First of all I have a iPage domain with hosting and designed my website on wix.com?!?!? Hoping for any answer. Second question of mine... Hi, I've been using osC for a month now and love it a lot..

I had been using Dreamweaver MX to be able to "live edit" my iPage site by setting the database connector in Dreamweaver so the PHP code could render when I clicked "live edit"..

It was the absolute greatest way to edit my pages since I was already very familiar with Dreamweaver..

However, starting last week, I can no longer connect to my database. My iPage site is working fine since it obviously still has all my products and users are able to navigate and purchase..

Are there any Dreamweaver gurus here that could give me a few pointers?.

I can't ping the ip address of the host where the mySQL database resides and a tracert times out before getting there as well..

This worked fine for over a month and my host swears nothing changed (yeah right, godaddy by the way...).

Thanks for any help..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can help you..

Under the "window" option at the top of dreamweaver, there is a databases setup. You have to configure that part for it to work, have a testing server, a remote server and a local server...

What is your error?.

I use live edit myself...

"Could not connect to database"..

Well, DUH, it's because if you can't ping it by IP address then you can't get to it..

I have tried entering both the IP address and the NAME and neither one will get resolved on my network. I have also tried from the office and had friends try and ping the same IP. No go. I was just wondering if there was another way of connecting to a database in Dreamweaver besides name or IP. If I could enter the full URL I know that would work, or at least I think it would, but I don't see that that is an option within Dreamweaver..

Since I can get to my database with phpmyAdmin (thru a secure https site) I know it has to be doable, just don't see how within Dreamweaver..

Thanks for any help...

Hi,.

I also use dreamweaver a lot and was curious as to how this worked. Were you able to edit your checkout pages? By live edit, did you do it right on the server while the page was loaded or? I tried to view the page in dreamweaver's design view but all I saw was the table with anchors..

I would love to be able to edit in dreamweaver as it is much more visual..

Thanks..
