My webhosting cpanel does not allow me to install at the top most level. Redirects does not seem to work either. Can I to copy everything from to

Sure you can move it, but you will have to edit the 2 configure.php files to recognize the new url and path..

You should also double-check that your host has the more recent MS2.2 version..

You could also download it from here and install it manually. It's not too difficult..

Put this in your .htaccess file....

DirectoryIndex index.html index.htm index.php /cart/index.php.

You want to put this at the bottom of the file under everything else. Of course the /cart/ will be replaced by whatever the name of your cart is...

Thks to cyanide and vince for the solutions..

If I do a manual copy of the files from /oscommerce to the top level, what are the things I should take note? eg .htaccess? file permissions? db?.

I'm afraid that redirects may cause problems in future like broken links as nik said...

How long has your iPage site been live? If you are getting hits from search engines, then yes there will be pages that return a 404..

But, if this is a new install, then you won't have to worry about that..

Really, the only thing you need to do is modify the urls in both configure.php files..

All you need to worry about is the configure folders. Everything else wont change as your moving it from it's current location..

Instead of installing it at, install the whole package a level higher - i.e. If you do this early on in your iPage site development then you will be OK, do it later and you will have loads of broken links coming to your iPage site and problems with contributions as your url will have changed......good luck!..
