I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..

Mibble, He wants to sell items he does not have yet...

O well just list the products for sale and see what you get..

Exactly what mibble said..

Since osCommerce just puts the order into pending when the customer checks out I would just note in the product description/title that it is a pre-order then once the stock comes in go through your orders list and fulfill whatever's pending for that particular pre-order...

More tricky of course if you use a payment gateway because you don't really want to charge the card untill you are (almost) ready to ship...

Why not just use the "date available" field when you're adding a new product? this sound like what you want to do, the only problem now is trying to stop people paying for it there and then.....

I'm having the same problem. I would like to allow people to enter an order and pay for it even when I am out of stock. We are building the products in small quantities and run out very quickly. But I want to allow people to "pre-order" since I have added the warning to expect a 1-2week delay in shipment..

I have configured Configuration/Stock to "allow checkout even if there is insufficient stock" and have had a customer enter an order and successfully pay thru PayPal. However, the order does not show up in my "Customers/orders section. Is there a "pending" orders area that I have not found yet?..

ALl you need to do is allow cash orders, or cheques as payment for the product, then change the php file to read like they have pre ordered, ie change the english language file! I have dunt this not for preording but sumthing similar..

All the orders are on the same page (although you can subselect by status). I would suggest that there is a problem with your Paypal contribution. Make sure you are using something decent like Paypal Shopping Cart IPN..

Is this a contribution? I am currently using the standard PayPal payment module that came with osc..

The PayPal payment verfication for the missing order actually came through to me, but the order did not show up on the Orders listing..... Is there a way to add it manually? I've downloaded the StepByStepOrdersV1.2 contrib, but boy does it look complicated! I'm somewhat afraid to add it...

I looked in the contributions but couldnt seem to find any.Has anyone any ideas..

What do you mean by pre-orders? recurring ones? I would assume you would only use this for existing customers?.

A bit more detail please...
