I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the answer to that question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably can help you..

Jim, your quoting went a bit wrong, so I'm specifically replying to this bit:.

Whatever you have done with BTS can be as easily done without using BTS..

Yes, using BTS might make development time faster, but that is the only advantage that I can see..

I see no reason why you cannot use "normal" osCommerce to make good looking sites that are changable for special occasions. I have in fact done this....

I also have user defined looks - the user can upload their own style! I don't use any of the so-called Templating systems as they are limited in what they can do..

Getting support is also not easy. Look at Marks original query in this thread - he had to bump it to get an answer. This is because a very small proportion of users here actually use BTS, and 95% of those that do are only using it because it short cuts the osCommerce learning process. Or, in other words, those that use BTS are (in the main) inexperienced with the "ins and outs" of osCommerce..

So in my opinion, if you have to use a templating system, at least STS is used by far more people and it is actively updated by it's original creator..

Of course, this is only my opinion, and as such should be taken with a pinch of salt..

I should have added this to my last post:.

Also... this whole template thing is confusing. I agree with the statement about generic sites. I design templates for my own use. I do not post them as contribs. WHY?.

Because I like my sites to be unique to themselves..

If you want cookie cutter websites.... Use FrontPage.

It is almost as ridiculous as those BUTTON contribs you always see popping up..

(If you cant even make your own buttons (Photoshop)... maybe you shouldn't quit your day job.).

Come on... If you are actually going to post a contrib.... Make it something useful..

This is a gripe I have had for a long time. NEWBIES so anxious to get their names in the forums and contribs they will try to fly anything...

Thanks Gary:.

As always I enjoy reading your posts. I may have missed the point a bit..

Need more coffee...

I don't use BTS. I just downloaded it to take a look at the template. I don't recall what else was available at the time. After realizing what was in it, I reported it to the team members and they removed it shortly after. If no one else has the mentioned files in their zip there must have been two versions..

Hey guys. I installed BTS and the itchi-tech template system because I wanted a different template from the generic OSC. I want to uninstall BTS and install a good looking template. I look into the contrubutions but all I could find was color changing contributions - things a can do on my own..

So basically there's two things:.

1) How to uninstall BTS.

2) Where can I get cool free template for OSC.

Hi Gigi,.

There are two ways of uninstalling bts..

1. Restore the files you backed up before installing BTS (you did backup???).

2. Install osc again (not viable if you have added contribs or made code changes).

As for free templates, what you see in the contribs is what you get i'm afraid. Gary Burton 'Burt' has a good selection of templates for sale but I can not list his url here..

You will find him on the forum if you look..

Thanks Mark:.

I did backup but-.

I've made so much code editing and modifications I can't untouched files from the modified ones..

I installed BTS thinking that it would be a progress and I would be able to install cool templates. All the templates I've got so far are the Itch Tech and the regular osC. I get errors when I try to install new ones - they won't display. Maybe because they're incompatible..

I guess I'm stuck with the regular osC template.

I'll locate Burt's webpage - I don't mind paying for a template..

I uploaded a free template, click on "skin reloaded" in my signature. It's kind of OK looking, maybe a bit plain - but (in my opinion) nicer looking than the standard osCommerce template....

I've been trying to find time to upload some more free ones, but I don't have many spare minutes these days..

Hi Guys,.

I have installed bts and the itchi-tech (under New Template in contribs) template from the contributions. The way I have it setup in the left column makes it only show the shopping cart if there are items in it..

The strange thing is it is adding the contents of any box that is above the category box into the categories box..

Take a look.

And add something to the cart..

Any clues as to why this is happening??.

Can anyone advise me on this one?.

Those links are there whether you add something to the cart or not...

I have just added that info box earlier on..

If I make the categories box the bottom box, ie under the info box it's okay and everything works as it should..

This is the code for the categories box.

 $corner_left = 'rounded';.

 $corner_right = 'square';.

$box_base_name = 'categories'; // for easy unique box template setup (added BTSv1.2).

 $box_id = $box_base_name'Box';  // for CSS styling paulm (editted BTSv1.2).

 $categories_query = tep_db_query("select c.categories_id, c.categories_image, cd.categories_name, c.parent_id from "TABLE_CATEGORIES" c, "TABLE_CATEGORIES_DESCRIPTION" cd where c.parent_id = '0' and c.categories_id = cd.categories_id and cd.language_id='"(int)$languages_id ."' order by sort_order, cd.categories_name");.

 $num_categories = tep_db_num_rows($categories_query);.

 while ($categories = tep_db_fetch_array($categories_query)) {    .

   $boxContent .= '<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" align="center">.

                       <td height="19" valign="middle" style="background: url('DIR_WS_TEMPLATE_IMAGES'linkbg1.gif) no-repeat;">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<a class="category_links" href="'tep_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'cPath='  . $categories['categories_id'])'">'$categories['categories_name']'</a></td>.

