Got a question, hope someone can answer... How do I find out who a site's iPage web host provider is? Looking forward for any comment. My 2nd question... Ok I posted back awhile ago needing hel with tables and I started my iPage site from scratch and there was a topic about that too well guys thanx check out my site.

It might load slowly just cause of crappy iPage hosting and I isnt a professional iPage site but this is the first iPage site I have made and it is organized (the coding that is) like you guys suggested I even figured out the whole.css and .js files and putting that stuff in separte files for each script then linking the page to exec those files.

Thanx for all your help but I do have one more question and I cant find the script on the internet go.

HERE.

And you see at the top how he has "about me" and "likes" and "links" etc well how did he make it so when you click on a link it just pops up that little menu with the close link? if you could help me out on that I would appreciate it but you guys have done so much already I am very thankful you guys have helped me learn alot..

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could help you..

I am also at that res, changed to 800x600 and couldn't see the menu at all, a couple of.

Errors.

In the code, doubt they are causing the problem..

It must be something to do with the js, i've gotta go out now but will have a better look at it later if no-one else has solved it for you..

1) do not tell peole to change there settings for your page. if you cod eit right it should look good at all resolutions..

2) why have a floating menu when the iPage site doesn't even scroll???? your menu script is messed up in mozilla1.3.

3) that iPage site you gave about the text popup boxes that guy used, well although that is nice it doesn't even work in Mozilla, only IE..

And wha tmenu are you guys talking about where you can't see it? I saw everythig on 800x600...

1) I'm new to coding I dont think I know enough to get it to look right at all resolutions if you could maybe help me with that I would appreciate it I knew before I made the alert about the screen resolution it should be the same on all resolutions if I did everything right but I am a html n00b and am trying my best. I would really appreciate it if you guys could help me get it so it is viewed the saem and everything on every resolution. I attached a .zip file of all the stuff I have uplaoded including the htmls the .css's and the .js's I used evrsoft 1st page to do everything.thanx alot guys.

2)i have a floating menu when it doesnt scroll because I am going to add stuff to the page and that way when I do I dont have to mess with the menu then, it will already be ready to float.

3) I would still like to know how he did it I liekd it alot.

U said you saw everything on 800x600, how messed up did my iPage site look?.

And leoo I went to w3c and checked all my sites and all the errors that were left, I have no idea how to make them go away without totally screwing up the site..

I agree you should in no way tell your visitors what to do, with tables your iPage site will fit to any res (although it may distort at some).

Scoutt, it was the floating menu that disappears, I had to scroll to see the rest of his page at.

Globe, you have called in your floatingmenu js at the end of the page, it should be in the head:.

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.boomspeed.com/boxcarmember/sitefloatingmenu.js"></script>..

Do you mean it should be at the beginning of the <body> section or in the <head> section?..

Oops, sorry, in the head section and try changing it to.

<script language="javascript" src="http://www.boomspeed.com/boxcarmember/sitefloatingmenu.js"></script>.

Instead of.

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://www.boomspeed.com/boxcarmember/sitefloatingmenu.js"></script>.

/added.

I'm gonna download your iPage site see if I can figure it out, i've got myself all tangled up !!..

Thanx a million man I am really liking this html stuff it is a great hobby but I rather be good at a hobby than not know what I am doing lol otherwise it isnt really a hoby but a hassle..

That code is alright, just one.

Error.

, though really it is three errors, that you need to fix..

<font size="2"; font color="FFFFFF">.

- you should remove the semi-colon and the second repeat of the word.

Font.

The color code should have a.

#.

Before it, so the line should only be:.

<font size="2" color="#FFFFFF">.

Check the rest of the iPage site for errors, and post again if you need any help...

Globe where did you get that floating menu js, do you have a url?..

Ok thanx giz, as for the # w3c says it is an invalid character so I took all the # symbols out.

And leoo the js code I got from here.

AHHHHHH I looked at my iPage site at work which is a different resolution and it is screwed up I'm gonna break something lol =).

Also leoo I put the .js for the floating menu in the head section and in at the beginning of the body section and it doesnt even work the only time it works is when it is at the bottom of the body section? weird..

Yeah, I needed to see the the instructions with the code to see how they wanted it to be called in, you had it in the right place, there's something else pushing offscreen, which i'm trying to find.

It's quite a laugh battling with html isn't it..

Lol ya it is....i have no idea but maybe the reveal.js and reveal2.js may be conflicting with the floatingmenu.js anopther thing isd I have a sitefloatingmenu.js and a defaultfloatingmenu.js the iPage site is used for the iPage site (der) and the default is used for the programs, links and journal page because on those pages I have the var x and y is diff..

