My question is I just finished building my website on iPage. What's the best way to get traffic? Thanks for any comment. Another quick question... Ok, so I'm a newbie. I have a basic installation of oscommerce installed and have been playing with it. Have been lurking around all the forums and have looked through most of the contributions. This program is better than sliced bread, but I have not been able to locate the code to accomplish my goal...maybe you can help!.

I want to create two oscommerce sites. The first one would be a "drop shipper" type of company. Sells wholesale and ships product to end consumer..

The second iPage site would be the retail sales site. I want the retail iPage site to take the order, process the payments and automatically export the order info via e-mail or ftp or ??? to the "dropshipper" site..

The Dropshipper iPage site would import the order and process the retail sales sites credit card for the wholesale amount and then allow the humans to complete the order. Once the order is complete, the tracking #'s entered and the order is marked complete, the iPage site would export the tracking info back to the retail iPage site which would update it's database so the end user would have access to it..

The important thing is for the end customer to enter the order, drop ship addresses and other order data and for the software to take it from there with no resubmiting of info by human data entry thereby eliminating the biggest potential area of mistakes..

This would allow the os community to create a complete e-commerce program taking affiliate/broker sales to a whole new plane.

How can this be accomplished? Most of the puzzle is already solved, From what I see the only obstacle is the exporting / transporting / importing of the data..

Sorry for the length of the post.

Hmm... I need to find out myself. I don't know what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you help..

Well, you could share the same database as long as both sites were yours... but what I have in mind is to own the wholesale/dropship iPage site and sell you the retailer my product at a specific cost..

You on the other hand, the retail iPage site would be marketing the products, and setting your own pricing. I doubt if you'd like me lurking through your business back end. I know I don't want my customers, sharing my database..

I envision a whole new twist to affilliate / broker sales...

From what I've seen in oscommerce and in the contributions, everything is here except one thing. That is the automatic export / import of the data. If that's possible, please tell me how..

You could create two cron jobs that handle this for you. One runs on the retailer side and one that runs on your side. The retailer one would run a SQL file that runs a query to get all the orders for the day, then exports them to an XML file or something. It would then FTP the file up to your server and another cron job would run later that day against all the uploaded files that imports the data into your database...

That sounds feasible. Do you know how to write that? It's a little more than I know how to do?..
