Hi there! good to hear so much success with this crew! I have forgotten where I posted last but I will start with today..

Op yes.

Water 96 oz.

Exercise yes walking.

I do stay op and drink water and do scheduled exercise but I just dont always post. I am cramming with this math. I have had 2 tests and one on monday, finals on wednesday. My head is spinning. So I dont always get here to post my daily results..

Barb, I am so glad that you are doing so well. Surgery is no fun but you came thru it great. Also, happy anniversary. You are a true inspiration..

Good morning Crew! I know that I am the one who hates her scale.....don't worry, I still do!......and that I only weigh in once a week, but I decided to see how much of the surgery weight (my term for my big old blip on the scale on Friday) is still on this body of mine. I am happy to report that as the swelling goes down, so does the weight. I was 141 this morning. I'm feeling rather confident that once all of the extra fluid and the size small egg on my knee goes, I'll be comfortably back in the 130's..

Please keep my MIL in your prayers this week. DD and I had to go to Philly yesterday to see her. She has been in the hospital for 3 weeks and not doing well at all. DH is staying at her house and by her bed in the hospital every day. It has been a stressful time for the family, but for me as well. I think that I have commented here before about her.

My mom, who just learned that I had lymphoma, had to deal with this as well. The whole time I was sick, MIL hovered. She would come to stay with us and try to take care of me, but all she managed to do was make me feel guilty about not being able to get out of bed and help her with the wash or cleaning. It was a very hard time of our lives. I suppose that I've never gotten over this..

Yesterday, I could have stayed home while DD went in to see MIL, but I didn't. I went to pay my to speak. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I'm not real comfortable with her as a person or with how she has treated us over the years. What I did was make my peace. about a weight lifted off of my shoulders.

There was an understanding that we never could have reached until that point..

Perhaps understanding is one of the reasons why I am still here. Here I am surrounded by people who have dealt with the same demons I deal with. We all know what it is like to be overweight or obese. We all know what it is like to want food more than anything else. We all know what it is like to not fit into chairs or roller coasters. We all know what it is like to not be able to walk up a flight of stairs without having difficulty breathing..

Perhaps it is in fighting hard....together.....for something that is so very important to us... good health, that we can do this!.

Fight the good fight every day!.

Any new Crew members.

....we're having our own little.

Challenge to help us all get through the holidays. It's already started, but you can jump in - it ends Jan 2, 2011..

About our Challenge.

Here's the format:.

Report daily with a summary on Sunday. I will track the summary numbers and post.

- daily reporting is for our own accountability..

For your starting week, please tell me:.

(Weight Loss, Transition or Maintenance).

Medifast Starting Weight.

Challenge Starting Weight.

(Any day this week that you weighed will work if you don't have a Sunday/Monday weight).

Goal Weight.

Each day, report the following:.

OP: On our plan (5+1, 4+2, transition, maintenance): yes or no.

Water: _____ ounces.

Exercise: ______.

On Sunday or Monday report your weekly summary:.

Days OP:.

Days with water:.

Days with exercise:.

For those in Maintenance, I'm going to invoke the "fuzzy rule" - if you're within your goal range, report your goal number. That way, minor fluctuations aren't interpreted as gains.

Or losses.

Here's the banner - take out ALL the ***.

WE CAN CREWS through the holidays HEALTHY!!..

Wow - busy this morning...I'm a little late with my Challenge post, but that's OK. Don't forget, today and tomorrow are summary days. I'll be quicker turning the results around this week...

Once again you have inspired me with your posts. Thank you for having the guts to write what you really feel..

More snow has fallen but the area of town with the trails has received minimal. Trails still not safe enough for large teams and I just don't have enough time to run multiple small teams. So on the ATV I will stay. But really, really cold temps are forecast this week (Debbie). Should have some nights below 0. That will help refreeze things..

Friday stats.

OPyes, yes, yes.

Exercise25 miles with the dogs, and some shoveling..

Saturday stats.

OPyes, yes, hard because we made cookies with my favorite boys, age 7 and 5. But I made it.

Water70 ish.

Exercise25 with the dogs.

Jan, weekly stats later tonight..

Gotta drive out to the Willow property (80 miles away)this morning, get some firewood, Play my guitar at Mass in my favorite little country church, pick up some mushing supplies, and try to stay OP. In the Past driving has been nibble time for me. Will have gum and more gum and those yummy cinnamon pretzel sticks to help me stay OP today..

Have a great day today, everyone. Love reading the posts. Wish I had more time to lurk..

