That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..
Just move all files and folder to where you want then resetup the configure.php in catalog and admin....its that easy...
Sounds easy, but what would happen if you just copied the directory up? alot of my product pages are listed really high in search engines and I would hate to see a customer directed to a broken link/non existent link...
Yes, but it will only be temperary. the next time googlebot hits your iPage site it will be updated..
Placing your index in the root will help boost your iPage site ranking..
That makes sense. I guess it would be a good idea to find out when I can expect google to index my iPage site again and then make the switch a day or two before I get indexed..
Also, what program would be best to do this transfer? I use wsftp_pro to access my ftp. could I use this, or should I contact my webhost and have them move the files?.
And the only two files I will have edit after the swap is the cofigure.php in the admin and catalog directories? also, this won't mess anything up as far as my SSL and authorize.net stuff?..
You guys are talking about google, and I have a question my iPage site is already up and I submitted to google, and when I do a search with google it still does not bring up my site..
I have meta tags up and running too...
It can take up to 60 days from submition till it gets posted..
You won't know when google comes back, no real way to schedule that. just take the downtime and make a cutsom 404 error page that redirects to index.php.
Google is constantly on my site, you should see if it hits you often...
Thx for the answer, I'll have to check that out..
In regards to a cutsom 404 error page that redirects to index.php is a super great idea!!!.
I just wish I knew how to make one, can you by any chance point me to the right direction?.
I will be so greatful!..
I'd also like to know more on this custom 404 page.
Also, what is the best method to use in order to move the files? program wise?..
You are lucky you can at least view your shop catalog. Can you help me too? I cannot view my shop at all. Instead of that comes my host Doteasy.com.
Regarding your problem isn`t possible to do this just using FTP?.
Ftp is just fine for file transfer. it can take some time to move everything, but it's worth it..
Custom redirect pages are simple, a very basic html page with a meta refresh..
Do a google search on custom error pages..
For a custom 404 page.
As far as progams go most of the FTP programs are basicaly the same it jsut depends which one you are most comfortable with. Cute and WU I think might be the mnore popular. You can find others at www.download.com.
Persoanly I prefer to disable FTP and use SSH which is jsut a secured method of conencting to the server...
How do I move my iPage site from.
I know whti might sound stupid, but I really don't know how....
Also is there a way I can edit osCommerce with adobe golive 6.0?..
I am still trying to figure it out ... but you might want to check out this thread too..
