My first question is I want to know on the Medifast Diet how many points can I eat? Looking forward for any answer or 2. Another question I got... Hi all,.

Sorry for getting this started so late. I'd like to do a daily thread, as I know I personally get intimidated when I see threads with 13000 postings to it. Anyway, morning or afternoon all, depending on where you live!.

Work is super busy today. Soup is soaking and I'm going to check in as often as I can. As promised, our credo:.

Medifast is a wonderful program with many different types of support and a fabulous community. We understand that everyone is an adult and this is not a "mean" group. For some of us, we thrive on this program if we have a place where we are held accountable, where we commit to the program 100% and where we have a place to chat with others who feel the same..

What we believe:.

1. Cheating on Medifast is NOT a strategy to get us out of our fat suits.

2. The only way for us to learn about our problems with food is to take the word "choice" out of the equation when it comes to Medifast. Our only "choice" is 5 packets and 1 weighed and measured lean and green a day.

3. We look to those who have been successful with this strategy to continuously remind us about why this way, for us, is the way to go.

4. We believe that, even though we are completely committed, knowing that we have a group that holds us accountable for our actions is both useful and important.

We commit to:.

1. Remove the word "choice" from our vocabularies.

2. Follow the Medifast plan as written, including transition and maintenance.

3. Tell our "inner brat" to shut the H-E-** up and quiet him or her through abstenance from off plan foods.

4. Give and receive tough love without complaining or calling each other "mean".

5. Cheerlead fellow group members as they follow the path to thinness.

6. Make Medifast the LAST diet we ever go on.

7. Check in with the group as often as our schedule reasonably allows.

Anyone is welcome to join, and if folks have additional ideas on how we can commit, I am happy to hear them!..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can help you..

Good morning!.

I'm a Saturday weigher, but I didn't bother logging this last Saturday since the first week of the year didn't happen, and I only lost 1 pound. So today I updated with today's weight5.something down from the 1st, on day 3 in a row 100% OP..

Lunch was ground 99% FF turkey, which it turns out I am NOT good at cooking. Dry leftovers tomorrow, on to the rest of the freezer the next day, and no more ground meat in my grocery carts!!..

Getting the banner:.

Happy Monday all!!!! So far it's a great one, Cappacino down, soup soaking and baby took a 2 hour nap in his crib!!! That is a first, it's either 30 mins in crib or 2 hours on me while I'm trapped sitting still on the couch watching junk I shouldn't watch.

Monday weigher...down 5!!!.

I added the banner, so I'd better introduce myself a little. I'm GiGi, I'm married, no kids, three very gifted labrador retrievers, devoted golfer, lifetime eating problem, and no patience for excuses and not taking personal responsibility for the choices we make. I am occasionally blunt and I think that De was my first Medifast friend, so that kind of tells you where my head is at..

I'm also very supportive and encouraging of people who make the 100% commitment and would love to see everybody happy and healthy..

Started last June at 292 lbs. and I'm now down to losing my last 8. MF, and my decision to be 100%, has probably saved my life and it has certainly saved me from a lot of being miserable and feeling badly about myself..

I love the idea of a daily thread. I've always avoided the groups because it always felt like I was walking in on a party that started in 2006 and there was just no way to ever catch up or really fit in..

I also got the banner to work the first time, which is pretty much a record for me...

Dinner... I might have Egg Beaters tonight cause I'm pretty hungry today. Seems if I start the day with a crunch bar, I'm hungry all day. But Monday mornings are fast and nasty in these parts, so they're easy to eat in the car. Maybe next week I'll make some little oatmeal pancookies. Green beans sound like the ticket here, too, since I have a huge Sam's Club bag full. I'll probably thaw out something that I cooked ahead for Marc & Emma...

Mel, I had RTDs at a TSFL get together and I loved them! But they're kinda pricey. Maybe I can grab a cup of coffee with a cappuccino mixed in. A yummy treat formerly known as... anyone???..

