That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I find an answer. You should email the people at 123 reg as they probably could give you an answer..

By "typing in" I mean just randomly typing in whatever.net, not going to a .net site that you already know. like if you were looking for chocolate then typing in chocolate.net instead of going to google to search for chocolate and instead of going to chocolate.com...

But you do it with .ORG ? .

You type in chocolate.org ? .

I think that argument with "type in" is pointless to both .ORG and .NET,.

But I think I would first try to "type in" .NET and then .ORG...

I never said I type in .org domains. All I said was .com gets the type-ins and major recognition and .org serves a purpose for organizations and non profits and they are advertised everywhere and some major sites like craigslist and wikipedia use it. I said .com and .org both have an actual purpose where as .net does not...

Personally, I refuse to use .org for most types of sites. Just a personal preference I guess, but in my opinion the public as a whole views .org as "organization", hence limiting it's best use to such..

Although, let me add that I believe this is a.

Good.

Thing for the .org extension...

If YOU dont know about purpose of .NET that does not mean that there is no purpose...

About type-ins, I DO type in .orgs a lot, but only for names that have some organizational meanings..

The average joe is more likely to type in UnitedNations.org than UnitedNations.com.

Also, I've found myself typing .org more for Forum sites, since forums usually have that sense of 'community', unless of course it's an entirely commercial subject, like NP here..

Stigma, or not, this should open some eyes..

ANITIQUEFURNITURE.

.ORG.

Is listed on front page of.

Sedo today having sold for $2,270...

I also think that .org is more valuable than .net. and also when talking about country based sites and about a site that is oriented on US market I think .us way ore valuble than .net..

There's much more indexed pages for .org than .net. How much affect on value do you think this has?.

Google.

Site:.com = 6,180,000,000.

Site:.org = 2,370,000,000.

Site:.net = 451,000,000..
