How much puonds and inches you can lose with the Medifast Diet?

Want the Latest Medifast Coupons Every Month?

Enter your email address below and we'll send you the latest coupon codes to save on Medifast every month. We'll even give a lucky person a month supply of free food.

My 1st question is: How much puonds and inches you can lose with the Medifast Diet? Thanks for any answer or 2. 2nd question I got is.. Since this is "my house" bwhahahahah......

I would like to say this. We make our best effort at being tough but kind..

Now, I personally agree with ALL of the posts of everyone here..

However, our goal is to reach and help the largest number of people we have them "get it" like we did..

Now, I am not saying that the way that has already been approached had not already been in the spirit of this..

But I say let's try as hard as we can to take people "back from the brink" through humor and helpfulness..

Stepping off soapbox.

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you an answer..

Grace, I'd say "good luck on day 1" but I know you don't need that. You know what you need to do and you're determined to do it! Have fun! ;-) 40 pounds will be gone before you know it..

Emily, umm....... sorry, Mom. I'll try to be better next time.... but we had so much darn FUN. *devilish grin* Sorry you missed it. ;-)..

OMG Rachel that's a normal Avvie. Eeek!.

Morning all. Just finished my crunch bar breakfast and coffee. Off and running..

Tonight's lean and green will be chicken taco since I have a busy day. Throw the chicken breasts in the crockpot with a jar of chunky salsa and done...

Only if trying to be better means being even quicker with the come-backs....

Thanks for the entertaining evening, Rachel - all over the innernets!.

And I like the rubber glove pic the best.....

I think I missed all the fun being sick last night.....I'm glad you ladies had a good time..

Sick and all day one down...;}.

Chicken tacos are one of our favorites. I think the boys are going to make chicken salad and soup tonight. Not sure what I am going to do. I think some cottage cheese will feel good on my throat..

Uhhhhhhhh Opening Post, anyone?.

Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstenance from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

Getting the banner:.

1. Copy the following text using your favorite method:.

2. Click on the "Edit Profile/Settings" link at the top of this page.

3. Click on the "Edit Signature" link on the left of the page.

4. Place your cursor in the "Edit Signature" area (looks like a mini version of Microsoft Word) and paste the text you copied using your favorite method.

5. Remove the two asterisks (*) from the text you just pasted.

6. Click "preview signature". You should now see the banner in the Preview area (above where you are editing)!!!.

7. Click the "Save Signature" button. If you do not, all this will have been for naught! So make SURE you save this after you are all set!.

Anyone can start the thread. If youre the first one here in the morning, copy this opening post and create a post for the new day. Anyone is welcome to join, and if folks have additional ideas on how we can commit, we are happy to hear them!..

I need serious "tough love". Last year I lost 35 pounds on Medifast and felt AMAZING!.

Then, like so many other times in the past, a switch went OFF and I ate and ate and ate! Sadly, all the weight was back. :'( and I found myself in a sad and depressed place..

On January 3....I flipped the switch ON and I am BACK and feeling great. I have 9 days under my belt..

Now, the key is for me to find out WHY I have been on this 'roller coaster' with my weight for the past 20+ years. I want to STOP and be healthy for good..

So, don't sugar coat your comments. Tell me like it is..

Grace.....seems like we are in the same place. I just don't have the benefit of being 5'8 (I am jealous). Keep it up. We know it works!!!!..

Good Morning, all! Ready to start a rip-roaring day. We got 3 or 4 inches of snow (according to one website) but there's at least 5 on my patio. I'm starting the day from home til a few more vehicles blaze a trail down my road. I'm out in the country and our road is one of the last to get plowed. Used to be the neighbor farmer would come through with his truck and swipe out at least one lane, but I guess we're all aging....who want's to be out in this? Ohhhh, and I see it's still snowing.

It's warm and cozy in here, though....must be all this hot air flying around <snicker>..

I'm glad someone's awake this morning..

I think all that Tequila left me with a hang-over.....

