First question I got is iPage web host I need for Website that would contain some Adult Content? Many thanks for any comment. Another question on my mind: Hi,.

I have a client with a windows 2000 server. Can I use the windows version of oscommerce? Is that version still written in PHP? What is the database? Any special design considerations??.

Can PHP run on a windows server? Can we use IIS, or would we have to install apache??.

Thx!..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I got an decent answer. You should email the people at iPage as they probably could help you..

I have a copy of my store on a Windows 2000 laptop. I use it for developing and simply "playing around". It's great for programming during my long commute. I have windows versions of "everything required" installed and it works flawlessly..

I use apache (.htaccess), php , mySQL and cURL installed with absolutely no problems..

However, I.

Strongly.

Suggest that your live (production) server run on Linux..

There are so many documented security flaws in Windows.

That I would not be able to sleep at night..

To make a long story short... osCommerce doesn't care what operating system your server is on as long as everything required is installed..

There are problems with IIS 5.0.

IE step-by-step manual order entry, Easy Populate, Froogle Data feed, Etc..

Windows 2000 IIS 5.0 has a problem with session ID's. When the session_start() function is called it doesn't pass the current id and creates a new one. This causes all kinds of problems of being sent to the admin login screen and not being able to use a lot of admin functions. I've been fighting this for quite awhile with no answers. DO NOT use Windows 2000 server..

This doesn't even start to cover the problems with shared ssl...
