Good question... I dunno what is the answer to that question. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can help you..
How do I do that exactly?! I'm a bit of a dunce...
Cheers for the reply..
Install an FTP program..
Use the Connect interface to connect to your server..
Right click on the file to be edited on your server - you should see EDIT..
Click it - it should open, probably in notepad. You can search through the options of the FTP prog to configure a more suitable editor..
Edit away...click save, click the FTP program so it is active, and there should be a question of whether you want to upload the edited file, or cancel. Upload, and test..
Dont forget, download any files you change as a backup onto your harddrive, before editing..
Hope it helps...
Ive done that but I have no idea where to put the text in the php.....without messin up the code......
Just search it out....use the search function of the editor to search a specific word, then change ONLY that text - as long as you stick to the text it should work - as you backed up the original, you can try stuff out as much as you like without worrying. If it all goes Pete Tong, you can delete it and upload the backup again...
Hi, as it says I go to [path to catalog]/includes/languages/english/index.php to edit the page text. But when I do it says.
"Error: I can not write to this file. Please set the right user permissions on: /home/#######/public_html/includes/languages/english/index.php".
What do I do...i just wanna change what it says on the index page!!!.
I've never had much luck with editing through the interface - you're better off using FTP and uploading edited files, I've set up my FTP so I can edit straight from the server using the editor of my choice (Dreamweaver)..
I'm using LeapFTP..
Best thing is to always backup your current version (or the file you want to change) before you make any changes. That way you can always go back if it didn't work out...
