How do you enter codes on iPage .com?

Quick question: How do you enter codes on iPage .com? Looking forward for any answer. Another question on my mind: Hi there,.

I have an osCommerce installation for my customer that has been finished some month ago (it was a pre-MS2 version with some heavy individual changes)..

The shop worked fine when we tested it last year. Now the shop has gone life and the first orders arrived from Feb. 11th to Feb. 16th. Since this date, no order can be placed any longer. All cart items disappear after the customer has logged in (with SSL).

I found, that it must be a problem related with SSL because if I turn SSL off, it all works fine again. The Host says they have not changed anything on the server but the curious thing is, that it all worked before (no code has been changed since then)..

The problem is not IE related (same problem with Opera) and obviously not cookie related (I turned the "force cookie use" option on). We are using a shared certificate on the server to realize the SSL..

So I would appreciate any hint, why my cart could get lost while switching to SSL..

TIA.

Marian..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can answer it..

Here is the snippet:.

=================.

Define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://nets-for-pets.com'); // eg,.

Http://localhost.

- should not be empty for productive servers.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://hestia.hmdnsgroup.com/~holger'); // eg,.

Https://localhost.

- should not be empty for productive servers.

Define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?.

Define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/shop/'); // absolute path required.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/shop/'); // absolute path required.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/shop/');.

==============.

I do not use the HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN entries yet because it worked fine when we installed the shop last year. And as I already said, it is a version just before the final MS2 release..

I also found out, that I get another Session ID after the page changed to https. I never realized that when we tested the shop some month ago, so maybe some setting on the webserver must have been changed?.

Be sure not to use the latest MS IE 6.0 SP1 update because it has some errors regarding sendig/resendig SSL pages : see this thread.

Thanks but it is not IE related. Same problem with Opera...

You should still set a cookie in the configure.php, you will probably find out it works..

I believe that even though you are not specifying the cookie's domain, some browsers will set the iPage domain name automatically (and some will just leave it blank). I had a similar problem, and found that the session id stored in the cookie was being set to my non-ssl iPage domain name, but because my ssl server was a different iPage domain name (like your set up) the session id stored under the non-ssl iPage domain was not accessible to the ssl domain. So, whenever the user logged in and went straight to the checkout on the ssl server, the session id would be inaccessible and the cart would be empty..

I'm using 2.1 so I just changed my non-ssl iPage domain to be the same as my ssl domain. This was the simplest solution for me. However, I believe 2.2 allows you to set the cookie's iPage domain for both the non-ssl and ssl servers. Check out your application_top file. If it's not in your version, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to grab a copy of the latest version and simply integrate it into your setup..

Thanks to all for the hints. Finally it seemed to work after I added the cookie domains in the configure file..

Now I got another reply from my customers that some users of the shop will still get an empty chart when they do a checkout. Maybe it's related to the IE6 bug but I cannot reproduce the error here (even after I have installed the patch 832894 that should bring up the problem)..

So maybe there ist something else that I should look for?.

Post the top part of your catalog/includes/configure.php - it is most likely cookie related, so don't rule this out yet.
