Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to.

:1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstinence from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

8. Be honest with ourselves and our Medifast family and to stay 100% OP at all times. We also swear that WHEN (not if) we are having a tough time and feel like we may eat SLUDGE, to come to our Medifast family first and ask for support and help to get us through the struggle..

1. Copy the following text using your favorite method:.

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could assist you..

Morning thanks for the coffee K!.

I wish I had an answer for you but I don't. I think that Nutrition Support says to get your 5&1 in in 24 hours (I've seen shift workers ask a similar question). Hopefully someone more knowledgable will come along and give you advice..

I am having a 4&2 day today, b/c I'm meeting a friend for lunch. I also am doing Day 1 of P90X this am after I get my kids to school. I bought my plane tickets yesterday and just need to get to the doctor to get some Xanax so I can fly. (I'm married to a pilot and hate flyingsuch fun).

K - thanks for the coffee. I too have no advice for you. I'm still in only my 12th week so consider myself quite the newbie. My advice would be to go straight to your doctor about the insomnia, perhaps even someone who specializes in women's health and/or sleep disorders. As to the food, I agree with Anna..

Anna - good luck on the P90X. Wow! You're going to be amazing (not that you aren't already!). So do you think you'll stay on 4&2 for awhile? Seems like P90X is pretty demanding. Plane ticket in hand - Woo Hoo!!.

I'm happy to report that the scale was down to 230.2 this morning from my standard 231.4 all week. I was pleased to see movement, but feel like a man in the desert within inches of the oasis. Oh please oh please oh please let me see the 220's tomorrow on my official weigh-in day. If only I could will it so..

I am going to do another "all shake" day with the diabetic shakes and hope for the best..

K - I've suffered from insomnia for more years and years. Like you, sleeping pills just don't work. I wish I had some advice for you. I do find when I take a shower before bed, I sleep much better. It's worth a try. I hope it gets better for you soon!.

Anna - I don't like flying either. Yuck! I'd rather drive across the country then fly..

My news: I'm down 3 pounds this week, 15 for the month. I'm thrilled as you can imagine. So I go to get dressed, and pull out the "tight" (didn't fit last week) 18s - um, yeah, too big. Never even got to wear them!!!! I pull out an old pair of 16s - YEP! Fit. Tight, but they're on and I wore 'em to work. I can see Onderland now - off in the distance - I swear the grass IS greener there - and I've heard the consignment stores are FABULOUS - oh yes, I'm saving some $$$ for shopping in Onderland!.

I have to fly but I can't take 15 days away from home to drive then do what I need to do then drive home again. I hate it but I just do it b/c I have to since we live so far from everyone..

, I'm sorry that you aren't sleeping. My DH has had that problem in the past and it is just miserable. He's actually taking a medication used for seizures now (the doc is treating for mild restless leg syndrome) and it's making a big difference. First time ever, though...nothing else has worked, including all the typical drugs and a CPAP (wrong diagnosis). I don't know if this is helpful to you, but I thought I'd throw it out there. As far as the food goes, I don't have any great advice but to say that I agree with Anna.

Way to go! That's a great loss for a month!.

Weird day yesterday...lots of ups with a few downs thrown in. Had to tell DD that her school (she is my one kiddo not homeschooling) needs her to stay in the 5th grade next year (she's been in a combo 4th-5th class and expected to move to 6th grade). She was devastated but still wants to stay at the school. Truthfully, for this kid, the school is meeting her needs better than I can right now and I agree with their plan for her. She needs some special therapy for working memory issues before we move her forward. Poor baby!.

Ups were more fun...I got "checked out" (wedding ring and all!) at the whole foods store...that hasn't happened in a while. It freaked me out! DH told me congrats...funny guy! Then, later in the day a funny little NSV: my pants slid off in a parking lot! I caught them at hips level, so I wasn't mortified! These are the pants that were too tight on me at Christmas time, so I'm tickled. I really enjoyed my little trip out sans kiddos. Went to my fav little boutique shop (the kind you'd never enter with kiddos!) and bought myself some new earrings, some homemade soaps and yummy smelling hand lotion, and successfully avoided my favorite pieces of sludge that were prominently displayed! Did have a moment of weakness where I considered them, but then I turned around and saw a display of homemade, gourmet pickles and had to laugh at myself. Nice little reminder that my little "snack" wasn't a snack at all but SLUDGE that would keep me from reaching goal..

