How Can I transfer my Domain Name to iPage?

Quick question: How Can I transfer my Domain Name to iPage? Thanks for any answer or 2. Another question I got... Hi, I'd like to add a box to the main page area (not in a column), which will contain content that will alternate among a number of 'templates' each time the iPage site is refreshed, much like a "specials" or "what's new" infobox. I would create a selection of html files that it would display one at a time..

The rest of the main page area (outside this box) would just be done in define main page, which I've already installed..

Has anyone done this?..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you help..

Thanks, that might work. But ideally, it would automatically change to a different file each time the page is reloaded or accessed, like the what's new infobox, for example. The number of files to choose from will increase, however, I could get by with a fixed number of files (around 20 or so) and swap them out manually every now and then. I'm not a programmer at all...would this be a simple mod?..

The code could be made to pick a random file every time the page is updated. You could also change the number of files to select from, but this would mean a code change every time. Could probably set it in the Admin. You would have to make certain that you always set this number to the number of files (or less)..

It would be cleaner to store everything in the database. That's going to be a lot more work to set up, and I really don't have the time right now. I'll see what I can do about the simple version; that should only take a few minutes. And an hour or so to find my typos..

Ok, that wasn't as bad as I thought. This is a fairly simple mod to the existing contribution. Just get a copy of the contribution that I mentioned before. Find the file named text_box.php, then find the following line of code in it (Line 24 in mine):.

 $html_file = DIR_WS_LANGUAGES$language'/html/'basename($PHP_SELF,".php")'_text_box.html';.

And replace it with this code:.

 srand((double)microtime()*1000000);.

 $random = rand(1, MAX_HTML_INCLUDES);.

 $html_file = DIR_WS_LANGUAGES$language'/html/text_box_'$random'.html';.

Now save that file in includes/modules/..

Then add this code into the file where you want the box to appear:.

         <tr>.

           <td class="main">.

             <?php require(DIR_WS_MODULES'text_box.php'); ?>.

           </td>.

         </tr>.

Now run this SQL command to add the admin interface:.

INSERT INTO configuration VALUES (NULL, 'HTML includes', 'MAX_HTML_INCLUDES', '10', 'The maximum number of HTML files to include in the box', 1, 99, '2004-05-04 18:05:17', '2004-05-04 18:00:50', NULL, NULL);.

Now create your HTML files and save them as text_box_1.html, text_box_2.html, etc. in includes/languages/english/html/. You will need a separate set for each language that you use..

Now open your Admin interface and look under Configuration/My Store. There will be an item at the bottom named.

HTML includes.

Set that to the number of HTML files that you just added. Your page should now randomly select one of those HTML files and include it in the box on the page. You will need to give the box a heading in the appropriate language file as well..

I just gave this a quick test and it seems to be working just fine. Please let me know if you have any problems..

I'm having trouble getting this contrib working..

I followed all the instructions and as far as I can tell I did everything right. I'm trying to get the section called "Generic Text Box" working so I can display a text box above my new products box (instead of replacing the new products box as the prior section covers)..

All I get is the text_box.html text showing on my index.php, but it is not enclosed in a box - it's just text. I did some more tinkering and while I assume the text_box.php file is pretty important, it is not referenced anywhere in the installation instructions (except for being listed as one of the optional files). The problem is the instructions never tell you where to put it, and the code I'm putting into the index.php file does not refer to the file..

Looking for a little guidance on setting this up..

Thanks.

There is an error in the instructions for this contribution. I've posted an updated version in the contributions section..

To fix this problem, change the code that you pasted into the index.php to this:.

         <tr>.

           <td><?php echo tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '10'); ?></td>.

         </tr>.

        <tr>.

          <td class="main">.

<?php.

 require(DIR_WS_MODULES'text_box.php');.

?>.

          </td>.

        </tr>.

         <tr>.

           <td><?php echo tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '10'); ?></td>.

         </tr>.

Now copy the text_box.php from the contribution files to includes/modules/. You should now get a box around your text..

Spoke too soon, but I fixed it..

There is a little bug in the text_box.php.

The line that looks like this:.

$html_file = DIR_WS_LANGUAGES$language'/html/'basename($PHP_SELF,".php")'_text_box.html';.

Should look like this:.

$html_file = DIR_WS_LANGUAGES$language'/html/'basename($PHP_SELF,".php")'.html';.

OR.

If you leave the code as it is, then the html file that populates the textbox must be named text_box_text_box.html.

Thanks!.

Oops. I'll fix that one and upload again. Thanks for catching my mistakes..

There is a.

Contribution.

That will put a box on any page and populate it from a HTML file. It is set up to do static content, but it could be easily modified to select from a random group of files. Then again, it might be better to draw the content from a database table. It all depends on how fancy you want to get..

Will the HTML files be constant, or will you be adding and deleting files? This gits a bit more complicated if you want to make changes often. You can use a few shortcuts if you never intend to change the number of HTML files after the initial setup..