Karen, I think I'd have trouble getting motivated to work out at home, too. When hubby gets home in about half an hour, we're heading to the Y. Tonight is lower body. I'll be doing leg presses, extensions, curls, and possibly calf raises. I hope the New Years Resolution people continue to level off. I want my gym back! I like to see people getting healthy, but some of the new people just don't know how to behave in the gym.

It's a social thing for them. They hog a machine while they text or talk to their friends... and the staff doesn't say much to them. They don't wipe down the equipment after they're finished, either. Yuck...

Penny before I started working at an office again I used to go to the gym (YMCA) every morning at 6:00am. My participation dropped off and then I let my membership expire in July thinking all of my lake activities would compensate. Needless to say.........they didn't. The only thing I did were elbow lifts (bahahahahahaha!) I too hate the January resolution makers so I'll most likely wait until the beginning of February to join again..

I still get up at 4:00am so having time FOR the gym before work won't be the problem. It'll be the getting TO the gym. I'm so proud that you've kept it up and know that reading your posts again will get me motivated to start again..

I had thought about training for a marathon but have bad knees and a bad back so would have to walk it. It would be fun but just not the same...

) you can have 2, although I can seldom get down more than 1.5...

Afternoon everyone,.

Welcome GIGI. Congrats on your losses to date! I can't wait to be 8 pounds from goal. That is where I stopped last time and we all know how that ended. This time OP all the way including maintenance. I skipped that part and here I am at 217.5. I was at 158 in May of 09 after being on Medifast for 9 months and losing 80 lbs.



I am down 10 lbs after week one so I am off to a better start than the first time around. No cheating til goal!..

Another thumbs up for the Chili Lime Burgers. I grill them and they're fantastic, except that I have to really watch what meals I eat for the rest of the day if I'm going to keep my carbs in the 80-85 range. They're going to be a staple when I get to maintenance...

I just received my order and tried the new pretzels. I like them ok..

THey aren't near as good as the old ones as they don't have even close to the amount of flavor and kind of have a weird aftertaste, but I can definitely eat them..

I'm glad I don't hate them...

Hey all. My friend who was visiting just left so I am getting back into the swing of things. I of course didn't let her visit effect my being 100% in anyway. I even managed to make it to the gym as usual. I just signed up for the gyms biggest loser contest. I sorta wish it would of started earlier in my weight-loss.



Dinner? I have some roast beef leftovers and probably mashed cauliflower...

Penny, I walked a half marathon earlier this year. Guess what day it was? Day 2 of being on Medifast for the very first time! That was a rich experience! Yep, I took my bars with me and ate one every two hours and I was SURE tired that night!.

You're right, though, it's not the same as running. It could still be fun if you walked it with a friend or a (small, not-getting-in-runners'-way) group. By the time I finished walking my half, several runners were finishing their full. I had one moment of inspiration near the end, though: A young man and woman were finishing their full, and the guy was really struggling to keep going. She was working really hard to keep him running, and they weren't moving much faster than I was. After witnessing a bit of this, I chimed in and said, "Hey, I'll run this next hill with you.

It helped me feel awesome at the end of a very, very long walk that I found to me more taxing than I'd expected!..

It's official: I can't get the soft serve down anymore. I've been working on the two boxes that I ordered when they first came out, and I got down to two of each flavor: chocolate mint and peanut butter. It's not so much the flavor that gets me, but the texture, and my ability to get it down gracefully has been decreasing. After trying it as soft serve, shakes, fudge, and just a few minutes ago, "hot chocolate" that I couldn't even swallow, I have given up on forcing myself. I initially threw the last 3 packets in the trash, then thought better of it and listed them on eBay. *laughs* Now I have have nothing but foods that I don't dread in my Medifast inventory!..

Dinner....steamed broccoli & mushrooms (a new fave that I learned from the L&G Queen) and baked tilapia. I'm craving Medifast chicken noodle soup, though. Have been sick for close to a week - finally went back to work only to have my throat get progressively worse as the day goes on. Perhaps I'm allergic to the office? Made a doc appt. for tomorrow to see what's going on..

I really like it, but it's too much work for me. It's not something I can really fix at work, so I don't eat a ton of it. I usually eat all 5 of my Medifast meals at work and then L&G at home in the evening..

