That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably know..
Thanks Nic - when the iPage site is live are updates done automatically?.
No, there is an addon to do it though. Look in contributions...
Don't happen to know the title by any chance? I can't seem to find it..
TVM - about to put it to the test..
Hi, I keep getting these error messages:.
I tried anything I could think of, checked currency codes with xe, changed default currencies, values, used different browser, checked localization.php, and updates (as I installed my shop in 2005 (2.2) but didnt use it until today) and so on, and the only thread I found about this problem on the forums was this one, what could be possible reason why I cant update currencies?.
I found I had to try three or four times before all my currencies were updated..
This is happening much more than it used to. My guess is that both of those sites are restricting the number of free requests that can be handled during a certain period. Installing the contribution Leslie mentioned will automate it so you don't have to worry about it since the script will keep retrying until the currencies are updated..
Just to let you know how the problem was resolved: I used to have the auto_update_currencies contrib installed properly then but updating currencies just NEVER worked, neither with nore without it, it sure was no problem with the oanda or xe servers as it NEVER worked with NO currency (I know usually from time to time some currencies are not updated by one or the other service). I was reviving a 2.2ms2 version I had installed a couple of years ago, which as far as I read would still do, but probably missing some bug fix that would have taken me ages to find, so I just wiped the whole thing off the server and installed new 2.2rc2 since then it works fine, so it was no server settings issue either...
Clicking on 'Update Currencies' results in a string of error messages - these are they:-.
Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for US Dollar (USD) - trying the secondary exchange rate server..
Error: The exchange rate for US Dollar (USD) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code?.
Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for Euro (EUR) - trying the secondary exchange rate server..
Error: The exchange rate for Euro (EUR) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code?.
Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for Sterling (GBP) - trying the secondary exchange rate server..
Error: The exchange rate for Sterling (GBP) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code?.
Warning: The primary exchange rate server (oanda) failed for Yen (JPY) - trying the secondary exchange rate server..
Error: The exchange rate for Yen (JPY) was not updated via xe. Is it a valid currency code?.
Since this is a completely new installation I don't understand why there shouyld be a problem. All the currency codes are perfectly valid according to XE-Universal Currency Converter!.
What is the problem here please?.
5 mins later: changed the default currency to sterling and all the conversions worked except the conversion to euros! Why?.
