Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I discover an useful answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could help you..
I actually didn't get any of this.
I mean I installed oscommerce now what I want to do is see the login for admin and replace the default template and use one of my own so, to begin with, make me these points clear and plz don't ask me to buy stuffs cause I don't have that kind of money to spent and I would after I get the hang of oscommerce...
Jared gave you the information you requested already..
He only suggested the OSC book in case you needed extensive help..
To clarify, if you did a standard OSC install your store will be at www.yourdomain.com/catalog and your admin will be at www.yourdomain.com/catalog/admin..
There is plenty of information available regarding osCommerce, both paid and free. You have to be willing to go get it. Read the knowledgebase. Read the setup guide(s) that have been posted in the add-ons section. Read the tips-n-tricks section..
Thanx chris that answers my first question which is how am I suppose to login to admin panel but how am I suppose to replace the default store template given with one of my own?.
Even if I know the location I just can't delete those files and copy my own, right?..
Follow the directions that came with the template. If you are trying to create your OWN templace, just judging by your initial questions, I wouldn't suggest that untl you become more experieced..
So chris as I was saying, there are no directions within the oscommerce directory and trying to change the template is one of the main work that I have to do and I have to master this so plz help me..
No what he is saying is the answer is in the original answer, forgetting that STS means nothing to someone not familiar with osc. STS is Simple Templating System. Look in the contributions for more info..
My advice is read the documentation that comes with the download of your version of osc or if it is not there download a copy from this iPage site and read that.
Then read the knowledgebase or download a copy once again from this site.
A roadmap for newbies by lindsayanng gives a good overview..
Also read the first 2 threads in the installation forum, they cover how to do loads of basic things..
Try these 3 threads as well.
Finally use the search term.
In google whenever you get stuck..
When you start to get more technical.
To get to a iPage site on your pc providing the web service is running use the address.
Followed by the directory name the iPage site is in.
Then for admin pages add.
That seems promising, i'll be sure to check them out and then post any confusion i'll have and I hope you 'll be there to help me out again...
Okay right to the point, I could install oscommerce successfully and created everything , my questions are:.
1.how do I login everytime?.
2.how can I have my own templates to replace the template of oscommerce?.
By the way, I don't have a web hosting, i'm using my own pc as that using WAMP5.
Help me what I should do..
2) STS. Better option is to purchase the designing oscommerce ebook at oscbooks.com..
3) Is your home server up all the time? Think power surges, power outages, kids turning off computers, hardware needing to be upgraded, etc? If not, then get web hosting. It's worth it..