DH is off to Atlanta for a couple of days and DS9 is sick. We'll be pretty much in the house as a result (normally we're quite on the go, even with home school!) so I'll stop in to say hi as much as I can...

So I was able to stay up longer than expected- it's kinda weird, once I get all of my meals in I no longer think about food and can just go with it- it seems I am hungrier when I have a few Medifast meals left- so I was done eating by 5 yesterday finished making DD sludge for her BD and I was fine- she opened gifts and I watched both DDs eat- no biggie-THANK GOODNESS!!!! It also helps that DD#1 is trying the gluten free diet to ward off tummy aches she has had for YEARS! it's been a week and it is working. I have always thought she had celiac- although every time we went to the DR they x-rayed her and gave her fiber pills, so I think I will call for the simple blood test to make sure all of this avoidance is for a reason. DD#2 is also doing it but never really suffered the tummy aches DD#1 has...enough rambling for me off to work-.

I don't have much to update. I mentioned in my blog that my Dad paid for me to have Sirius radio in my car for a year and today was my first drive in with it. Well, I sang the entire way to work, and my mood is much improved for having a fun drive in..

Sorry if I missed anyone, the whole world always seems to need me at work so I'm always scattered. Hope everyone has a nice Wednesday...

, I totally think you should go talk to your doctor about the insomnia and women's issues. What you are going through sounds so terrible and I am not sure any of us here are qualified to advise you on that..

I would also ask Nutritional Support about sticking to the plan while your hours are so skewed and see what they advise..

Jennifer - Getting checked out is a fun bonus. The first time it happened to me my DH was standing there and said "did you see that guy looking you up and down? He was checking you out". I said, no he wasn't. My DH said yes he was. He was happy for me. LOL.

Good morning Bobbie, Steph, Anony, Melissa, Olive and Cindy and anyone else I missed..

I realized this morning that I never changed my water intake. When I started Medifast I was 247 lbs and drank 120 oz of water a day. Now I'm nearing 160 and still drinking over 100 oz a day. Guess I can dial it down a notch to about 80 oz a day... lol. Less peeing that way...

K - thanks for the Kona blend! Things I've done since I normally sleep very little (4 hours is a good night for me)..

- I split my L&G into two meals so I can stretch my food to fit my longer day but still stay OP and not hungry.

- Interestingly enough a hot water bottle at my feet after a hot bath will generally put me out...

Wow, I'm already too far behind to say hello to everyone individually because I bet I would leave somebody out. So, hello to everyone!.

Anna-My absolute worst fear is flying. I can't tell you how much I hate it. I've had panic attacks (it might have actually been a psychotic break according to my psychiatrist!!!.

), thought I was going to die, and have cried hysterically on planes to the point that I have scared everyone around me. The time before last that I flew, I wrote up a will (actually just a letter that was notarized, not sure if it would stand up in court or not) stating that my mother would have our children because I honestly was almost convinced that I would die. But last time that I flew, my psychiatrist prescribed me klonopin, and it was a MIRACLE. She prescribed it "as needed," so I probably took too much lol, but it worked wonders! Good luck with your xanax!..

Good morning, Tough Lovelies!.

K, thanks for the Kona! One of my favorites! Sorry youre going through such a tough time. I suffered with insomnia a few years ago and was prescribed Ambien. When that stopped working, I found lots of ideas online: white noise machine, a regular routine before bed (shower, lotion, brush teeth, yoga, meditation, etc.), no TV, internet or reading just before bed (keep the mind quiet), chamomile or peppermint tea sometimes some of these things worked; sometimes they didnt. Then I left the stressful job I was in and many problems, including the restlessness improved. Now, if I need it, I take a store-brand OTC sleep aid. Some people use Melatonin or Valerian root.

And definitely talk to your doctor. It could be something with a simple fix..

I made some more post earrings last night with some beautiful colored agate beads I found. Some are wrapped in copper, some are wrapped in gold plated wire and some are silver plated. The different metals with the different colored beads made for some beautiful color combinations! I will have them listed this weekend. There is a fundraiser coming up next month for a local pet rescue and Im reaching out to them about donating something for them to raffle off. Tomorrow is my girlies Family Fun Night that Im sort of obligated to attend. I thought it was Friday.

Those things are usually fun at her school..

Another blazer that was too small is looking quite spiffy on me today! I like a blazer with a pair of casual pants and a tank top. Easy peasy and comfy. Im all rockin the Navy blue and gold today!.

Morning Peeps..