It might have something to do with all those line break you have at teh top of the document. take those out..

Also to make your iPage site compatible to all most all resolutions then just make you tables a percentage instead of fixed width...

I understand now too about the not being able to see the navigation menu on the iPage site it is just because the .js refers to x and y positions if there is some other way to postion it that should solve the problem I would think.

And if I go to a screen resolution bigger than 1280x1024 even the background color doesnt turn black and stuff isnt centered align ahhhh?.

Also another thing that will make it look alittle better is for the table on the main page and the smaller tables ont he other pages, how do I make the image non repeating that way I can center it..

Ok I knew about the percentages....but didnt really think about it, thats y I am trying to get the background images for the tables to be non repeating that way I can center them and adjust the percentages without having to worry about letting the edge of the image being able to be seen. what percentage do you suppose would be close to 400px on my screen resolution (1280x1024) for the height? and all my tbales are percentages except the height and the floating menus but I believe leoo is trying to figure out the floating menu problem..

What do you hav ea 40" monitor??? having a resolution at 1280x1024 is way big. 90% of the net uses 800x600. I have a 19" monitor and 1024x768 is too small fo r me. make your iPage site at lease 1024x768 and it will be good for everybody. try to stay away form the higher resolutions. also a lot of video cards won't even go that high.

400px is about 50% well 45%..

Lol I wish I had a 40" monitor mine is just 17 but I liek the smaller screen but I willset mine to 1024x768 and I willmake adjustments to my page and psot back thanx..

I am going to resize the table background images but having it non reapting then centering it will make a big layout diff...how do I do this?..

Hey globe; right, problem solved, here's the part of the javascript that needs to be adjusted:.

/Enter "frombottom" or "fromtop".

Var verticalpos="frombottom".

If (!document.layers).

Document.write('</div>').

Function JSFX_FloatTopDiv().

{.

Var startX = 3,.

StartY = 205;.

I changed it to "frombottom", and changed the 'startY' value, on your page you had set it to appear just below that pic on the left, so it started off being hidden, which means that it will always reside at that point on the page no-matter how far down you scroll to try to get to it..

So, solution, make the menu image transparent(to a certain degree, not all of it, change the yvalue so it's always visible, note doing this at some point of your scrolling the menu will go over something and block it from view, a reason I think a few people shy away from this..

I have seen it done effectively where there is a left column with nothing in it for the menu to scroll up and down not blocking anything..

Or alternatively you could just have a fixed menu..

Ok cool thanx...i am workin on the other pages right now getting percentages in there tryin to make it look the same on any resoltuion or close to the same..

Ok guys I think I got it where it basically looks the same no matter what the res.

3 things tho:.

1) why r there so many.

Errors.

And can I fix them?.

2)back to my original post, go.

Here.

See at the top how he has "about me" and "likes" and "links" etc well how did he make it so when you click on a link it just pops up that little menu with the close link? I have been looking on the internet and I just cant find one like that many vraiations but not that one.

3) the only thing about my iPage site now is the floating menu....i have it set up and positioned right but if you go to my.

Programs Page.

Or any other of my pages and if you scroll to the bottom, the floating menu makes it so you can continue to scroll and make the page longer and longer. maybe someboyd knows how to correct this or something?.

Thanx for all your help guys..

Yep, loads of.

Errors.

But easy to fix most of them..

Correct the.

Entity errors.

By changing every.

&amp;.

In the URLs to be.

&amp;amp;.

Instead..

All of the.

<a>.

Errors are caused by a nesting error in the table. All other tags.

MUST.

Go.

Inside.

The.

<td> ... </td>.

Pairs. This is not valid code:.

</td>.

</tr>.

</table>.

</layer>.

<td align.

I think there is at least a.

</td>.

Missing before the.

<td>.

Tag...

Killer iPage site dude... you look kinda like eminem, in a wierd way.....

How are you suppose to read that page when the menu goes over the whole screen? I mean it covers 75% of the height and 100% of the width, rigth in the middle. and I am using Mozilla1.3 too...

Ok giz what do I do about the <a> errors? and I donmt quit eunderstand what you r talking abou twith the <td>....</td> tags.

Also ontheproblemwhere the flaoting menu makes it so ucan continue to scroll down the page for forever I fixed that I had to change the height of the table so the browser wouldnt think there was something beyond the screen b/c when the table would snap back into place there would yet again be something beyond the screen and this repeats..