Mornin,' crewsers. Feeling virtuous 'cause I've already been to the gym and I'm already past the halfway point with my 90 ounces of water. BBL with stats. I'm so glad someone came up with this challenge to get us through the holidays and I'm so glad I found you!..

Wow Barb - very inspiring..

I lost 5 lbs this week - I'm sure it was due to the massage amounts of water I consumed! It's nice to see the 160's again.

Over 90 oz of water.

Exercise - yes!.

Sounds like everyone had a great day so far!.

Weekly stats:.

On plan: 5 days.

Water: 7 days.

Exercise: 3 although it depends on how you count PT..

Weight on Friday weigh in: 144.

I would use today's 141, but Friday is the official weigh in day and I am going to stick to my Friday number. Its what I do!.

Sounds like you had a very busy morning. I'm tired just thinking about it..

Two days in a row 100% on plan and cookies avoided! You go girl..

5 pound week. Gotta love that water and MF!.

Have a great evening everyone. I am home in a quiet house enjoying a good book, fire in the fire place and a nice grilled chicken salad. Nothing like an empty house after the madness of the last week..

Hey all!.

I've been really busy so that's why the lack of posting. I've been op no real issues the past few days. I had a nice 6 mile run before Thanksgiving to account for the few tablespoons of things I tried. I was more shocked at how my taste buds have changed. I had a super small sliver of pie with whip cream and it was just not good at all...

Sunday stats 127 lbs.

OP 7.

Exercise 6.

Water 7.

How was your sisters 5k? I had a laugh at you wondering how I manage drinking all that water! Last week when I was in Orlando with a friend she tried to match my water intake and then she had to go to the bathroom 4x during our movie! I didn't have to go at all. I'm convinced I'm a freak of nature! I'm glad you got closure with your MIL I remember your car ride with her not long ago. I hope you have some peace after your discussion with her..

I seriously have bladder envy. I wonder if we can clone it?..

Hi All-.

I am brand new. Today was the first day for me, so allow me to introduce myself..

I'm a 43 year old mother of 2 boys, 8 and 7 years old. My husband of 10 years is supportive, works and travels alot. I am a registered nurse and have worked in the hospital setting for 15 years, and am currently and gratefully a full time stay at home mom..

I was always about 140, active with belly dancing and running until I had kids. I lost all the baby weight (70 pounds!) right after our second child, but gained it back after a running injury..

So yeah, my baby is now 7..

I've become much less active, definintely have become an emotional eater, and have come to enjoy that evening glass(es) of wine just a little too much..

I'm happy and excited to get back on track with Medifast!!.

I'd like to be part of this crew and am hoping to learn the ropes of this online community quickly..

All the Best,.

I think because I've always drank this much it has gradually enlarged? I mean I still go every few hours and once at night. I drink even more with dinner. I have at least 47 oz AND a coke zero! You can see for yourself when we do our half marathon together! So I'm hoping you are taking good care of your new knee!..

Welcome Pixi! Please ignore our bladder talk....unless of course you want to add some bladder cells to the cloning we are planning to do with cells from Melissa's bladder..

Melissa.....I was thinking about selecting a 1/2 with lots of porta pottys. But if we clone your bladder I won't need to worry about that!..

Seriously.....welcome Pixi. This is a great crew of supportive losers! We are in all stages of weight loss with lots of ideas and support..

Go to the first page of this thread and you will find an intro thread and a banner for the Crew. Jan also has posted our rolling crew challenge for the holidays. All you need to do is keep track of being on plan, drinking water and exercise..

You may want to go back and read last weeks thread which has a post about why we drink water. We promise we have life preservers. We are also working on a scientific discovery to build or clone bigger and better bladders. Stay tuned! I need to do something in my lab...

Barb I hadn't even thought of needing bathroom breaks during our half! Eek! When I ran my 7 last week my farthest yet I didn't have to go. Maybe that means I will only have to go once on our half!.

Welcome Pixi!!..

Sunday: OP, yes; water: yes; exercise yes. Trips to bathroom: can't count that high. :-).

My stats:.

I just started the challenge on Friday, so here are my stats for those 3 days:.

Weight: 178.

Water: 3 days.

OP: 3 days.

Exercise: 1 day..

I want a piece of the cloned bladder!!! I go ALL THE TIME! I had issues way before I started going to bed with water. We couldn't do the Duck Tour in Boston last summer because they didn't have bathrooms on board.

! I'm adding you in right now. Go read the challenge info and post the rest of you starting stats, please. And,.

, I'm going to score you with 7's for your 3's because 7 is 100%. I''m not going to interpolate the exercise because I'm not awarding ribbons for that - everyone has their own routine and number of days and rest days and, and, and, so it's too hard to compare..

