My question is I am an artist, can I advertise my work on a personal iPage website? Hoping for any comment. Second question of mine... Hi everyone, this is first time I am trying to install osCommerce. When I start the installation in the requirements check list, I have all green except cURL and OpenSSL. I don't know too much about this but from quick research I've done I understand that cURL parses information and OpenSSL has something to do with secure socket layer, providing encryption....

So my question is what exactly is cURL for, what role does it play in osCommerce? What about OpenSSL? How important is each? Are they critical or osCommerce can work fine without one or both of the extensions?.

If you say they are not as important, can I install osCommerce without them for now then add them later, or that would be a problem, and will it require re-installing osCommerce or not?.

I looked on OpenSSL iPage site but it is a bit confusing, does anyone know any good resource with information about installing this? As far as cURL I am trying to set it up and it doesnt seem too confusing I think I will be able to install it..

Anyway just trying to learn about this and decide if I should install osCommerce now or get these things installed first..

Thanks in advance and hope to get some answers soon...

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I bump into an anything. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..

I don't know, but looking at the "readme" file that came with the download of OpenSSL, and it is confusing, do I actually have to compile this? Or I can just set this up somehow? Also I would really like to avoid executable installations and do manual installation... Can someone explain this to me?..

Also I have SSL, just not OpenSSL, can I use that instead..
