiting until after the wedding, and so on... So I'm going to go out, drink some, smoke a lot (between hookah and cigars), and be mindful of the food I put in my mouth. The Moroccan restaurant has a nice Fish or chicken tagine, and some great looking seafood dishes. Then I get back on board Sunday.

Thanks for the head check. Thats pretty much what I needed...

I agree with Mike. Be human - have fun, but make wise choices. Even better than lite beer would be rum and diet coke - even martinis - besides you'll stay awake longer! The hard thing to do will be to not eat the bad stuff then mr alcohol tells you it's ok. Stick to nachos and salsa - anything that's a veggie and not fried, eat it - even baked chicken instead of wings..

You probably know Atkins - think that....

And, if this thing does not start till the evening, do Nutrisystem all day and eat a huuuge amount of salad before you go - maybe you can make it to dinner then without piggin out...you can always eat that stuff when you are on maintence (once in a while)..

Lastly, wake up in the morning of the party and get some exercise so your metabolism moves all day - I'm not sure what your fitness level is but take an hour long fast walk or 30 minute jog long bike ride or something....

Mmm cigars...never tried the hookah - have fun!.

My 2cents...

Thanks Bob. I plan on walking from Penn Station (where I get off the train) to the East Village (where we are partying), which is about 2 miles. And we'll also be walking between bars on our bar crawl. And I will definitely stay away from the fried foods. I don't plan on eating anything from when I get there until dinner (which isnt until around 9 - the belly dancing is late). Depending on my state in the morning, I also would like to walk back to Penn before catching the train home.

Thanks again guys for all the suggestions...

Oh, and I'll definitely mix in some of the liquor and diet coke drinks. I'd prefer that to lite beer any day.....

Have fun - i'm in NJ, maybe when we're thin we'll down some cold ones together to celebrate..

I am going to the Jets game on Nov 1 - I plan on tailgating for 4 hours...but I bring what I'm eating.

Which is all going to be good - crab, lobster, etc...and martini's - I hope my wife can drive home!..

Heck we were practically almost neighbors. I was born in Somerset Med Center, grew up in Dunellen and Middlesex and moved to Bound Brook when I got married.... Still miss Jersey, don't miss the taxes...

MGD 64 is only 64 calories. One bottle of beer can be nursed at every bar...

So is becks light...pretty good too - 1/2 the alcohol tho - that's important..

Doesn't Budweiser have a new light beer out that has less calories than water?.

Here it is. It's being test marketed. It's only 55 calories...

Just chiming in as a fellow NJ resident; Eatontown - Monmouth county area here...

I prefer the mixed drinks personally, but I drink them down awful fast like soda. A beer just takes me longer..

You might also consider having an overly big salad and being pretty stuffed when you leave the restaurants. Or even ordering some when the guys get wings at the bars...if they don'r rib you too much. Or you're like me and kind of make a game out of taking the abuse..

Anyhow...I agree that you are doing great by posting ahead of time and I like your spirit, think you will do well. I also think that this is kinda low on the list of really transformative events to consider throwing the diet..

I'm sure you will do a great job of taking the middle road. Good luck. I personally would just be hard core about it and stick to plan...but everyone is different and I sense you will keep your spirits up while doing this Nutrisystem regimine. Good luck and have fun...