Sounds like we're off to a great post-Thanksgiving start. I've been OP all weekend, today being an especially good day - 50 min on TM for 2.5 miles. I stepped it up a bit..

Sunday's stats are OP - Yes, Water - Yes, Exercise - Yes..

Have a great rest of the evening!!..

I am so taking orders for the cloned bladders!.

Today: On plan: Yes..

Water: Yes.

Exercise: PT..

Stats for Sunday:.

OP (Maint.) yes.

Water - 80 oz. and counting.

Exercise - 1.5 miles.

It's funny, but I feel really happy when I get up to go to the bathroom in the I weird? I just think that it's a good reminder that I am doing something very right, before Medifast I would sometimes hardly drink anything all my bladder..

Welcome, Kitty and Pixi and waving to Barb, Jan, Heidi, Melissa, Kim, Barb, Bobbi, Courtney, Allison, Diana, Christine, all of you dear Crewses - here's to a good week!!!.

Deb, you've got a good point there. I'd still like one of those cloned bladders, though. <LOL> Jan, thank you...

I have had a really busy week. I haven't been on the internet since Tues. I have my summary but didn't post everyday..

OP 3 days.

Water 4 days.

Exercise 4 days.

I hope to do better next week. I'm just relieved to only gain 1 lb..

Hi Pixi,,.

Giving up my evening glass (or two) of wine is the hardest part about Medifast for me. I'm here to support you on those tough nights when you just want one..

All that said, I love MF. It works and I enjoy the food and love the support of this Can-Do-Crew. Welcome to our group..

Mornin,' crewsers. Oh my, only two trips to the bathroom last night. Yay! Newbies: I'm a crew newbie myself; please don't be put off by all the potty talk. I'm afraid I might have started it. Anyway, I'm off to make a dent in a 50 ounce water bottle..

Has anyone read the book.

The End of Overeating.

By David Kessler? I'm rereading it. He's got some real gems in there. Not that this book stopped me from overeating; it did not. Medifast did that. But this book has so many insights, things I've underlined that I can mentally file away and then pull out when I need to...

Kitty, that is one of two books that has quite literally changed my life. I still read passages every night before I go to bed. It might just be a paragraph or two, but it helps me focus on what I need to think about..

Some of his points that I think about frequently:.

1. Layered food: This is food that is layered with salt, sugar and fat. I can't eat it anymore. I started reading Clean Eating (they have this in the library so I don't have to buy it) and this reinforces the idea of eating simply foods. As you focus on the simple taste of food, you come to enjoy it so much more. Example: Broccoli.

Today I eat it lightly steamed with a shake of Mrs. Dash or Jane's Crazy Mixed up Salt (I love this stuff! Very low sodium, very high taste.) If I am going to make a layered food, great care is taken to select the ingredients..

2. Trigger stops: I have noticed that I have quite a few places that trigger me to stop and get something sweet to eat. Most notably, a little farmers market, loaded with baked goods, that I pass every day on the way home from work. Even though they have fresh veggies, I could not stop once while I was on 5+1. I was so afraid of the automatic reflex of going to the baked goods and picking up brownies or cookies or.....well you get the message..

As I have made this journey, I wrote in my journal every day. I put down some of the most painful things of my life and planned how to deal with them. I faced the demons of food and overeating. The Kessler book and Wayne Dyers "Excuses Be Gone" inspired me to face these things. I still write in that journal today. When I am having a rough day, I go back and read the things I wrote early in the journey.

I was just thinking about one of those things last night as I looked in my closet for "Holiday" clothing. My daughter and I sing one of the masses on Christmas morning. We usually dress in similar clothing. We have often dressed in black velvet dresses with matching scarves. Well this year I am a size 6 and she has lost weight as well. I was thinking about going shopping, when I remembered my store breakdown.

I was getting some clothing to start school. I was probably about 185 pounds. I went into the store and picked up some XLs. I tried them on. They felt a little loose, but I figured in my mind that I would never be anything but extra large, so they would be what I would buy.

I broke out in tears. Tears because I never imagined that I'd be less that an extra large person. Tears because size had such a huge impact on who I thought I was..

Perhaps this is another reason that I stick around. I am willing to write about my journey and share with others. I only hope that some of what I say helps someone on their journey..

Fight the good fight!.

Weekly Summery:.

So, I wasn't going to weigh until my weigh in day later this week, but I decided I might as well face the music and do it now. I am sure part of that is water gain, cause my normally loose rings were tight this AM. I am happy to post that I am back OP today!..

Love that story of you needing something smaller than an XL. Don't think I've heard that one before. I definitely teared up getting my size 4 jeans as well..

