I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can help you..
I get gator everywehre. I dont know what it is so I opt out everysingle time.
As a matter of fact, does anyone know what it is?..
That is a thread on this forum about gator. If that doesn't work you can go to the "legal issues" part of this forum and it is located near the top. If you are getting these unwanted advertisements on your local computer chances are that they are not being downloaded to everyone else that views your site. I have a really good program called SpyBot Search and Destroy on my computer. It removes all this "spyware" that Gator and other companies force on you. (They will say that you agreed to download their junk but who reads every single line of all those license agreements.) The SpyBot software is free and I think(don't quote me on this) it is the best out there, at least to be free, to rid your computer of spyware.
The first time I ran SpyBot I couldn't believe all the stuff it found. If you try a spyware removal software and it doesn't help I wouldn't know what you could do. Hope this helps...
Gator is going all the way down the drain!..
I didn't get any popups, even with my popup blocker off..
I agree with Derek about AdAware. I run it on a regular basis just to be safe. You never know what kind of crap is on your harddrive, spying on you and bombarding you with ads...
Yea but ounce when I used adaware, I hit the button to take all of it away after scan, and my kazaa stopped working, along with a bunchof programs. For instance, ever since doing that, I can nolonger go into chats on AIM..
The reason why your kazaa stopped working is because it has a couple of spyware programs built into it, I would recommend WinMX as I think that it is spyware free.
Alot of chat rooms will install Java applets before you can chat in them, they will run ads maybe in the chat room or they might install software that monitors your online activity..
Have a read through.
Has loads of info..
I use adaware, I have spyblocker, I also run software called Portscanner and The Cleaner from Moosoft I also use the Zone Alarm as my firewall, if you do a search on Google you will find most if not all of the software I have listed..
Thanx. All I did was reinstall Kazaa. I think I will stick with kazaa..
But if I see anything unusual in the startup, Ill take it off...
