I would like to know the answer too. Anyone here know what is the answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I got an anything. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could give you an answer..
Dfuzz: you said [QUOTEI also set it up so that I receive an email too.[/QUOTE].
I have been banging my head on the desk today trying to do this, would you tell me?.
All I want is some type of notification that a customer has placed an order, the way it is now all I get is the Paypal email..
In your Admin Panel, look in your "My Store" list and you will see "Send extra email orders too". Just click on it and add your email address...
When I use PayPal IPN, for some reason it does not send an email to my customers or myself. When I use the stardard PayPal, it sends the emails...
Not sure what you mean by when you use PayPal IPN and not receiving emails..
Briefly, in order to use it a few things need to be done:.
- Install the.
- Enable and configure Instant Payment Notifications in your PayPal account profile (assuming you have a premier/business account)..
- Install the PayPal Payment Module in osC admin. Configure it as usual, accept the defaults..
- Make a trial purchase..
- Read the.
What I am saying is this..
When someone (customer) buys a product from my oscommerce store, an email is automatically sent to them and myself. The email shows the order information. This is the email that comes from me, not PayPal. Customers like that sort of thing and so do I..
When I use Paypal IPN, no emails are sent except the usuall PayPal emails..
That is my problem..
Why are the emails not being sent from my iPage site to the customer & myself?..
I dont really have time to go thro the whole process, but if the customer does not click PayPal's continue button, osC has no way of knowing to update the database and to genreate the order, this is where IPN comes in, and in order to use it, you must install a module like mine, PayPal_Shopping_Cart_IPN..

Anyway to ensure the customer does click 'continue' in paypal? I quite frequently have customers that close their browser after the paypal payment and thus I dont' get the order notification as it's not completed in paypal. VERY frustrating. We've added 'please be sure to press continue after your paypal payment' in our sequence but it's not as effective as I thought it would be...
I am presently offering PayPal IPN & Check or Money Order as means of payment..
1.) When someone buys with the Check or Money Order method, they receive an immediate email from my store confirming the order. I also set it up so that I receive an email too. This all works fine..
2.) When someone buys with the PayPal IPN method, they are not receiving the confirmation email from me. I am not receiving my emial either. I do receive the PayPal email from Paypal but neither myself nor my customer are receiving an email from my store when PayPal is used..
Can anyone figure this out?.
Thanks in advance..
I have had the same problem - not always but sometimes only the paypal payment goes through, the order does not process and the item stays in the customers cart...
