Please discontinue reading Tough Love threads if they are going to cause you to become upset..

Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstenance from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I find an decent answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could help you..

Morning Jan. You finally got to kick things off!.

Crawling off in search of coffee..

Here's a bit of awesome for your reading pleasure:.

Hero: 1 vs 40..

Jan -.

You don't need smacked. You just need to do what you know you should be doing..

Thanks for staring us off...

Morning Jan and MT and corbie.

I had too much salt last night, and not enough water, today is drink drink drink day .. heading to curves this am also..

Have a great one everybody..

Good morning all. Jan, you know what to do. The only reason I'm seeing these big losses is because I weigh more than you do! I also rely on gum a lot. I need to switch back to the minty stuff, though, because the fruity stuff I like doesn't keep it's flavor long enough..

I'm so tired of winter. It's snowing now and lots of schools are posting early dismissals. I don't think we'll close early, but Emma's school likely will be closed tomorrow. The whole county will likely be closed tomorrow. And she's come down with a terrible cough, too. Great..

I'm a little sore from last night's workout, but in a good way. Each little pinch reminds me that this is what I should be doing. Hope everyone is having a good morning. I'm off to get the little one bundled up good and out to the bus. Hopefully, it's on time since it's only 9 degrees out!.

See you all at the office!..

Got a good workout on the treadmill. Last week I stopped exercising thinking maybe I was overdoing it since, technically, I was still in my first 3 weeks. Didn't want to put my body in starvation mode. Maybe changing things up a little will help. Gotta hit the shower and get to the I can be there a while before they send us home.

Have a great day!! Everyone in the storm belt - be safe!!..

Good morning everyone. Day off due to bad weather. Easter vacation is officially one day shorter. Not complaining though. I just started a fire in the fireplace, so if the electric goes warm, this uninsulated body can stay warm. I have a date with Gilad on Fit TV.

Unfortunately, I'm not giong in to school today to show them that I am not in pain. They won't believe me..

I already smacked Jan..

Good morning MT, thanks for sharing!.

Good morning Steph, Penny and Anna..

Have a great day everyone. Stay safe and warm in the weather. Those of you in upstate NY, hope for snow instead of this icy stuff we are getting...

Good morning all! Staying home today and probably tomorrow with this weather..

I have plenty of work to do though since I can still log into my work computer from home..

My challenge today will be staying OP since I'm out of my regular routine. I'm not worried at all though. I made sure I had celery sticks and pickle spears to get me through if I need them..

I might try making some Medifast soup in the crockpot with part of my green added in it. That sounds good on a cold day like today...

Chickie.....make that list of 10 minute chores. Every time you go "shopping" for food when it isn't time, do a chore. Sock drawer, wash room, big clothes out of the closet, box in the basement or attic, desk drawer, and the list goes on. I'm going to clean DH's closet of big clothing. Since I've changed my eating habits, he has lost over 30 pounds. Go figure....I worked hard and my changes change him...

Morning TL's..

Gotta love winter! The dh made it down a couple exits on the thruway and turned back home. It took him over an hour to go 30 miles. The schools are in our immediate area are not closing yet..

Need water! Be safe out there!..

Good Morning! Home from work today b/c of snow. I will do some work from home (even though that is not allowed and I still have to take a sick day - boo!) and will probably start p90x today. I posted some questions on the January p90x starters thread - if any of you are doing it or have done it I'd love your input..

Jan - I agree you probably don't deserve a slap and that some just lose slower. I do have a question though - why is your weight higher than your ticker? Are you restarting? or is it b/c of the extra condiments? If the discrepany is b/c of the extra condiments then it is a bigger problem than it sounded like and you do get a *SLAP*.

Chickie - I don't know how this fits into the tough love philosophy but while you certainly shouldn't make excuses and justifications for your pb incident I don't believe continuing to berate yourself and discounting the weight loss you did have for the 99% of last week that you stayed OP is healthy either..

I have one of those little dip crockpots at work and I make the chicken noodle in it and it tastes sooo good!.

Waving to MT, Corbie, Penny, Anna, Barb & anyone else I missed!..

