Got a quick question: I want my own website: should I host with "iPage.com" or "yahoo small business"? Hoping for any comment. My other question... Hey guys. Got a question. Several actually. I've got a client that wants a shopping cart, wants to be emailed when there is an order and have one sent to the client.

And taxes to the total..

However there are NO shipping or payment options that she needs. will I be able to bypass these two options? I'm new to this and would appreciate help.

Thanks.

Erik..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an anything. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could help you..

Yup thats what she wants. No payment as her customers aren't comfy with credit cards on the 'Net. They are a custom utility pole and equipment manufacturer. She wants taxes too. Can I assume that Canada is listed under whatever tax option there is?..

How will she be getting the payment and how will the customers be getting the product?.

You set up taxes by zone (which are specified by a country and province combination). You have to set up the Tax Rates and Tax Zones in the Locations/Taxes section of the admin module. You'd just have to setup tax rates for all provinces of Canada..

I've had to modify the cart to do some weird things with the cart so I know what you're going through. I just hope I'm helping somewhat...

They'd be paying her by cheque and most likely using fedex or some other for shipping. I'll find out for sure. Hey, how easy is this to setup on a host that supports php? you are being very helpful, keep it up please! I'm coming from a love affair with Coldfusion. My host supports it but it's too expensive so php it is. Have not much exp with it though, so forgive any silly questions..

Well the program is written in PHP so it shouldn't be problem. There are certain things that require certain php mods (like some payment and shipping modules require libcurl), but unless your host is really exotic or you are trying to do really weird things you shouldn't have any problems..

It sounds like what you'll want to do is set up for maybe COD or the check option that osCommerce natively supports. As far as shipping are you going to decide on flat rate or is it included in the cost of the product..

Dude, don't worry about it. I've been there. Do you have much experience with C, C++ or other programming languages at all? That will definitely help in learning PHP...

So you need everything to stay the same except she needs no shipping options displayed and no payment options displayed? Is this still a shopping cart? What exactly is she selling?.

I suppose you could do free shipping, which is pretty simple to set up through the admin module. As far as payment you could do cash on delivery and just not worry about it..

If this doesn't do it and you want to bypass the shipping and payment screens completely you'd have to do some hacking and make the cart skip the first two steps of checkout..

I'm not sure I got the jist of your question, but hopefully this helps. If not, please post again and help me try to understand the specifics a little better...