Well, my legs are better this morning, but now my abs are sore. Oh well. It's a good pain. My plan for the day is to end my night with some Abs Yoga and make my abs hurt even more..

K - Even I don't know what to tell you to do. I think getting in to see your doctor is your best bet. Cut out any caffeine you may be taking in after noon, and stay far away from the calorie burn infusers if you have them. Somehow you have to figure out a way to eat approximately every 2-3 hours, regardless of when you sleep. If you fall asleep earlier, then pick up where you left off when you wake up. You need to make sure that you get all your meals in during each 24-hour period.

But I really do think it's critical that you get in to your Dr. and see if there is anything that they can do for you to give you some relief. Hang in there hon..

Oh Penny, I can't wait for the post earrings - I am much more apt to wear posts than hanging! Looking forward to seeing them!!!! and great NSV on the jacket. I have a Lands End down vest that never fit me across the 38Gs... now it's loose!!!! What an amazing feeling. I knew losing weight would be nice, but I'd forgotten.

What exercise did you do, De?.

I am so excited. I just placed an Medifast order full of goodies. As I mentioned before, I've been eating a lot of what I got for free from a friend and it is not stuff I particularly like. Not turning away free Medifast food, though! It will be nice to intersperse the freebies with stuff I really like. I am trying the maintenance bars for the first time ever for the days I work out...

Kris, I have one packet of mango that I got for free in one of my orders. I keep thinking I should just try, but have not been particularly motivated to try it!.

I like mixing the chocolate mint soft serve in a blender with hot coffee. I got the coffee soft serve to try that, too...

Good morning Tlers! I hope you are all having a good start to your day. I'm sitting on the couch waking up to coffee and looking outside at the beautiful blue sky. We Portlanders don't get a lot of blue sky this time of year so I'll take it! Hopefully it'll hold up long enough to go on a bike ride this morning..

So my date last night was ok. I'll go out with him again but I don't think he's Mr. Right. He interrupted me a lot and that's a HUGE pet peeve of mine. He would interrupt me to ask me questions about what I was saying, but still... As long as a guy doesn't creep me out I'll give him a 2nd date though, because I know 1st date jitters can make people buggy.

Not So Rights as being practice dates after nearly a decade away from dating..

Going shopping with my sis tonight for more date clothes. Yay!..

Melissa, I too was so affected by National Velvet. I really think that movie changed my life. I ended up getting my first horse in 8th grade. We rode at Mr. Browns stable in Sorrento Valley. He picked us up in his pickup truck on Wednesday after school and on weekends.

I sold avocados on the corner to help pay for it..

I ended up going to England for a year after High School to obtain my teaching cert and showed in hunter/jumper and Dressage for years after. All thanks to Liz and the fact I imagined being her..

Everyone else..yummy coffee and I can so relate to being a bad sleeper. I've been touchy about sleep all my life. More the go to sleep at 11 and then up at 2am and sometimes that's it for the night. yuck..

Sassy, it's fun to read about your dating adventures. I met the guy who I have been dating for 4 years or so now (we're more friends than in love people) on Match. Toying with the idea of trying it again to find Mr. Right, but we'll see. Mr. Interrupting guy may have read somewhere women love it when you show interest in what they are saying. He may just not know how to do it right...

Hi everyone! I posted originally on Monday to say "Hi" and that I was coming on plan 100%. It is now Wednesday, and I have absolutely done it. Only a couple days in, but I'm feeling really wonderful. I realize it takes constant effort to keep my head in the game, but when I fall down is when my head slips away from where it needs to be!.

K- I go through similar sleep spells, but mine never last more than a couple weeks. So sorry!.

Jennifer-I'm sure the school progress is a disappointment for your daughter, but she'll feel so much better when she does move forward, more prepared and confident..

Penny-Congrats on slipping into those "too tight before" clothes..

Sassy-Sounds like you know what you're looking for in a guy. Good for you!.

Dear K: thius is a wonderful group and we support you, as you have felt today..

No more coffee or soda with caffaeine for you right now..

Your body is making a huge adjustment, so get all the professional help you can. I.

I take tons of stuff in order to sleep, have for years due to early menopause and illnesses..

I love melatonin, Prometrium (natural progesterone, not synthetic), GABA, benedryl, etc..

I hope you get some releif soon..

I am blown away by Elizabeth Taylor's death. When I was a freshman in HS, all the girls in my class (80-90) wore Cleopatra eye make-up to publicizde our frosh sponsed dance. What a hoot to remember and picture now. All those 14 year old girls with heavy make-up!.

