Good question... I dunno what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I find an anything. You should email the people at iPage as they probably know..
I'm having difficulties with the download feature even after following the Wiki docs..
My orders process fine through payment, but the download link created by OSC sends me to a blank page. While the address in the address bar appears to be correct (ends with /download/right_file.name), the html source generated by OSC is actually blank -.
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">.
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!..
Thinking the problem might be with the Download by Referal Link option, I set it to "false"..
Now when I click the download link after checkout I get the file save window to save the downloadable file to my pc. BUT - the file it saves is empty, no data at all..
I really like OSC. But my entire store is virtual download products..
Set the redirect option to true and see if that helps..
I've tried both settings. The redirect produces a blank page; The direct download produces an empty file (tried with both a JPG and ZIP file)..
To ensure that I hadn't messed up any code by poking around, I did a clean install of OSC under a new folder and tested the sample downable product. It doesn't work either - only saves an empty unreal.zip file to your pc. I added 1 new downloadable product and got the same unhappy result...
How are you accepting payments and what do you have the default order option set at? if you are doing things manually, then it will not allow a download until you process the order. also, you need to have pub and downloads set at 777 .....
I'm processing through the Authorze.net payment module..
The default order status is set to "pending". What should it be set on?.
I have checked and double checked my permissions for pub/ and download/ folders..
BTW - thanks for your willingness to give me feedback...
Did you get this fixed? What you need to do is make the status of your download purchases complete or somthing like that..
Thanks. I set the the Order Status in my Payment Module to "Delivered" and Whala! The download finally works..
I appreciate the help!..
Is it possible to configure osCommerce to handle downloads as shopping cart items?.