I try to eat one of the soft serves as a meal during the weekend if I'm not too busy. I probably won't buy them again just because I like the choco pudding just as well if not better and I can mix that up ahead of time and take to work with me...

In that same vein (not that anyone asked), I feel the same way about the pancakes. I think they are really good, but I don't eat them very often because I have to fix them at home..

I like the brownies better anyway and those are easy to fix at work..

It is nice that there is something for everyone and every meal is interchangable...

OK all ToughLove'rs which is harder for you...weekdays or weekends???.

For me it's the weekend when hubs is home, he throws off the schedule and routine around here. I got to thinking that for some works might be harder with junk food pushing co-workers or lunch meetings..

Weekends are the worst for me! Work is actually really easy, I just prep my meals (or at least pack my Medifast packets) and I am set for the day. I always keep my container of water at desk and keep re-filling it. Even refusing all the snack and munchies lying around is easy for me..

Weekends are a lot more difficult because I am less busy, I get bored and I want to eat. Plus, going out with friends is always a challenge ( or shall I say "was" a challenge!). Weekends are getting easier, because I just plan out my meals for each day like a do at work and stick to it. And if I do go out with friends, we usually frequent the same places, so I know what is OP friendly on the menu...

Karen - Weekends are the toughest for me because I get off my schedule. Those are the days that I have been know to go until noon without eating. One of these days soon, we'll discuss the reasons I joined this group..

Weekends for sure. But I agree, that planning is essential. This weekend I have a bridal shower and a bachelorette party so it's going to be tricky. I plan to have my L&G at home rather than "wing it" with whatever they happen to be serving at both events. The shower is over lunchtime/brunchtime, so I'll probably get a shake and put it in an iced coffee, bring a bar with me, etc..

It's going to be funny to watch everyone get all silly at night. But I'll REALLY be laughing when I'm the only one who wakes up hangover free..

De - I have the same problem waiting too long to eat on weekends...

Sarahsorry, I forgot to include a disclaimer for those who haven't tried it! In reading around the boards, I actually haven't seen much of a contingent of those who just hate the soft serve; I may easily be in a minority! Definitely give it a chance. There are several foods that just bother me because of the texture that everyone else seems to love. No worries!..

I work 3 12-hour shifts a week, and I work most Saturdays, so I don't have "weekdays and weekends" so much as I have "work days and off-days." For the most part, based on my past experience with actually being in the Medifast groove, work days are much easier. I get up at the same time, and eat at the same times all day; at least 3 of my 5 Medifast meals are bars that I pull from my pocket. Off days are when I have more time to spend thinking about food, running errands and driving by places that sell food, have more time to prepare food and work more variety into my Medifast meals, etc. etc. The structure of a work day makes the structure of Medifast easier, it seems, as long as I eat closer to 1000 calories than 800 to make sure I have enough to handle the higher expenditure...

Happy Monday everyone. Weekdays are much easier than weekends. Dinner tonight is grilled chicken and salad. I am having dinner out with some friends. I already checked out the menu on line (what did we do before the internet). Water and exercise in.

I love it when my plan works and I can button these size 6 pants and not have to worry if they will fit today or not!.

Congrats GiGi on such a great loss. You are almost there. Yes....you are so right.....being 100% on plan is life saving. It was for me..

Thanks from me, too! Seven months on Medifast and I never even noticed that I could do that..

Weekends are harder for me, but only because the days are a lot longer. I'm probably awake an extra two hours on each end of the day on weekends and having to spread out the same amount of food can be a little tough. There's definitely more clock-watching as I wait for the next meal and there tends to be more eggbeaters on weekends...

Chiming in on the soft serve - I got the PB one to try. Not a big fan. I don't like chocolate and mint together, but I love it in the Medifast soft serve. That one is my favorite..

Lol! there have been several Medifast foods that have happened to me that way. Also vice versus. So funny how your taste can change..

I've been thinking about those silly pretzels. It's too bad they can't just call the new ones "bread sticks" and bring back the old pretzels too. I can definitely see a place for both. That way everyone (well not everyone, of course) would be happy..