Good morning all!.

Rachael sure has a lot of personalities. Today's looks pretty "normal" depending on your definition of normal..

I'm with Chris - I like the rubber glove photo the best..

Atlanta has thawed a bit and I hope Chatty will be able to make it out of here today...

Snow day here for us too. We only have a few inches right now but they say we will get quite a bit during the day so my campus is closed. I just wish DH and DS didn't have to venture out in it..

I. Hate. You..

My district is sweet enough to call us the night before to tell us:.

Good Morning!.

Wanted to drop by to say hi before my crazy day starts. Off to a good start again, got to the gym..

Welcome to the new members!.

Will try to drop in later. Have a great OP day!..

"BREAKING: A crack was found in the space shuttle fuel tank. NASA techs noticed the crack after they first saw the tramp stamp above it."..

Only 6 inches here so 2 hour delay and everything's open. We're used to a lot more here...

Morning Kids..

Chris - It's not the tequila, I found you when you were passed out and laid some major smacking up the side of your head!.

Em - Trying to decide if we offended you by blowing off some steam last night or not. Hope not. While we do have to take this program very seriously, we also need to lighten up and have some fun along the way or we'll all lose our minds..

Sexy and Boymom - Welcome. You want tough love, you will definitely get it here. Once you get past the silly, we are the best butt kickers in Medifast Land!.

Rachel - Sorry. Now that we know you better, the sweet and normal pic has been proven a LIE! We saw the true, rubber gloved you last night!.

Lynne - Glad you're feeling better. Forecast for AZ today - Partly cloudy skies with a high of 65 (yes, I'm gloating. I only get to gloat about weather a few months out of the year hehe). I hope Chatty can make it out too, before the Chatty bank goes broke and the Fed has to bail her out..

Penny, Yiayia, Karen, MT, oh heck with it, EVERYBODY I missed, no chopped tofu ever...

Now that the caffeine is kicking in, I'm starting to notice all the hilarious titles. You guys slay me! Missing a very important one though. Tramp, remember....COHORT??!! Bwahahahaha..

<sigh> I actually have work to get done today. I'll check back in a bit. Hope everyone has a great OP day!..

1 liter of water almost done already! Go me...

No water or food in for me yet today, as I'm still in bed. Will consider exiting soon, outlook not positive..

De, I changed my title alreadyit was "De's Pointy Stick." I changed it and the avvie back when it looked like the thread was quieting down, but if it stays busy today I'll fix them again..

L&G today is halibut with broccoli, and then I'll be down to just regular old chicken breasts, tilapia, and MSF Grillers and sausage patties in my freezer. I tell you, it's scary how long I'd had some meat in there. Or maybe it's only scary because I cooked it and ate it anyway....

, welcome to the party. I have already determined that the mere incentive of goofing off with the Tough Lovers will keep me on planbut if you need more, just ask, we'll help you out!..

Hey everyone. Havent made it out of bed quite yet this morning. My workout yesterday has me pretty sore today. We also have a good deal of snow out there so I sorta doubt I can go real far anyway. I hope I can at least make it to the gym! I also will need to make it to the store as I wanted to do tacos tonight and I need a head of lettuce for my shells!..

The work thing is not happening. I have had some serious motivation issues since the first of the year. I'm sure not getting a raise (because of the economy blah, blah, blah) for the 3rd year in a row has something to do with my lack of motivation. Need to just suck it up though..

<deep breath> OK. Back to the paper work..

I'm back home, warm and dry (finally)! Work thing? Not happening for me, either. Treacherous drive actually had me almost crying. I was shaking! I slid off the road and it wasn't fun like those donuts back in the early 1980s!.

I hafta apologize for my "opening post" that was about a dozen posts late. After I posted it and saw all the code left in it (I'd copied it from my Word file that I've since cleaned up), I tried to edit it and the site totally froze. I had to hit the road, so I had to leave it and now I can't fix it..

Tomorrow, if i'm up earlier than the early-rising TRAMP, I'll try again!..

