I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I discover an answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably can answer it..

My suggestion to you is since you are on our program, try limiting the wine for a special occasion instead of having it every single day. Our womens meal plan is 1200 calories. You do not want to substitute wine for anything since wine does does not give you the essential nutrients and vitamins that you would get from other foods. It is very important to add in your dairy/protein, fruit and vegetables..
You will need to consume 3500 calories less in order to lose one pound of fat. On this program, an average weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week which is a healthy weight lose. If you decide to drink wine every day, you will be consuming more than 1200 calories and your weight loss might be slower..

Long story short they can't stop you from drinking, but yes when you drink it will be "off program". Not recommended...
It also complicates things in that drinking can reduce one's self-control possibly resulting in off-plan eating...

I haven't had a drink in 8 or 10 weeks. However I do plan to do some drinking over the thanksgiving holiday, and of course Christmas, with friends and family. My plan is Patron, Cabo Wabo, or Don Julio Anjeo shots, while keeping a bottle of water or diet soda in my hand. With no mixers, or multiple beers, I won't be wasting a lot of extra calories...
Maybe not a lot of calories, but you better triple that bottled water order, bud..
The alcohol will remove water from your system and dehydrate you within just a few hours..
So not only do those of you who think you can just "cheat a little" have to adjust your caloric intake to allow for the drinking, but you have to overcome the dehydration effects as well, since staying hydrated is part of the Nutrisystem program too..
My question is why do you have to drink? Think about it...
I don't have to, but I want to. As I said I haven't had a drink in 8-10 weeks, so I hardly have a drinking issue. Prior to Nutrisystem I only had a drink 2 or 3 times per month. However, I will take your advice on having extra water. Thanks...
Check the label or maybe a web site. You would be SURPRISED at how high in calorie each shot is..
But now and then, we just decide to NOT diet and celebrate. Then the next day, we get back in the saddle again and keep going. If it is once in a blue moon, it really doesn't matter..
Hadn't really thought about it but I haven't had a drink since I started NS..
I guess that life style change took hold.
I also am guessing I saved some money on the way..
I would recommend anyone just starting Nutrisystem to not drink for at least 3 months. It is best to follow the program completely and develop the good habits..
After three months you can decide if you want to drink, but I can guarantee that it will cause you to gain weight if you don't adjust other parts of the program to off-set it...
Before Nutrisystem I drank too much. Two before dinner cocktails, wine with dinner and an after dinner drink to 'wind down.'.
During Nutrisystem I drank one glass of wine per night. 1/2 glass before dinner, water with dinner and 1/2 glass after dinner for fun - with a big glass of water next to it to help me keep from downing it too quickly..
After Nutrisystem - I generally have two glasses of wine per night. One before dinner (more realistically, it is one after work!! ) Then water with dinner and a nice glass of wine after dinner winding down before bed...
On my first go around on NS, I just limited it to Vodka and Diet Tonic water..
It didn't slow my weight loss down much. Of course you will have folks who tell you it's off plan(which it is). But a couple drinks here and there isn't the end of the world..
And if it keeps you sane, like it did me while I lost weight, then by all means have a couple...

I have been on Nutrisystem for almost 3 years, at goal for almost two years. I have ONE glass.
Red (4-6-0zs.) most every night. On Saturday nights from time to time I have two glases. I am sure it slowed my weight loss..i mean..they are empty calories, right?....but I will never know for sure how much..

"cheating"....it was instead, a part.
My regular diet...that was an important mindset...ya dont want the mind to think cheating is ok and go all "hog wild" and eat all kinds.
Btw...from time to time (prolly 6-7 times in last year) I have had more than 1/2 bottle in a night. Not sayin' you should do that, or that it's right...just giving you my experience...
I have found that a few oz of Jack or a glass of wine won't affect me. I did find that there is a strict metabolic line that may be unique to me (?), that when I go from 3 oz to 4 oz of Jack, for example, it will blow my entire week of weight loss. Wine seems to be more forgiving...

I stopped drinking and attribute at least one pound per week loss from my stopping..
I drank a 1.75L of scotch (at home) and had 2-3 bar bills each week..
After one year on the program, I sometimes have a double or two (once a month or so) and it knocks me on my a$$..
I don't really miss it, but it's definitely part of my lifestyle and family tradition..
The hardest part was breaking the 5 PM drink, with the wife, each evening. A 30+ year ritual is hard to do..
The lack of bar bills alone pays for Nutrisystem and then some..
(that's just a side effect)..