Mia - we were posting at the same time - you just made me feel better about not trying to go in!..

I hope all of you with nasty weather stay safe, warm and with POWER!!! And I will refrain from telling you what the high temp is going to be here tomorrow...

Anna, if you tell us we may have to smack you! Although this nice fire is helping take the chill off!..

That's why I chose to keep it to myself, I'm only getting smacked in here for actual Medifast related things.

(Well hopefully not, but I'm not doing it for the weather)..

, the soup sounds good, I should do that sometimes, what do you add?.

I wonder why they haven't cancelled your schools, of course I live where they word snow flurry closes school..

Thanks Sugar girl. I'm not berating myself any more..

I just know me. And my old me would have taken that loss last week and said "see you can still eat what you want from time to time and you will still lose.".

That doesn't work. I've proved that too myself time and time again and that's why I'm here. Becuase, no, I cannot eat whatever I want..

So although I'm not beating myself up anymore or feeling bad about it, I do need to remember that I am cheating myself if I cheat on the plan. And that's not cool...

Um, that was good idea and not goof idea. lol!..

I'm using this recipe I found on the forums..

7 packets Chicken Noodle Soup.

1 packet Cream of Chicken Soup, if desired (can also use Cream of Broccoli for unique flavor).

Season as desired: garlic powder/salt, onion powder/flakes, cilantro, parsley, basil, tarragon, etc).

6 - 8 cups water.

1 can Rotel tomatoes.

Cook 4-6 hours in the crockpot. Divide into 7-8 servings, depending of the number of Medifast Packets used..

Count as veggie for each serving. Can be refrigerated for up to 7 days or frozen..

I also added a proportionate amount of frozen green beans. This will be the first time I tried it, but I think I will like it. I will eat it even if I don't like it since I used $15 worth of soup. lol!..

DE, where are you!? You didn't forget to eat and pass out did you?.

Please check in..

I completely agree - but I do remember in your post you took ownership of the fact that your loss would have been 4 lbs. if you had not slipped so I was confident you weren't going to use it as proof that you could cheat and still lose..

Yum. Now I'm going to make soup for lunch later...

Good morning TLers..

Today is my weigh in and I'm down an even two lbs from last week. I'll take it..

I hope all you cold weather girls stay warm today. I'm with Anna and won't say what the temp is supposed to be here today..

I was thinking last night.... I picked up my four year old from daycare yesterday. He got in trouble in the morning because he stuck his tongue out at the teacher. On the way home I asked him why he did it. He said that she told them to clean up and he wanted to keep reading his book so he "accidentally" stuck his tongue out at her. He did add that he immediately apologized and he knew he wasn't supposed to do it.

He has control over what he does and he'd better not ever do that again..

That's kind of like what some people think about dieting. You can "accidentally" eat a bowl of ice cream or two slices of pizza. It's an accident, you know you're not supposed to, so you apologize and move on. Of course with that mindset, most people will have the same "accidents" over and over again..

I like how the girls here have handled their accidents the last few days. They take ownership, admit their mistakes. They understand it is not an "accident". They were in control of their actions. I think that with this mindset, a person is much less likely to make the same mistake..

And I'm done and I need to get ready for work. Happy OP day everyone...

Congrats about the loss Cheri! I'm always happy if I have a 2 lb loss...

Um, no. lol!.

I;m sad we can;t have those right now...

Cheri.....great post! Putting food in our mouths is certainly not an accident. Ordering a diet coke and having them give us a regular one is one thing, but dishing out a bowl of ice cream when it isn't on my plan is no accident. It is a conscious decision. That's what I need to control..

Congrats on your 2 pound week! I love losers...

Chickie my love, I'm in maintenance and they're not on plan for me either. They went in the trash. Last thing I need is to bloat up on them...

Morning Everyone....Big waves to all..

Ya know when you are all so tough on yourselves you don't leave much room for the Tough Love to kick in .....LOL We are all adults with free will as such we need to own the choices we make, even the good ones..

OMG Cheri-You have to love the little ones, they are so sweet. Enjoy him..