The new pretzels (ahem, bread sticks) would be good with a cheese flavor too..

I'm guessing they've spent a ton on marketing the new ones though, so there won't be any changes any time soon...

Weekends are by far the hardest for me too..

Every weekend I make it through on plan I feel like I've made a huge accomplishment..

The hardest part for me is the drinking. My hubby's family are huge wine with dinner drinkers and I love it too. Last night we went to my MIL's for dinner and I made a pot of decaf coffee. It seemed to help having something to sip on that was different all evening...

Me? 1/2 eggbeaters with fresh spinach, some chopped green pepper, and olives (fat). Then one veggie burger patty. Have to figure out what else to have for the lean, but I'm stuffed right now. Probably some steamed broccoli..

Weekdays are the hardest for me, for one simple reason: water. It is just so dang hard to have time to drink. And, if I do, to get to the bathroom! Today, I had a 20 minute lunch period as my only break - and I spent it with students. <sigh> On the weekends, I can drink like a camel. And pee like a sailor...

I actually find it easier to stay on plan on the weekends. During the week, my days are scheduled with back to back meetings and it's HARD to fit in all my meals, even keeping plenty of bars available. Much as I like bars, I do get sick of them too. Can't stand the pretzels. Puffs are ok. blah blah blah - I just have to eat...

Speaking of blowing one's knees out, we had a killer lower body workout at the Y this afternoon. I tried hack squats for the first time. I did 8 at 110 pounds and it was okay - of course, it was after I'd done everything else. I'm modifying my workouts now so instead of the pyramids with increasing weights, I'm just doing three straight sets of 12 at a moderately high weight level. It takes less time and it's actually harder to do three long sets. But it gets me out of the gym more quickly...

I don't really find weekends harder... I've been eating 6x a day, even when not on 5+1, so this is easy no matter what day it is. Water, yes, that's a little more of a challenge on the weekends...

Weekdays are actually the hardest for me. I'm like Steph, my hours are so preplanned with meetings and conference calls it's really very difficult to remember to eat. I do so enjoy my weekend L&G's though. We try to find something really unique to grill each weekend that's OP. I also hit the HMart (for those in the ATL) and stock on on some really good varieties of Asian veggies to experiment with..

Just finished my L&G for tonight and I'm stuffed. I absolutely LOVE Eggbeaters but they sure do fill you up.........

Evening everyone! Today was, in every way, a MONDAY! I took chili for lunch but a really thoughtful co-worker brought me a salad from Subway, with Honey Mustard dressing. (I suspect it is the adkins dressing, so calories is probably high)..

I was was so starved and found it hard to resist. It was a large salad (lettuce and spinach)with very little dressing so I considered it my green, condiment and fat..

I was not able to get to my afternoon Medifast meal. Grrrrrrr so I had to include that with my dinner which was just the egg beaters..

Hopefully I didn't do too bad. I have been staying 100% OP since Christmas and the pounds are dropping off so slowly...but I am NOT giving up!.

Thoughtful isn't what comes to mind...one of the big things you have to get your mind around is that you don't HAVE choices. Your plan was chili, so that's your plan. Nuff said. No compromising on your green and "hoping". Weigh and measure, babe..

See the problem isn't that you had a salad and "hoped" the dressing was ok. The problem is that, by deviating from your plan, you're giving that little voice in your head the option of tweaking things down the road. The goal here is to shut that voice up...

L&G tonight was curry chicken with spinach and cauliflower. Yum. I wash the chicken breast, then while damp put it into a ziploc bag with the curry powder. Shake and bake. I did the spinach and cauli in a pan with 1 tsp olive oil and a pinch of garlic to get in my HF. One of my fav meals...

So I so excited to come home and log my food..

Admission time here, I have been faithful to weighing and measuring, only do water and have my condiments with dinner so I'd told myself that I didn't "need" to log..

So that was my commitment, to log everything. 1. It gives me something to look back at and 2. I think it's a good preparation for maintaining down the road..

But I came home and my F&*(&(&*(&ing internet didn't work! Arghhhh!.

