I downloaded that contribution. It had these instructions:.
1) run the .sql file in the folder "Sql" of this file to apply SQL changes to.
2) apply the "diff" patch or use "MS2 patched files" of this file..

I'm not sure where/how to do item # 2. Do you know? I'd hate to change anything wrongly. I'm a week into this and know zero php...

I just downloaded it and had a look at it myself, and you are right - it isn't very clear what this patch is. I am guessing that the latest version of osCommerce should be okay but to be totally sure you could either post a message in the 'Contributions' forums or email the contribution writer. His email address is at the top of the readme that you mentioned above...

If you have not changed files (catalog/index.php and catalog/includes/boxes/categories.php ) you can just upload files from this contribution.
And if you want to make changes by yourself , look into the files included in contribution and inside look for lines.

And insert everything between that lines to your files. to same place..
If you have some comparing software it will much easy to do..
I just not sure about language files ..
Of course do not forget to backup your files befor changing..

Currently all our products are listed in alphabetical order..
We want to list our items in price order, starting with the lowest priced first..
Do any of you geniuses out there know if this can be done and how?.

I have not used it myself so I cannot say how good it is, but it saves you searching through the contributions yourself, or waiting for a long and complicated answer in this forum!.