Wishing everyone in the freezy-zone a day of warmth and safety!!.

I'm so feeling my workout from yesterday!! I've moved into the "Push" phase of Chalean Extreme: heavier weights, lower reps!! I love this stuff!!.

I'm going to try on some of my older work pants this morning...not sure if it's a good idea yet, but I can't resist. They were getting so muffin-toppy. I'll report back later..

Nothing exciting happening around here, just another day of water drinking and bathroom going...

BOO! We can't have them on maintenance either? so sad. I guess it's not the worst thing in the world...

I've never heard of wasabi peas....guess that is a good thing if they are so tasty that they are not wise to keep around on maintenance..

I have a lot to get accomplished today but have been dragging my feet. Better just suck it up and get things done..

Have a great day everyone!..

Going to run out and take DD to work so she doesn't have to drive in this. Up to 30 inches expected....Gawd..

Be safe to all those in the storm's path!.

I worked out my disappointment in myself last night and I have T. Rex arms. I could barely shampoo my hair! The thought of blow drying my hair guess it's a loose braid day. Nothing like a good cleansing sweatfest to get me back on track..

Good morning and have a fab afternoon...

Wasabi peas...mmmmm...... yummmm.

My husband keeps them in the house. He snacks on them. I just ignore them. They are my enemy. LOL..

At work now. Work emails have been reviewed and printed, day is planned, music is on. Having my hot cocoa and coffee. I should make it...

Lynne, yes up to 30" for us, too. Snow first, then ice, then more snow. I just got word that my boss is closing the office tomorrow. Oh, boy, do I have some chores on MY list! I recently bought some of those bed risers so I can store some "don't quite fit yet" clothes under there in drawers. One of my dressers (yes, I have several) is rickety and I am constantly fighting with the drawers. They are going under the bed. That whole corner of my room will be opened up now...

I love wasabi peas, too. Unfortunately, the "good" ones ae fried and don't fit anywhere in a healthy diet...

There must be a way to make wasabi peas out of cauliflower and condiments...everything else can be made this way, right?..

I am so glad I don't like those wasabi things. Burn up my mouth!..

I've only had the jar of wasabi beans from Costco, but they weren't fried and the calories and fat were not bad at all..

I'm glad I haven't had the fried ones if they are that much better. I would rather not know what I'm missing out on. lol!..

Who's planning to be 100% OP with me today?..

Me too!!! I've already had 8 glasses of water..

ME!!!! (Despite my cheating dreams last night - it's been a while since that happened! New relationship stressing me out much? Even good change is stressful!!!!)..

*Waving* Oh, darn. I forgot water! That's ok the day is still young. 100% op. I did remember to eat/drink my Medifast meals this morning..

Penny- SOOO jealous! I have to work tomorrow unless they close the mall. I'm off today! Ssshh... the dh is home too and the kids are still at school. heheheehe...

Me, me!!.

FYI Wasabi peas: 1/3 cup 125 calories most of it fat and salt. 20g of carbs in that 1/3 cup...

Well I'll follow you there, but I won't state that I'll follow you anywhere.....

Penny - Going off plan is not an option on this team. NEVER!!!.

Just sayin'...

NEVER! No choices. You want choices? Go count points...

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!.

Well, either that or: would you like a chocolate shake or a banana shake?..

Or "Am I brave enough to have chili for breakfast?"..

I got to goal last July, did NOT follow T&M and gained some weight, about 15 lbs. Started 5&1 in the fall, but didn't stick with it for more than 10 days at a time, so weight kept creeping up. I reset my ticker and kept restarting 5&1. Over Christmas I got totally out of control and even more crept on. I'd have to look at my spreadsheet at home to remember exactly when I was at 158, but I got up higher than that & never reset it cuz I thought I'd lose it in a hurry once I got serious. I'm serious now, have been OP for 3 weeks, but still have the condiment issue. The ticker is accurate now...

Glad to hear it is not b/c of the condiment issue. I really didn't want to slap you! I really don't want to slap anyone, instead of slapping can I just rub my right index finger over my left and say "shame, shame" when someone needs a slap? LOL!..