Marilee, be careful about working out today if your muscles are still sore from yesterday. That means the microscopic tears aren't mended yet. A muscle grows when it's resting. You know your body best - just be careful..

I just had a chocolate mint soft serve that was delicious! Of course, I'm not planning on getting really warm in the foreseeable future anyway.....

Had a horrible moment at the grocery store yesterday. Normally, I can walk through all the aisles without even a sideways glance at off-plan foods. Nothing bothers me, nothing seems appealing. Yesterday, out of the corner of my eye, I spied a huge display of Cadbury Creme eggs. We've got like four months to Easter and they're already out? This has always been my binge food. And I mean binge in the classic sense of why eat one when you could eat twenty..

I feel like the cosmos is throwing a huge test at me as I try to lose the last few pounds. Stupid cosmos. Now I feel like I'm going to fight this every feakin day...

Thanks for the warning. But I am not lifting today, just doing cardio. So I will be fine. The muscles I am working aren't sore. Besides this is the routine I have been doing for a few months now. I do cardio 6 days a week and strength training every other day.

Just a little. I was more being a baby and tired...

Ugh, that was a fav of mine too. Hang in there. I always tell myself each time I pass some temptation up or I make it through something that seems challenging, that I am going to be that much stronger the next time! It works! Not that I still dont face temptations, but they are not like they use to be by any means!..

Penny, glad you made it home safe. I am going to venture out in a little while. I am now cooking some oatmeal muffins. I just peeked in the over and noticed they are not rising. Then I realized I forgot the baking soda. I hope they still take good...

Does anyone take issue in the fact that I do not have the banner? I hate banners. I feel like they take up too much space. So, I have sorta been anti them. It is nothing personal to the group, it's just my own neurotic mind...

Marilee, I don't care if you wanna run around bare*ss in here!..

Good, cause I am also not wearing any pants. I have found that the buttock circulation helps me lose more weight in that region...

You could always wear vented panties. Easiest thing is to take your grannie panties outside, load the gun with bird shot and aim for the panties. Boom! Instant vented panties. Works well and helps with those nasty rashes...

Your fun totally didn't offend me, no worries. I just got a PM from someone I like and figured I'd pass along the info. We need to play and some folks are just nutty (and not in the good way like us!!!!).

Stomping foot that I missed all the fun yesterday. Tried to read the "De" thread in it's entirety before posting, but stupid clients and candidates apparently want me to werk. Pfth!.

Welcome new folks and Penny I hope you recover from your Tequila and Cheez Whiz hangover!..

Such brilliant ideas!!! I will have to get a gun so I can do this!..

About to go to a dreaded last minute wedding shower for a co-worker! Good thing I brought my L&G for lunch today! I am filling up on my lunch so that I walk in completely satisfied. Actually I am not worried about craving any of the food they have to offer, it's just all the questions, "why are you not eating?", "don't you want some?", yada, yada, blah, blah..

But you know who the heck cares what they think!!!! This is my life and I don't have to eat that stuff! Okay, just need to vent and get that out of my system. Got my big mug of water and I am ready to rock!..

Your friend needs to untwist her knickers and learn to look at the lighter side of life!.

Seriously. These boards have been getting so serious lately. Look at the number of vies on that thread. They may not be playing but they are DEFINITELY reading!!.

Oh, and it's Tramp NOT penny that is suffering a hangover (which was actually caused my a major smackdown from Yours Truly, she just doesn't remember).

Glad we didn't offend YOU! I was worried there for a minute...

Thanks Kerrigan :-) You're right, I know what I need to's not about luck is it??!! Have a good day yourself!!..

Penny - I just had a sudden fear that we are leading all the newbies astray on the other thread!!!.

OK. It's passed now...

I think they totally get it, De. It's so cheeky and UNserious... good for the soul..

Don't worry even for a second. Oh, I see you didn't.....

