My first question is I have multiple questions on domain registration and iPage web hosting? Thanks for any response. My 2nd question... Hi all.

First off - amazing software! Kudo's to all the oscommerce developers for creating such awesome software!.

Now the main problem was I couldnt get the thing to work without doing a search `n replace for require(' to require('./.

There were also a few other things that I had to do, but the core problem was it was referencing files incorrectly (or incorrectly from an IIS standpoint in any case) ie "includes/blah.php" where as it should have been "./includes/blah.php"..

I tried *everything*, spent an hour reading on the forums and nothing - no explanation as to why this is..

Now before some smart allec posts telling me "no files should have to be modified" please be so kind as to provide a reason or what setting must be enabled for these to work..

Its definitely no config error as these values are hard coded into the php files..

Is there some setting I missed in IIS or something?..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could answer your iPage question..

Hi Mibble, thanks for the reply..

"Its definitely no config error as these values are hard coded into the php files.".

As I said above, it cannot be a value that is incorrect in the configure.php files as these are hardcoded and have NOTHING to do with the configure.php files..

IE:.

In application_top.php:.

Require('includes/configure.php');.

Whereas to get it to work I had to alter it to:.

Require('./includes/configure.php');.

If anything it is some setting in IIS or the php.ini that needs to be enabled, or something....

I am a hobby php developer myself and I am 100% sure that the way that it is referencing the require/include files in the scripts DOES NOT work in IIS/php on windows by default...

And I did try searching I read various posts that referenced to this mildly but I couldnt find anything tangible...

Anyone going to argue otherwise or can we safely say that oscommerce does not work on IIS6 by deafult, if so I really suggest putting that somewhere in the readme/site..

Ill argue I am totally new to Internet and this shop and it does work..

You will find that you have either set the virtual directory up incorrect in IIS or the configure.php files in admin or catalog are incorect..

I know this as I have played around with moving the admin folder and renaming it..

When I did this I had a config setting wrong and when you hover over the link the path displayed at the bottom of the browser was incorrect..

I will say I found this difficult to muddle through too and I am on my second day........... enjoy.........

Hi Swift,.

Appreciated - thanks for your reply, however are you using IIS? I am not argueing that the cart doesnt work (obvioulsy it works I mean there are tons of ppl using it duh!) I am arguing that IT DOES NOT WORK FOR IIS 6 unless files are modified..

Did you even read my earlier posts.....

Sorry not *just* that files have to be edited a ppossible alternative could be that some (unknown to me) settings or configs need to enabled in IIS / php - I would really love to know what these are if anyone cares to share...

I apologise the server I have it running on is IIS 5..

I recall finding it dificult to get php working on IIS 5.0 although I set this up a few months ago..

I only just finished installing oscommerce and I have some problems which I am having trouble getting a reply..

I have not read any other posts sorry..

I still think it is to do with settings in IIS as the ./ normally is to do with absolute paths..

As I said I moved folders around and had a server setting incorrect in the configure.php files and this gave me some strange path results in the browser.....

I am new to PHP and web development my forte is Database Analysis and Design and Admin...

One other thought have you checked your php.ini.

Include_path = ".;c:\php\pear".

Here is part of mine for paths.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;.

; Paths and Directories ;.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;.

; UNIX: "/path1:/path2".

;include_path = ".:/php/includes".

;.

; Windows: "\path1;\path2".

Include_path = ".;c:\php\pear"..

There are many posts on iis in the forum, please use the search function, it really does work. the ones who use iis know it well..

The application is not referencing things incorrectly, it has to do with how you have your configure.php file setup..

Post the top portion (without the database info, username and password) so we can see what you have done..