Crime! I have to go out and get the Nana's Van. I should have done it last night..

Chili sounds really good! Hmmm... Maybe I'll make some for the family...

Chili is only a breakfast food when you have a 9 am meeting...

Morning (oops afternoon) Tlr's!.

OP with ya Penny!! Had Beef Stew for breakfast and Vanilla/Orange shake for lunch (da bomb!)..

Listening to Mexican rock n' roll (I guess that's what they call it) while my roof and ceilings get redone today. So excited! Also putting fake dormers up on the house so it has a bit more pizazz. They're also pressure washing it so it's gonna be SWEET!.

No chopped tofu!..

OMG my elderly next door neighbor used to do that when she would see all of us hoodlams in the yard......

Morning ladies! 100% on plan today. I think I posted my second victory post last night after everyone had gone to bed! To recap: I'm exercising again and I hurt all over but also it feels good and yay me!.

Apparently some of you girls couldn't keep your weather to yourself, and I woke up to a white Tuesday. Our apartment building is at the bottom of a bit of a hillyou can't get far without driving up itand we've been listening to one person in a truck just spinning their wheels for the better part of the last hour trying to get out. Apparently while I was sleeping last night, it rained and frozethen sleetedTHEN snowed. Sounds to me like a good day to stay in! Fortunately DH and I are both off work todayno big...

Okay - question for you gals (and guys)..

What's a good thing to do with the Blueberry Oatmeal (other than chunking it in the trash....)?.

I'm not a big fan but was "blessed" by someone and they LOVED the blueberry...

He he - I'm in the minority who LOVE the oatmeal. Well, except the peach one. I do agree that it smells like cat pee. But I love a touch of nutmeg in the blueberry, or a small squirt of lemon juice...

Muffins! 1 packet oatmeal, 1 packet pudding, 1 packet Medifast eggs, some baking powder, enough water to make it muffin-batter-ish, and any extracts/spices you want. Bake 350 for 11-15 minutes (less for 1/2 meal smaller muffins, more for full meal larger muffins). I like to make lemon-blueberry muffins - delish!.

Sorry I can't remember how much baking powder. But if you check the recipe boards there will be something to give you an amount...

Thank Penny & Freya..

I actually do like the peach and apple cinnamon but just have never tried the blueberry. I unfortunately don't have a lot of "fixin's" to put in them so will have to wait on Freya's option. I'll try adding the nutmeg and making them into a "cookie" thingy. I prefer something with a crunch instead of chewy...

Adding another question - Penny have you tried them with Tru Lemon??..

Totally off the topic of muffins, but out of curiousity on my lunch hour today, I looked up the carbs/cal/fat of the foods I used to eat pre-MF. And holy crapbags! No wonder I'm a lardass! Just sayin'.... what an eye-opener...

I actually used them to make blueberry pancakes......I love the oatmeal anyway but blueberry pancakes are my fave and these are pretty good with a little ICBIBS and sprinkle of cinn...

This is a realization most of us come to.....I always wonder literally how I didn't weigh 600 pounds. Food is scary stuff...

Food isn't scary, the stuff man makes into food is!!!!! I checked out some labels on Sunday when I was at a friend's house for dinner. Holy smokes! Crazy amount of carbs in beans, tortillas, and other stuff...

Lynne - what else did you add to them? Or did you just mix them as usual and put in a frying pan?..

Karen, sorry for the late reply. I left work and braved the craziness of the roads around here. Whew! Glad to be home..

I've used Tru Lime and Tru Lemon. I'd say one packet is about perfect for one Medifast oatmeal...

Me ME ME Me! I'm OP! I'm with ya Penny..

I've even got most of my water done today!.

I won't mention the sunshine and windows down drive. Nope. Not. at. all...

I'm OP!!!.

As for the oatmeal... yummm.. oatmeal.... I add 8 (yes, exactly 8) raw almonds that I break into little pieces. Adds just the right amount of crunch..