Speaking of sizes! I found some size 7 shorts in storage last week. They are about 10 years old. Ya they would barely button! Proof that sizes have definitely changed from 10 years ago.I"m still enjoying my size 4s but it's frustrating that companies feel the need to do such vanity sizing..

, I will hope for some freezing weather for you. Actually, I will hope that you keep it and I don't get it!.

Today's stats:.

On plan: yes.

Water: yes.

Exercise: PT.

My knee is doing very well. I'm still a little slow on stairs and the knee can get stiff, but I am very pleased with my progress. Don't worry, I'm taking my time. I want to run again!.

On the bladder cell cloning......I have a funny story to share.....

Today, I met with a scientist who will be in my classroom for the next three days to work on tissue culturing with my students. It is very difficult to grow tissues outside of very controlled situations in the lab, and a HS lab just doesn't have the equipment needed, so I try to bring someone in. Well I was thinking this morning that if I had the right equipment, I could try to get bladder cells to grow. I'm still on this cloning kick! When my scientist showed up I just laughed at his license plate. It was "Clone". I just told him I thought it was great license plate.

I also didn't ask him if he would like to clone bladder cells. I don't think I guy would understand!.

Have a good one crew! Fight on!.

Maintenance OP yes.

Water - yes.

Exercise - Yes - 80 min. fast-ish walk! (It was 51 degrees!).

Hope everyone had a good day today..

MELISSA - I'm sure you're lookin' good in those size 4's - way to go!!.

JAN - still thinking about those 'trigger stops' Barb mentioned - a perfect description, I, too, struggle with that and so happy when I just drive by and change my focus. Sometimes, so hard, though... Thanks so much for doing our stats..

BARB - so glad your recovery is going well. You are so upbeat, it's amazing it's only been a couple of days and you're on the stairs. wow!.

BOBBI - I see that school is keeping you really busy. It's so invigorating, though, and that last class and last exam for the semester - always so sweet. Good luck on this week's exams..

CHRISTINE - wishing some freezing weather for YOU. We had 51 today and it was a great day to have a great long walk. I'd love to be on a sled, though, wonder if I will ever cross that off of my bucket list....but since cold is involved, probably not..

I hope that you will have it exactly right for you and the dogs very soon..

Waving good night to all of you, HEIDI, KITTY, DIANA, EBONY, COURTNEY, PIXI, BRENDA, SHERRY AND ALL OF YOU CREWSERS! Have a great Tuesday - OP!.

Barb, I'm still thinking about those trigger stops. So apt. Where I gas up my car is a place where I used to binge. Now when I run inside to wash my hands after gas-ing up, I put on imaginary blinders and trot past the bad stuff. In & out in seconds..

A night w/o getting up at all to pee, and after 90 ounces+ of fluid? Wow! I was more tired than I'd thought I was. Slept in a little and have not yet started on my water. Uh-oh, better get on with it or I won't catch up...

Morning Everyone! Had work issues last night, so was called at home and fixing things at 10:30 p.m..

Which means I way overslept this morning. So no TM - I think I'll do the stairs twice - go again this afternoon. Good way to work off some of this frustration, too, as I've been continuing to clean up the mess since I got here..

, I absolutely.

My pedometer....and really miss it since DH washed it.

I'm hoping Santa brings me a new one. I can't remember a night that I didn't get up at least.

Once. if it's only once or twice, I'm thrilled.

- glad to see you back!.

- don't drown out walking today!.

- OP - YAY!!.

Waving to.

Melissa, Barb, Heidi, Christine, Diana, Courtney, Brenda, Kim, Allison, Pixi & Bobbi.

Hey Crew!!.

Sorry for the delay this week. It's been so hectic since returning from our weekend away. The temptation was great, but I survived!! I was only down .5 pounds this week, but now am only 7 pounds to goal. I tried to just eat the salads with the meats that were offered and seem to do pretty good. No camp desserts!! Now THAT was difficult!! But it was nice leaving the weekend and not feeling like a failure. The only downside to our weekend was that my daughter got bit on the lower lip by the barn dog on Sunday morning and her and DH along with one of the wranglers spent about 3 hours at the ER getting her glued up.

God certainly protected her sweet face..

Now for my summary:.

Weight: 137.

OP: 3 (the 4 days at camp were under control just not 100% MF!).

Water: 7.

Exercise 5.

And as for yesterday:.

OP: Yes.

Water: Yes.

Exercise: No...just running interference between DS so he wouldn't bop his big sister's lip!!.

On track today....