Being home today felt good. I got some major things done that I'd been trying to get done, I shoveled some snow and liked it, and I stayed OP! Had it not been for 5+1, I would have eaten a tunnel through my pantry...

Sarah-So many challenges come up we just need to have our Armour on. Once folks get used to us sipping water and not eating they stop asking so much. Just don't even walk near the food. On occassion when someone asks aren't you eating? I just say in a bit...

Hehe. I was going to post on the infamous pretzel thread about promoting non Medifast foods on the boards because the newbies might be confused. Thought it better not to open THAT can of cheez whiz I mean worms! I have NEVER seen people so obsessed over a product that tastes like dirt and is hard as a rock. I was sad when they took away the lemon yogurt maintenance bars, but definitely did not throw repeated tantrums over it! <shaking head>..

Okay ladies, I finally finished sleeping and actually got out of bed! I keep forgetting that sleeping in SO late when MFing is a bad idea. I started with a pancake around 1 p.m., and then I fixed my lean and green because I was still hungry... and because I don't want to still be eating at midnight just to get all my meals in!.

So I started off famished, now I'm picking at the last few pieces of fish and broccoli 'cause I am fullllll....

A little good news in my bank account this morning... my "leftover" student loan money for the semester came through this morning, so now it is mine to spend/save/squander as I please. It's eventually all going to land back in savings, but for right now I'm going to borrow a bit from myself to pay off a couple things... so that when hubby and I go to VEGAS in three days, we'll have some MONEY! to go with us! Wheee!..

Hoo Hoo Rachel!! That's always a treat, isn't it, to find unexpected money in your bank account?..

Have fun Rachel-Imagine the rubber gloves you can buy now..Woohoo..

Workout in. I increased my cardio time to 35 minutes from 30. PArt of me actually wanted to continue after the 35 but I figured I shouldn't push too hard. I then sat in that 190 degree sauna for 30 minutes. I love that thing. It is glorious!!.

Tonight I was invited over to a ladies house for wine. Of course I will not be partaking in the wine. I sorta hate going around people who are drinking as a nondrinker but, like continues so I am trying to deal. I hope the other 2 people who will be there don't get too drunk. That will annoying me. I am trying to get out more.

I don't really have any friends here, it has been real challenging to meet people here. So, when I met this person and actually thought they seems sorta cool I didn't want to pass up the offer to do something, even if it involved drinking. I hope they dont ask too many questions about why I do not drink or eat much...

Afternoon everyone,.

Working from home today. Got about 18 inches of snow so far and it is still snowing. Just sitting in front of the fireplace trying to focus on some work. Hard to do. It looks so pretty outside. Glad I don't have to go out today though!..

WOW! We only got about 6 inches. We have been real lucky this winter, so far at least...

OK a brownie does NOT make as good a pancake as oatmeal does...

Where are you? I miss the sunshine and warmth!!..

Are you kidding me!? Oh, this was completely.

I was actually worrying over it a little bit last night because the money was disbursed on Saturday. I was thinking, oh no, I keyed my account number wrong, they won't deposit it because I changed my name on the account with the bank but not with the financial aid office, oh no, I NEED MY FREE MONEY!! It was already spoken for before it got here!..

Ahhhh.... Gotcha Rachel..

Marilees - I'm in AZ, and if you didn't catch my forecast, it's sunny with a high of 65 today.

Really, even sunshine and warmth 24/7 gets boring. You should have seen the excitement the last week of Dec. when it "kind of" snowed in Scottsdale for 5 minutes!! I really do miss the seasons, and sitting in front of a fireplace looking out on fresh snow...

Oh, and our Vegas show tickets just got here from UPS, too! (I didn't know it was coming by UPS, so I answered the door in my Texas Rangers jammies.) So far our lineup consists of: Mac King Comedy and Magic Show, Drew Carey's Improv-A-Ganza (GSN is filming for a new improv showcast features just about everyone who's ever been on the US version of Whose Line), The Lion King, Madame Toussad's, and Blue Man Group. Wheee!..

