One of the things I've put in my weight loss tool box is my spiritual practice. I don't want to offend anyone here, so let me say right now that I do not belong to a church. I was reared a Catholic, spent some time in a protestant church, and eventually struck out on my own and included Eastern philosophies and practices into my own spiritual practice. Mine is a very ecumenical practice.



My spiritual practice includes study,.

Prayer.

, deep contemplation, and a kind of.

Meditation.

That I've practiced since childhood that I characterize as a kind of attentive.

Listening.

To whatever is going on inside mea kind of non-judgmental awareness..

Anyway, one of the.

Books.

That I am currently studying is Deepak Chopra's Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul. This morning, I read, "It's hard to look past your physical craving, because bad habits always create a groove that the body follows over and over....Your body mirrors your desires so skillfully, completely, and silently that tracing the chain of events back to awareness isn't easy. But we have to do it if we don't want to be prisoners of our cravings." These statements encourage me that I am on the right track in trying to "listen" to my cravings until I get to their source..

Another tool in my weight loss tool box is some.

Recordings that I obtain from a company called Centerpointe.

Research.

They feature the sound of rain or the ocean, over which I have recorded my own affirmations, in my own voice, which are recorded on a subliminal track. That's great, but what really makes these recordings kick is what they have trademarked "Holosync". You listen with stereo headphones, and the audio is put into your ears at slightly differing frequencies. The differing frequencies force your brain to create new neural synapses in order to reconcile the sound. I don't fully understand it, but it is based on Nobel prize winning.

I don't think I would be just three days away from the GBS pre-surgery Medifast diet if I had not begun this change process on the non-physical level 20 or so months ago..

I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the right answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could help you..

Great post! I agree with incorporating whatever spiritual practice works for us. I love to do.

Yoga.

And get in touch with both my body and my mind. I also love His Holiness The Dalai Lama's writings among others. Even my little Daily Zen calendar in the bathroom keeps me present and in the moment. I for years tried to stay as far away from my thoughts and feelings as possible. I find that if instead I stay in touch with them I am capable of bringing my spirit into my life and things go a lot better. Peace, Misa..