Sorry this is so short - but besides trying to ensure DD is protecting her lip, DS has the stomach bug going around. It's a FUN day here today!!.

Take care, Crew!!..

Guess what I found in my closet with a purchase date of January 2, 2010, in it's original packaging? A pedometer. So I set it up and put it on my waistband. Since I'm not working today and didn't exercise, the count is very low. I will be very interested to see how many steps are registered tomorrow @ work!..

Hi everyone out there. Got my Christmas decorating done today and right now the dogs and I are curled up on the couch enjoying the glow. Only did minimal this year, but it looks just fine. No parties, family christmas here, or anything too exciting, just a quiet one planned. "Better to stay OP with, my dear....".

I was on my way out today for a long walk around 5:00 (54 degrees), when my friend and co-worker called. She was a mess, had heard some disturbing criticism and was at her last nerve's end. She just wanted to come over and vent and boy, did she! We opened a bottle of wine and I had NOTHING in the house to serve a guest, so I opened a bag of Corn chips and Salsa, along with some whole rain crackers and hummus. It was just enough and we had quite a chat session. She felt better when she left, I think the fireplace and Christmas lights along with the wine helped her mood immensely..

So, in doing a good deed, I have gone off OP - DH was out tonight and I had the dinner planned (ratatouille with beans and whole wheat pasta). However, I had to think quick. Now, I do know that I didn't have to eat those corn chips, and I didn't have many, but it sure wasn't on my plan for the day. Anyway, I missed my walk, didn't eat well, but did get the water in and am still pushing..

OP no.

Water yes.

Exercise no.

Tomorrow's another day to ' do good ' and stay OP and get that water and exercise in. It's supposed to snow, but I hear there is an aqua aerobics class nearby which I will check out in the a.m..

Thinking of all of you, dear Crew friends, and thanks to you all for your inspiration and good thoughts, as always..

Happy Tuesday night crew! Busy day. Back to school, hair and massage. Tired from running all day, but feeling wonderful!.

On plan: Yes.

Water: Yes.

Exercise: No.

In regards to cloning bladder cells.I picked the scientists brain today during lunch. OK, so the people in the lunch room with me sometimes just roll their eyes. There are 4 science teachers that eat together every day. We get into some very interesting discussions on our own, but today we had a real scientist to talk to..needless to say we got into a discussion about cloning insect cells. Dont ask why insect cells, Im a nerd! I didnt ask about cloning bladder cells, but I opened the door to discuss it tomorrow. Stay tuned..

, I agree that it is more than a coincidence. We meet people in our lives at the time we are suppose to meet them. I think the universe is telling me something. LOLyou are all going to think I am so weird!.

, I think the circles count! Im glad you can face the gas station. Once you know the problem spots, you can avoid them..

, welcome back..

, should I ask the new people about their bladders?.

, those trigger stops can be nasty. I actually changed the way I go to the grocery store so I dont go past Handels Ice Cream. It was and continues to be a trigger spot..

Is creeping closer and closer to goal..

Is on plan!.

Congrats to all the on plan blue ornament and red ornament winners last week. I will be a blue ornament winner this week. I know I will, I know I will!.

Fighting the good fight!.

I think the only good thing about being off plan two days last week was that one of them was because I didn't eat 1000 calories. That is my plan minimum. I don't let myself fall below that number. Some days when I really don't feel well it is easy to not eat 1,000 calories. I just have to remember that if I don't, I will screw up my metabolism..

Good evening, crew. Long, rough day at work - again. So busy I didn't even have my mid-morning til noon.

But stayed OP.

Water yes and YES to exercise!.

Am totally pooped so no shout outs for me tonight. I'm planning on being a Blue Ribbon winner in both categories this week - I think I can,.

I think I can.

By the way - JAN - I LOVE the ornament ribbon awards. They really are perfect for this challenge and so cute - and moving up and down, well, they are fun. Thanks!!..

Hey Crew,.

Thanks for wishing me all the cold. It has arrived with temps falling below 0. Makes for a running nose and frosty eyelashes but the dogs love it. Had to get out my big warm mitts tonight..

I can't remember if I told you guys before but the dog in my picture is one of the puppies, Jubilee, who is all of 15 months old. She has been showing excellent promise in lead and led most awesomely again tonight, especially through some parts of the trail that were drifted in with last nights high winds. Exciting to watch the puppies and veterans mold into a team..

Monday stats.

You guys did so good wishing me the cold. Could you also wish me some snow???? Like a foot or so???.

55 degrees here yesterday and we've got snow flurries this morning...welcome to Michigan..

Perhaps it's only flurrying because you're getting the heavy stuff, Christine..