Chatty - so happy about the 29 weeks! I'm keeping you and yours in my thoughts..

Bobbie - if you're using a regular blender (not a shaker cup) you don't need to blend first and then add soda. You can just use the soda instead of the water for the shake. And you can make a "shake" out of shakes, pudding, brownies, or soft serve..

Sassy - sounds like you've got a great attitude about the dating! Have all the adventures you can, girl! I always relish the really REALLY bad dates, because they make the best stories..

Chopped tofu is "shout-outs" to individual people. It's a riff on "what am I, chopped liver?" created by a vegetarian (Rogue? I think) a while back. "No chopped tofu" means "I love you all I just don't have time/stamina to mention everyone individually."..

Good morning Everyone!.

So glad to be here this morning. Its been crazy the last couple of days. DH and I had our nephews over for a few days. It was wonderful, then one of them got really sick and we had to rush them into town (a two hour drive). Its was intense, but he is ok now..

Anyway, today is weigh-in and I have hit 199.4. I am hesitant to call it official, but by the end of the week I am sure I'll be solidly in the 100's. Yeah! That's 19.4 pounds in one month. I'm yet to drop clothing sizes, but I feel like it's coming soon. I guess it just proves how tight my clothes were to start off with...

Hello my dear TL friends!.

Well, life at my house has once again entered the 21st Century...and we have indoor plumbing! <Woot! Woot!> The chamber pot has been banished!.

Now, I must get the basement restored to perfection...and that's going to take a bit of work. The homeowner's insurance is paying for replacement of carpet in all the effected rooms. (Since only the media room and the hallway were not damaged, DH and I have decided to go ahead and replace that carpet too.).

Now I have to essentially EMPTY my basement before re-carpet time! Yes...I believe that I will be experiencing that "muscle soreness" De and Freya have been talking about. It's going to be a workout!.

But I am so so so so happy I can use my plumbing again. SO happy. It's hard to drink so much water when you have no toilet to use!.

Cheri: speaking of water drinking....I still drink the same amount of water that I did when I began. I guess I'm just used to it now...and also I like the way it hydrates my skin..

Melissa! I'm so happy for your good weigh-in this week! Congrats..

K: I really can't add anything to what has already been said, except to lend you my sympathies as well..

Hi.

I was wondering if you read the side of a 7oz can of tuna it says 2oz drained does this mean I have to eat 3 1/2 cans to get my proper portion of 7oz?.

She was looking at the "serving size" which is 2 ounces, drained. A typical can of tuna will have between 3.5 and 5 ounces of tuna when drained, depending on the quality of the tuna...

Knitty, yes, they do say that on the can. It really does take 2.5 of the smaller cans to come up with 7 oz of tuna because so much is water. Bleh..way too much tuna for me...

Good morning!.

Weigh-in day for me! Down another 3.2! Woohoo! This puts me down 20.4 in 5 weeks. Yippee!.

All the talk about shopping lately made me go shopping in my closet. I have about 25 pairs of pants and capris. Before MF, only about 7 pairs fit. Now I'm happy to report that 2 are too big, 10 fit great, a few I'll be able to wear in about 10 lbs, and a couple are still about 15 lbs out. Yay for "new" clothing choices!.

No chopped tofu... Everyone have a great day!..

Good afternoon everyone! Lunch at work so I have a little downtime and could catch up on the thread..

As for the serving size with tuna, I have a can of chicken breast in front in front of me that says "serviing size 2oz drained, servings per can 2" sooooo it's really 4 oz drained. But this is chicken, not tuna, but still a warning to watch servings per can..

Nothing else here. Waiting for the rest of the snow that may bury us in 12 inches or spare with just 3 more..

The difference being??.

Tara - I do not ever go off of what the can tells me. I drain my tuna and then weigh it. It can vary from can to can and brands, and what is printed on the label is just an estimate...

Sassy, I'm still a big fat fattie on the inside! Just ask me - all 101 pounds are lurking in here, straining at the seams, just waiting for a moment's inattention to come flying back out!!!.

I think perhaps one of my favorite things about T&M is being able to eat just 1 can of tuna. It's a much more reasonable serving size...

De, Lucky duck liking tuna. I actually don't mind a good tuna (not allowed to say what I used to like doing with it) occasionally, but not my protein of choice that's for sure. Of course, you don't like beans..so..you know...