So true....determination and grit. I'm finding I just want to reach for particular reason. Just need to hang tough until ketosis kicks in. but getting through day one...

You'll make it. Reaching for food is such a habitI know I do it when I'm just bored, and a lot of other overeaters/overweight people do, too. What are you up to today? Is there anything else you could be doing to keep your hands busy?..

Hi Lisa-We got about 10 inches so far....I love fresh snow...So pretty..

Grace - Something that I did while on 5&1 and still do is veggies. I have a mandolin (slicer) and I take entire heads of celery, wash them and slice them up really thin on my mandolin (Hey! I made a rhyme! <snicker>) Keep them in a bowl of water in the fridge and when I need to reach for something, that's what I go for. I do the same with cucumbers. Munching on really low cal/carb veggies is filling, and can take some of the pressure off of getting in that huge l&g. They are easy to measure and I find that I really like munching on them in the evenings when watching TV (you know, when I used to be munching on crackers, chips or other snack foods). Celery is an acceptable snack so a little extra on really hungry days is not going to hurt you one bit.

And when all else fails and you find yourself reaching or craving, get your but over here so we can knock those evil thoughts right out of your head! In the nicest, most loving way of course...

I keep a big bowl of cucumbers in vinegar in the fridge. I don't count the vinegar since I shake the cukes off before eating them. But it really curbs the cravings...

Lynne - I just love my mandolin! I usually spend about 30 minutes on Saturday after grocery shopping slicing up all kinds of veggies for the week. When I want a salad, all I have to do is grab handfuls of different veggies and it's quick and easy. Now, I've also tried to cut off most of my fingers, but then I'm a clutz and this is to be expected..

Lesson number one when owning a mandolin - Keep butterflies and bottles of liquid bandage on hand at ALL times!..

We do the same thing De. Our kids are actually huge veggie eaters so if I keep broccoli and peppers, etc cut up in the fridge, they munch on them too. Don't you have a hand guard to use while slicing your veggies? It has saved my extremities more than once. I love being able to just grab the veggies to make my soups, etc too. Well worth the prep time..

Damn! You mean I'm actually supposed to use the hand guard? LOL..

I kind of love my fingers so ummmm yeah..

Whatever, why do you think you have ten of 'em!?..

Afternoon ladies! Just popping in for a quick minute. I'm so ready for this day to be over..

I wish I had some celery right now. I've been feeling extra hungry today. I will have to eat some as soon as I get home to take the edge off. It sounds really good right now..

Hang in there chickie! Have a diet soda. Maybe that will tide you over until you get home...

Oh, good idea De! I have a sprite zero in the fridge. That should totally help me...

See. I do have some good idea from time to time! hehe..

Hi all,.

I wanted to join this group because you guys are freakin halarious. Do I need to post in another thread somewhere or just keep an eye out for the new one everyday?.

Audrey - Just keep your eye out every morning for the new daily thread..

Welcome aboard...

You've probably already sailed through this and folks have given you lots of good advice, but couldn't resist adding my 2 thoughts..

I used to worry about events, but mostly nobody really pays attention to what.

Eating. Even last Thanksgiving when all I had was salad (which I brought and NOBODY else ate) and turkey, not a word. When they tried offering dessert, I did like Lynne "Maybe later - I'm still full"...

Happy Wednesday all. On plan: Check. Exercise: As soon as I post. Dinner: my on plan chili: one pack of ground turkey (or Boca but watch carbs if you are on plan), one can of chipotle tomato, dash of Mrs. Dash Fiesta Lime. Comfort food.

I eat a lot of this stuff. In maintenance, I do add some more veggies to it, but the calories are low, the chili is warm and it keeps me thin and healthy. Oh yeah!.

I think the syringe picture is still scaring me. Ive actually had nurses with that look. The rubber glove did make me laugh though..

, I had to go in today to, although we did have a 2 hour delay. I got all my labs corrected, which means I dont need to do them tonight. Took me longer to get home tonight. Lots of roads blown shut. Delay tomorrow? I am hoping. I have some projects to grade..