Mornin,' crewsers. It's a rare rainy morning here in SW FL. Chris: I'll send it up to you as snow. Midway through my mug 'o decaf, to be followed by starting on my 50 ounce water bottle. Oops, didn't put on my pedometer yet. Every step counts!..

Barb, I looked for the book Clean Eating but was unable to find one with that exact title. I found many others with a similar title on amazon and on my library's web site. If you have a minute could you check the title and the author for me? Much appreciated...

Today has been 100% OP so far, yay!!! Been struggling so much, but I CAN do this, I WILL do this!! Can't believe I regained most of the weight back, but I'm getting it off once again. And this time, it's STAYING OFF!!! Taking one day at a time!..

To see you again!! I can relate to your struggle - it's one day (packet!) at a time for me, too. This challenge has really helped me stay focused. Please feel free to jump back in..

Here's some number-nerd fun facts about our challenge so far:.

When we started, we had already lost.

Eastern Lowland Gorilla, weighing in at 500 lbs.

We're in the middle of week 4 and we have 5 more reports (Dec. 5/6, 12/13, 19/20, 26/27 & Jan 2/3). Here's how we're doing so far:.

Oh well on the bladder cloning talk. Maybe today?.

Wednesday Stats.

OP Yes.

Water Yes.

Exercise 30 min Elliptical.

Well I survived a bite of a big trigger food yesterday!.

Warning food talk.

One of my trigger foods are sugar cookies. A big grocery store in Florida Publix they have the best fresh bakery sugar cookies. They were giving out samples yesterday and I really wanted a bite but I was worried then I would be in the parking lot eating 8 of them! I had my little bite and lived to report to Jan via Gmail Chat that I stayed OP! Yay! I was so nervous but overcoming hurdles like this reinforces my love of Medifast and everything it has taught me. Alright hope the Crew is having a great day!..

Melissa, it's so gorgeous where you are! I've only been there a couple of times and have always meant to go back to take a boat ride. But dh is not at all inclined to go anywhere, so I haven't gone...

Happy Thursday Crew! My knee if feeling much better today. I decided I should take Aleve for a few days to see if that will help. There is much less swelling today than the last two days. MIL is still in the hospital on a breathing machine. DH hopes that within the next week they will be able to move her to a different hospital. He will be home tonight, which I am looking forward to..

Did you know.

I was just reading some research that showed that people who were part of an on-line dieting community have a better success rate in maintenance than those who are not. When users logged in regularly for 2.5 years, they maintain an average of about of their weight loss, as compared to those who logged in for 14 months who maintained about of their weight loss..

Sothe question is..if I want to maintain 100% of my weight loss (that is my plan) how long do I need to stay here?.

Seriously, the lesson here is that if we surround ourselves with people with similar goals, we can be successful. Thats what I love about the crew. We have similar goals. We want to stay on our eating plan. We want to make sure we have enough water to lose or maintain our weight loss. We want to exercise.

We share our successes and ideas. We help each other through the struggles. We support each other every step of the way. We are all dealing with the same problem, so we know how to help..

By the are some of the other results of studies that were mentioned in the article..

1. Drink lots of water. The older you are, the more this helps. Evidently, the older you get, the longer it takes for your stomach to empty. WOW.a benefit of old age!.

2. Follow a steady consistent plan, so that your metabolism operates most efficiently. Fasting and calorie depravation alters your metabolism. Binging alters your metabolism. Alcohol alters your metabolism. Every time you alter your metabolism, your weight loss slows..

Just your dose of science for the week!.

Fighting the good fight!.

, gotta love that water! Flushing away the pounds. Thats what I use to say every time I flushed..

Waving to.

, congrats for meeting your first goal. Better late than never!.

, those are one of my triggers as well. You made the right decision. A little bite and off you go! My teaspoon rule. Congrats!.

I hope everyone had a great day!.

Good Evening everyone - well, according to BARB, my metabolism was just altered as DH and I went out for dinner and I couldn't resist a glass of wine. In Maintenance, I tell myself I can have one a week, but it's only Thursday.....metabolism altered. BUT, the worst part is that it kicked off my "I don't care" button and I wanted SO BADLY to drive to the hardware store that has the little bags of my favorite candy. I had to hurry and make an Medifast Brownie and, of course, that was just the ticket. That is something to be so careful of - letting your defenses down......

Personally, I try to be ready for that glass of wine on Friday or Saturday with the appropriate calories banked, but this last week has not been working according to my plan. I know this is because I I I I have not been planning well. More work to do tomorrow..

Wed. stats.

It's been a crazy, crazy week at work and I'm WAY OFF schedule.