Hubby came home and now the computer works again. Thank Gawd!!.

Also had egg beaters tonight. 1 cup egg beaters, 3/4 cup 2% cheese (waaaay too much cheese for anyone considering this...blech), 1/2 cup of cooked spinach and mushrooms in the omlette, 2 tsp butter for my healthy fat and 1 cup of steamed broccoli to round out my green..

Salad dressings are not a force to be reckoned with. There is such a WIDE variety of nutritional content in those, I don't use any dressings until after I have seen the information. I once spent several minutes in front of the wide variety of dressings available in my hospital's cafeteria and I found oneONE packet that falls within the allowed healthy fat guidelines. OK, now I'm furious. The cheese portion of 1.5 cups CANNOT be accurate as a lean. Just a warning folks. My calories today were a tiny bit above 1000 and my fat was almost 40 grams!!.

Lesson? Log BEFORE I cook. That said, I was so hungry and had no internet but I will never make that mistake again..

Em - Yes, I can't even argue anything you said. *hanging my head in shame*.

Tomorrow will no doubt be equally hard since I will be traveling...but I will take my food and have a plan. I just won't be able to cook a L&G but I will eat the yucky lettuce with no dressing. *makes a nasty face then toughens up to a smile*..

Em - I say this with all the love I can, but being a recovering cheese-a-holic, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH CHEESE! Bwahahaha. I am forever teasing my son about this. He is the ultimate cheese blasphemer! He removes the top layer of cheese from lasagna!!! The horror!!..

Deb - There is no reason not to have salad dressing. Just give it some thought and make sure that you get it on the side. Even before Medifast I always ordered dressing on the side and then "forked" it. You just need to be careful and make sure you log everything..

I'm a weird one. I can buy a bag of salad and sit there and much on it straight out of the bag..

Where are you going? Will you be going out to dinner? Can you look at the menu beforehand? Whitefish and steamed veggies makes a great lean and you can get it at most restaurants (Italian restaurants have GREAT fish, usually even)..

Let's find a L/G idea that you can enjoy. Heck, it's what I look forward to every day!..

Or, if you do have salad, bring your own dressing. Grab some Newman's Own "Lighten Up" balsalmic, hard boil 3 eggs tonight and grab a TBS measure. Easy enough if you're on the go, right?..

I am a very strange bird when it comes to salads. Ok, I am a strange bird regardless. I struggle (and when I say struggle, I mean "gag") with things that have a texture like onions. Irregardless of flavor. So a lot of lettuces will have the thick parts that I just can't eat. And lettuce has a chemical flavor to me.

Otherwise, I put dressing on it to cover the flavor. But, today I was so hungry and there was so little dressing, that I pretty much ate the lettuce place for the most of it...

Em - I do like the idea of taking my own dressing! I should do that! It is cold enough out that anything in my car won't spoil!.

I am driving to northern NY and it is only about 3 hours but it will be a long work day and I won't have a kitchenette. I am thinking it will be a plain salad and I will take some left-over cooked ground turkey pre-measured to toss in it...

MT, that recipe sounds delicious! I do the same with my chicken, but sometimes (I think we've talked about this before) I use cinnamon instead of curry. Yuh-HUM..

Emily, I'm wiping a tear from my eye. Way to Rogue up. Errrr.... I mean Way to show Tough Love! You were dead on regarding the change of plans. Exercise that NO muscle and it just keeps getting stronger..

Cheese lover here, too. De, I would even eat somebody else's cheese if they took it off their food. Love. That. Cheese. According to NS, though, 4 oz of moderate fat cheese (3-6 g fat/oz) can be used as a Lean option or 6 oz of lowfat cheese (1-1.5 g fat/oz).

When I first traveled to my husband's parents' house, I was on Medifast and they are not a, um... healthy-eating friendly household. I actually took my own salad dressing in a travel-size shampoo bottle. I think I put it in a Ziploc and kept it in my checked luggage. It worked like a charm! I was able to eat their salad the way I liked it, everybody was happy. Could be good if you don't want to carry the whole bottle...