If ($z < $num_categories) {.

   $boxContent .= tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '5');.

 <td><table width="167" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">.

     <tr valign="bottom">.

       <td width="167" colspan="3" align="center"><?php echo tep_image(DIR_WS_TEMPLATE_IMAGES'link_topcurve2.gif', '', '167', '6'); ?></td>.

   <table width="167" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" class="box_info">.

       <td width="167" valign="top"><table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">.

             <td width="31" align="left"><?php echo tep_image(DIR_WS_TEMPLATE_IMAGES'left_arrow.gif'); ?></td>.

             <td width="90%" align="right" valign="bottom" class="pageHeading"><?php echo $boxHeading; ?></td>.

         <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" align="center">.

             <td valign="top" bgcolor="#CED7DE"><?php echo tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '1'); ?></td>.

       <td><?php echo tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '5'); ?></td>.

       <td><table border="0" width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">.

             <td><?php echo $boxContent; ?></td>.

       <td><?php echo tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '5'); ?></td>.

   <table width="167" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">.

       <td><? echo tep_image(DIR_WS_TEMPLATE_IMAGES'bottomcurv.gif', '', '167', '7'); ?></td>.

 <td><?php echo tep_draw_separator('pixel_trans.gif', '100%', '10'); ?></td>.

Herein lies the problem with using BTS. Not many people actually use it, and so finding support for it is very difficult..

I'm not sure that the BTS is still being developed is it?.

You can try this: In your infobox file for cateogires.php, put this:.

$boxContent = '';.

As it would appear that categories.php is picking up the previous variable $boxContent created by your shopping cart..

That might work..

Remember, using BTS is a big mistake...

That worked Gary, Thanks.

I took your advice on web iPage hosting by the way!.

Glad it's now sorted..

Ah cool, they're darn good. I'm well pleased with them...

I need to download this template again. Does anyone know where can I get it? I'm missing the modules/new_products.php file. THANKS!..

Send me your email address to and I will send you the file.

Thank you very much Mark..

I've sent you an email...

This download contains unethical code as far as the SE's are concerned and may very well get your iPage site banned. Be very careful if you are going to use it as is..

Just a question: why are you guys using the exact same template for your unique stores?.

It seems to me that they should be - well your own look and feel - not some generic template. After all - didn't you installed BTS (or whatever skinning contribution) to get away from a generic look? Only then to take the quick and easy way right back to a generic look?.

Just one of them things which makes a fella go - "shit - that seems kinda stupid."..

Jack will you please explain what you mean by this?.

Kevin, what are the odds that the same person finds both stores seeing as content is so different!.

In main_page.tpl.php you have.

  <td height="97" width="219" valign="top" class="hidden"><? require(DIR_WS_TEMPLATES'hidden.php'); ?></td>.

In you have.

.hidden { margin-bottom: 0px;margin-top: 0px;font-size: 0px;visibility: hidden;}.

In hidden.php you have (code snipped due to size).

<p class="hidden">UK supplier specializing in minimoto pocket bikes,.

<p class="hidden">pocket bike accessories, Mini-moto, Mini-moto, Mini moto, Minimoto,.

So what the author has done is include a hidden file full of keywords for his site. The size and color of the text are set so that they are not visible to you but the SE's will see them. If you have this contribution installed, view the source code of your iPage site with your browser. You will probably be amazed at the amount of information there that is not related to your site. Besides having adverse effects on your SE rankings (by including his keywords he is destroying your keyword density), this is very un-ethical and will get you banned in a heartbeat if they discover it. I, like many others, will report such sites to google since it is unfair to those of us that are doing it the ethetical way.

Is it really worth gettting banned?.

It would not have been so bad had the author pointed out what he was doing and explained to you how to remove thie offending code from the package. But he knew what he was doing and was trying to take advantage of everyone..

To remove the hidden code, remove the following from main_page.tpl.php.

   <td height="97" width="219" valign="top" class="hidden"><? require(DIR_WS_TEMPLATES'hidden.php'); ?></td>.

You should probably also delete the hidden.php file and remove the code in stylesheet.css that refers to it..

Hi Jack,.

I have found the .hidden in the sytlesheet but in the main_page.tpl.php all there is that is using the hidden class is.

   <td height="97" width="219" valign="top" class="hidden">&nbsp;</td>.

There is no mention of a hidden.php file and I cannot find any file called this on my server..

Kevin, So what is your point!..

Hmm. If I open up the contribution zip file, I have the following files listed (not a full list):.

Is that file not in the contribution zip file you have?.

Post the link to the contribution and I will have a look.

The contribution has been removed because of the spam. I'm talking about the contribution you have already..

Send me the zip file please I have deleted it and I would like to take a look at the one you have..

My email is a few posts above..

Hi Jack,.

I definately do not have those files, when you downloaded it was there more than one choice..

I am presuming that the author has updated his template and then uploaded it..

Other than that I have no idea..