But, I AM OP.

OP - Yes, Water - Yes, Exercise - No.

OP - Yes, Water - Yes, Exercise - No, unless shopping counts, or running around like a crazy woman, eh,.

Thanks for the science lesson.

- I need all the reinforcement I can get. I can relate to.

"I don't care button". I had to ignore a trigger food today, but it was really hard because the "I don't care button" was stuck. I focused on why I was doing this and how uncomfortable I was in my clothes and I just kept on truckin'.

- enjoy your snow!.

Waving to all the crew - I gotta hit the hay!..

Couldn't sleep. 5 a.m. is my get-up time on Friday but by 3:45 I was done. At first I resisted; thrashed around in the dark, then woke up one of my kitties for some cuddle time, then gave in and made my decaf. Turning a negative into a positive, it gives me extra time to start drinking my water. HA!!..

I'm right there with you, Kitty. 5:30 is my wake-up time everyday, but at 4, I was done. Ditto, tossing, turning, etc. No kitty to cuddle with, so got up and I'm fresh off the treadmill... 45 min for 2.26 miles!.

Another finally...I haven't been on TM since Sunday, although I did exercise Mon & Tues. Feels good! I'm gonna hit the shower while DH is having his coffee & Raisin Bran...maybe I can actually get to work.

OP: yes.

Water: yes.

Exercise: yes, not my normal treadmill but up and down in the attic and a brisk wall through the mall 2x's.

YEAH, being OP plans off. The weight gain from Thanksgiving is gone, gone, gone! HAPPY DANCE..

Hey, I just got my first pay back from Blue Cross Blue Shield because I ACTUALLY made it to the gym 12 times last month! $20 back in my pocket and a nice incentive to keep going. If I keep it up, my membership will only cost me $13 per month. That's called a NSV-right?.

Have a great day everyone. I'm off to take my mom shopping before the winter storm hits. No happy about going out in 11 degree weather, but when I think of Christine, well, I guess I've got nothing to complain about. See ya!..

I just realized I never uploaded our weekly chart.

Without any further ado......

Looking forward to the weekend and the new exercise class by my house..

Have a good evening everyone. Off to put my feet up for a few minutes..

Happy Friday everyone. Friday brings weigh in and report day. I am happy to report after last weeks little 144 pound blip, I saw 139 again this week. At least this time I didnt let the little blip turn into anything more. Im still going to be careful because I really want to be back at 138 again. Thats where I was all of last spring.

We found out today that they are moving my MIL to a hospice hospital on Monday. They cant get her off of the breathing machine she is on. Please keep her and my DH in your thoughts and prayers..

, Ive been known to have an occasional glass of wine. The calories dont bother me too much, but if Im not active, the wine does slow me down a bit. The funny thing is that one glass has quite an effect on me now..

, we are going to have blue ribbon weeks! Keep on fighting. Some of those triggers are a pain. I have some things stashed so it isnt so bad. I usually always have gum, a water bottle, and yes.I still have some Medifast bars and pretzels ready for those occasions..

, nothing like a little more time to drink water..

, I wonder if someone would pay me to exercise? That would make my day..

, you are getting closer and closer! Just a little over 5 pounds to go. I am looking forward to sharing transition and maintenance with you..

, you are going to join us in transition and maintenance soon as well. Woo hoo! Dont you just love those 130s..

Heidi, Bobbi, Melissa, Allison, Ebony, Diana.

And the rest of the crew, have a great weekend..

Crewsers, I'm too pooped to peep but I do have one question. Would it be OK to claim the 11,000+ steps I walked today as exercise? I didn't go to the gym or take a walk, per se. These 11,000+ steps were taken in the course of a workday and in visits to 2 stores (where I did try & walk around a bit). Is that OK?.

Water: yes.

OP: yes.

Exercise?: waiting to get your feedback..

, If you did some extra walking outside of the normal then you could count it as exercise. I counted my taking boxes in and out of the attic and carrying tables for a yard sale as exercise. I do prefer my trackable treadmill time/calories, but other things count too...

Yes, I am just around the corner from transition. I will be leaning on you when I get there...

What I was trying to say, but was too tired to think through coherently, was about the 10,000 steps for health that you hear talked about so much, and that even though I hadn't dedicated a specific chunk of my day to 'extra' walking, I had built it into my day; earlier in the week I had under 5,000 steps. Here's a short quote from the web:.

"A sedentary person may only average 1,000 to 3,000 steps a day. For these people adding steps has many health benefits. ".

So that's why I was wanting y'all's opinions on whether I could count it. If no one objects, I will count Friday as an exercise day...