, send some of that 65 degree weather to the northeast please..

, glad you got home ok..

, I can only hope for you what happened to me. They are just way too sweet for me anymore. I took one bite when I was in maintenance and spit it right back out. Another thank you MF!.

! You are right. Doesnt matter what they think..

, stay warm. We only got about 6 inches. Just enough to look nice..

, one thing I did when I was on 5+1 is make a list of 10 minute chores, clean a drawer, wash 3 windows, wash the inside of trash cans..things that I didnt do often, but needed to be done. I hung the list on my refrigerator door and pantry door. When I went shopping for food at a time when it wasnt time for an Medifast meal or my lean and green I forced myself to do one of the chores. It did a great job of redirecting me. I still use this today. The first few weeks of being on 5+1 I did a lot of chores.

Nothing like brainwashing..

, I agree. Nobody ever notices, particularly what is in my glass. I just make sure Im the host or that Im pouring. Works for me...

Word Jan!.

I get so frustrated with people who would rather go off plan then have someone comment on what they eat or drink. 99% of the time, people are so focused on themselves or the conversation, no one notices if you have alcohol in your glass or fattening food on your plate..

I've learned that 2 words work wonders and don't require explanation of any kind..

No Thanks.

Welcome Audrey!!!.

One trick I'd like to add here is that I love chopped salads. Well, now I've found new use for my pizza cutter. I put all of my salad fixings in a batter bowl and use the pizza cutter to chop it all up..

Work is driving me nuts today. Dinner with my friend tonight. Thinking Italian, salmon with steamed green beans. Yummmmmm.....

Oh, and I apologize in advance for using the words "pizza" and "batter" in my post..

I survived the shower! Thanks for all the encouragement!.

No problem resisting the food. Got a few whiney comments like "why don't you want to eat ___?" Really?!?! Why does it matter to YOU whether I eat it or not? It's not like it was homemade and I am offending your culinary skills!!!.

Okay, thanks, I am done venting, AGAIN!..

LOL Em. Yeah you should keep that nasty talk to MY thread!.

Have you ever used an Ulu? Very awesome sharp object! Brought one home from Alaska. I use it for chopping herbs and garlic etc...

, I may have to try that with my you know what cutter. I saw them do it at a salad fast food place at the mall over Christmas. Thought it would be much faster..

Great job.

Made it home. Thought I would pop in before dinner. Hope everyone got in their meals today.

I did! WOOT! Still have an evening snack, but other than that I am 4 for 4. Haven't had dinner yet, but I'm on my way. bbl...

See? You just needed your "cohort, minions, needler, snarker" etc. to keep you on track!..

I found some bison in the freezer that I'd made in the crockpot with low sodium taco seasoning a while back... thawed some out and had it on top of some romaine with a few sprinkles of pickle juice for dinner. Mmmm-MMM! Tomorrow will likely be dinner out, but I've learned to do so much with so little for so long, I can do anything with nothing!..

Thanks for the welcome =D Does anyone know why your supposed to use aluminum free baking powder when adding to say cc pancakes? My baking powder has aluminum carbinate in it. Will it make my micro spark or something?.

Great advice Barb re the list of chores, thanks a bunch. I will definitely be doing that...

Yep. Can't disagree with that..

Chicken ceasar salad. yum..

Greetings friends!.

Had salmon and steamed green beans and they were SUPER yummy at dinner. Only tough part for me is portions, but I tried to use the "palm of the hand rule"..

PS - you guys are REALLY funny!!!..

Good evening everyone!.

Just stopping in real quick killing a few minutes while I wait to finally get off work. I have NOT had dinner or my last Medifast meal today! Argggg! I am hungry and don't even know when it will end..

I was curious just how many calories I have had today, seeing as how I feel like crap right now....454!!! not enough..

I knew better, I should have planned better and had more meals ready. Live and learn!.

Have a good evening everyone!..