I made a chocolate brownie for morning snack today. As I was sitting in my office enjoying, I had 3 different people stop by and ask what smelled so good. HA!!! My Medifast brownie. I'm thinking about giving out free bites. First one's free. After that, I will sell my Medifast brownies for $3.00 each.

I'm guessing that's not the "right" thing to do. Fine. Whatever...

Picked up the Nana's van then took the volvo for a spin in the snow. Hheheehehehe! That was fun. Yes, I'm weird. I like taking the car out in the snow and playing in empty unplowed parking lots! My kids love it when the DH takes them all out in it and lets them drive..

Hope everyone made home safe. Smile! Anyone remember the 1993 blizzard? That was an epic one! Our Saab was buried in 6 feet of snow. Berne,New York! Or the December one in 2003/04?..

Lucky you! My coworker hates the smell of them nuking so badly he's banned them from the office. I have to nuke them at home and keep them in the freezer at work...

Too funny. Peeps at my office drool over my brownies too. They also love the smell of the CN soup...

So I made a Blueberry pancake - sorta. Added 1 packet Tru lemon (definitely just right Penny), 1/8 tsp baking powder and a pinch of nutmeg. Interesting - would do it again if nothing else as a quick way to get rid of the Blueberry oatmeal...........

Mia, I remember the 2002-2003 storm most vividly. I was pregnant, outside shoveling with my 75 year old mom so I could park where the city police said I needed to park for the snow emergency. Lo and behold, in the morning, my car had been towed. They told me to park on the wrong side. $160 tow charge, $50 ticket. No recourse...

My hubby has actually been caught scarfing one of my brownies......before I could even get it out of the microwave! when I told him what it was he was surprised, said it liked it but won't eat another one at all...

Yum, brownies! DH is always asking where his is after I make one for me..

Apple oatmeal makes a yummy muffin. The banana shake makes a really good french toast!.

All this talk about food is making me hungry!..

Me!! 100% on plan. I will never count points again!.

Trying a new Clean Eating recipe for dinner. When you hit transition and maintenance, you have to try some of these. Snow days are for new recipes..

Karen, I love the oatmeal and still eat it today. I have made the blueberry oatmeal into those muffins. Recipe on the box. LOLit was one of the only recipes I made and it wasnt until after I was in transition and maintenance...

I love Clean Eating magazine. Hard to look at on 5+1, but lots of great recipes for maintenance...

Looks like a great group... can I join? :-).

My name is Kendra... on day 3 of my second time w/ Medifast. I did it last year for a couple months, lost 17 pounds, then somehow lost ALL motivation, fell off the wagon, and rationalized that my weight loss had slowed down to a pound a week and I could do that with Medifast and have way more *CHOICES* :-) Needless to say, after a year of ping ponging around on Medifast and never really sticking to it because it's WAY too easy to cheat... I'm back to Medifast. And extremely committed this time. Also SUPER excited because my shipment comes today and it's full of only the things I KNOW I like...

That's why it's left over! Anyway, just wanted to find a good group to help me stay accountable and on track and this looks like a great one! I love the tough love attitude!.

I see that you all sometimes post more than once throughout the day... don't think I'm a snob if I only make it in once a day! I am a single mom of a 4 year old, working 40+ hours a week and going to school 4 nights a week, so my free time is extremely limited!.

Talk to you all soon! (I'll also have a picture and my ticker and all that soon. Just as soon as I find the time, lol!)..

Welcome Kendra..

Penny, I've got to change my carbs and protein ratio for running. Even in maintenance, I have been really high on my protein and low on my carbs. It is affecting my running, so I am trying to change the ratio. Clean Eating has really helped and is much lower in calories that Cooking Light, although I've found some good recipes in there as well..

I think what amazes me the most is how my taste has changed. I am eating all sorts of things I never would have eaten before...

Seven inches today and another twelve tomorrow... what were we talking about?..

Thanks, Rach. I lost it there for a minute. Thinking about September.....

September.....that means back to school. I'll just think about June...

I guess all we can do is hang on.....

I hope you all stay warm. It's going to be windy here but 70, thank goodness!.

My dh leave Kuwait in 28 days...