Good morning Crew..

Blizzard not so bad, only 2 inches, but every little bit helps..

Thursday stats.

Water-barely but yes.

Exercise-13 miles with the dogs.

Friday stats.

Waterfell short, only 50.

Exerciseyes, 29 miles with the dogs.

Heading back out soon to learn some new trails. Just a little more snow and the sleds can come out..

Have a great weekend Crew!!!!.

Good Morning, Crew!.

As I said previously, it's been a crazy, crazy week at work. The good news is, it flew by and here we are at the weekend! The best news is, I've been OP the whole time..

Today's the day we're getting our Christmas tree and I start decorating the house - so I'm decorating my posts, too. I'm going to try and take a page out of Debbie's book and keep it simple. I say this every year, and I've been getting better at it. I just love this season and all the fun decorations - I open the boxes and just can't bear not to put things out..

Unlike Debbie, though, we are having happenings at our house. My sister and her family will be coming from Rhode Island again. This year my niece gets to stay the whole time - last year she was here for an extended weekend. So, I'm looking forward to that..

My 2 cents on reporting exercise - if it's additional activity, then it counts. Take a look at all the different activities you can log as exercise in My Plan...there's everything from making the bed to hugging and kissing, so making an effort to walk 10,000 steps is a YES! Ditto for your PT exercises,.

That's just.

You report as you see fit..

- Have fun on the trails - hope you get more snow to get those sleds out!.

- have you tried the new pretzels? They changed more than the packaging and I don't like them as well. Not as crunchy, they're more airy. The flavor's a little different, too, but that may be texture related. Yes, I'm looking at a blue ribbon week.....

- almost there!! Yes,.

On Barb and Heidi and the rest of the successful maintenance ladies. Follow the transition plan...unfortunately, I know this from experience - the experience of.

Doing all of the above. I have a ways to go yet, but I'll get there again and this time, I'll stay there..

- GREAT NSV!! Good incentive, too. Keep it up!.

- it's probably unrealistic to think we can get together in this busy season, but keep in touch - perhaps a spur of the moment will work. Even a little shopping - sounds like our stores match up..

- Happy shopping! You'll have to get a smart phone so you can still gChat when you're not at work...I'm getting spoiled so texting seems like work.

Waving to the whole crew -.

Have a FABULOUS OP Day!!..

Thinking of you, your DH and your MIL. Keep us updated. Glad the scale was back down closer to where it's supposed to be!.

Sarasotas not far from you. Tell your DH that he needs to come visit our beautiful beaches. Maybe make it a goal trip. On the topic of exercise I started losing weight slowly so I asked the personal trainer section of mf. I was counting walking my dogs as exercise. They said that 45 min of exercise with an accelerated heart rate is really where you need to be to help lose weight.

I actually do have an iPhone! So we can chat when I'm gone you will just have to add my AIM username into gmail!.

Hard for me to find time to post on the weekends lately but I'm OP and did the elliptical Thursday then yoga yesterday & today! Course I'm getting my water in too!..

Happy Saturday crew! Taught my last graduate class for the semester today. Now I can concentrate on some other things. DH is home tonight, so we are going to have a quiet evening..

Saturday: On plan: Yes.

Water: Yes.

Exercise: PT.

Have a great weekend. I will have more time tomorrow..

Melissa, I think you're right about the accelerated heart rate. Today I did over 10,000 steps again but there was no elevated heart rate 'cause I was at work, unless you count the elevated heart rate from being aggravated all day. Just kidding. So OK, I think I won't count it after all unless it is a dedicated exercise session or a dedicated walk around the neighborhood..

OP: no.

Water: yes.

Exercise: no..

I'm having a horrible week! I fell off the wagon on Tuesday and I've been eating as though I had never heard of medifast! I feel so out of control right now. Its so hard to jump back on once you start dragging behind the darn wagon...How do I get back up? I even read the social support section of my medifast book and asked my daughter to ask me "is that the best choice for you mom?" If she sees me eating something I shouldn't. Instead of considering her words I started hiding and eating and now I'm back in the old pattern...

Wow. Beautiful day, awesome runs with the dogs on some new trails. Feel so blessed by everything around me..

Sat stats.

Water, again, barely squeaked out 64.

Exercise52 miles with the dogs. (Ran both teams myself today. No helpers.) About 7 hours of harnessing, hooking up, and riding the atv, which I do standing up ..

Think we'll all take tomorrow off..

Start back one meal at a time. Do breakfast. Then do your mid-morning. Make it through just tomorrow. Tell yourself it's one day..

Then the next day do the same thing..

Good luck..
