Quick question... Is it okay to eat cream cheese on phase 1 of Medifast Diet? Looking forward for any comment. Another quick question... Good Morning Everyone! A word about our group:.

For anyone reading this that doesn't know what a Braveheart is, we all did the Medifast plan about 4 years ago and after a year or maybe 2, we kinda disbanded for various reasons. This was a great group of women though that were bravely fighting the battle of the bulge through laughter and comraderie. We don't judge, we only uplift and just try to generally help each other out through the Medifast plan..

So, if you are a light-hearted person that doesn't take yourself and the world too seriously then this is the spot for you. That being said, we are intent on working the plan and trying to encourage our team-mates to stay OP..

Yep, but... you might wanna make sure and wait for someone else to confirm this as I am not confident. Better yet, why don't you give a call to the Medifast guys because they can give you an answer better...

Hi,.

Since you are re-starting a group of MF'ers that may and or may not have done this before, I was hoping you'd allow me to join up with the Bravehearts. It's hard to jump into a group that's been going for while. I started Medifast in 2007 and I lost 70 pounds in six months, not near goal, but close enough to run amok and I gained it all back. Just need to conquer some demons, figure out why I'm afraid to succeed at this and I'll be all set..

Can't quit trying and I know this works! I am already feeling better and it's only been a few days. I find I need to keep anything that will tempt me out of the house, (bread, ice cream) that way, this is easy..

A little about me,.... I will be married for 40 years this September, we have 2 sons and a daughter and five grandchildren. I was laid off two years ago and now I watch my grandchildren and my son and daughter are nice enough to pay me. (I would do it for free but the money sure helps).

My husband and I own a breakfast/lunch place and are trying to keep our heads above water until the economy turns around. I handle all of the paperwork, payroll, menu design, bill paying ect. He does all the running of the cafe..

As I said before, when my bones feel all the way better, and all this dmnd snow melts,.

). I have a Wii and will try to make that a habit too, but if I use it when the babies are here they want to play or get in the way. I know these are lousy excuses but it's all I can come up with right now..

I learned that moving away from the support here is the first step to allowing myself to backslide and I really need to do this...

Hey Gretchen!!!.

Thanks for starting us off again....Can't tell you how good it feels to be back in the swing of things and to have you with me as well as yoo-hoo ? Denise....?? I know you are reading this LOL. I am hoping that any other BRAVEHEARTS reading this will jump in whether they are at goal,beneath goal, or whatever. "NEW" BRAVEHEARTS always welcome. Like Gretchen said...we are here to encourage each other in the ups and downs,and have afew laughs along the way..

A light hearted sense of humor is required. I know the program front-wards backwards and sideways- I learned from the pros some of which you know (Radiationgirlie). So- you may ask why have I lost and gained. Easy- I did not follow through to transition and naturally fell back into eating too much of the wrong thing and not burning it off. Being accountable to ourselves is so important and I let myself down big time. Who was I kidding when the top button on the jeans would not do up and I started wearing bulky shirts.



Have been back at it a week and am 7 pounds down. I know that the scale may not be so kind in the future but as we know patience is a virture and all good things come to those who wait...

Welcome Cathie....you said onet thing that is so important-you moved away from the support and allowed yourself to backslide. That was me in a nutshell. Forgiving yourself, dusting yourself off and starting again shows strength and determination. We all know you can do it..

We are all living in difficult times but making ourselves "healthy" in the meantime only makes us stronger and able to tackle anything that comes our way..

Back from my dinner party. I did have some wine, but I brought it and I left it with the hostess so I wouldn't be tempted anymore. I did manage to only eat lean and green. Passed the potatoes right up! I only managed to get 4 meals in though..

We are having huge storms. We've gone from ridiculous amounts of snow (for the south at least) to 70 degrees and tornados..

So, I guess I better get off here and say goodnight and hope I don't get blown away!..

Hi Brenda, Nice to meet you! It's snowing here this morning, supposed to turn to rain but I'm hoping not a lot. With all the snow still left I am worried about water in the basement. I don't know how people in flood plains do it. Our's flooded once and it was traumatic! At least to me as an admitted rat packer I had to throw out a bunch of my "junk" as my kids call it. Kids are here already so I have to go make their breakfast, I'll check back in later...

Morning All!.

Cathie...Snow...UUGH! I see you are in MA. You guys have been blasted this year. I live in Nashville, TN and we don't normally get bunches of snow, but this year we've had about 15 inches since Jan 1 and for a town that normally gets MAYBE 2-3 inches a year that is traumatic! We don't have the equipment to get the snow off the streets so everything just shuts down. They have missed so much school they are talking about making up days on Saturdays. The only nice part was a White Christmas which we've not had in 14 years..

Good luck with the water. Nashville was also blessed with a horrific flood last May. It didn't get much National News Coverage because of the Oil Spill but Nashvile is still in recovery mode in many places. The mall closest to my house is still closed and may never reopen..

Brenda...you probably laugh at my snow talk...LOL! I imagine you see lots of snow. Cathie made us a banner. I'll PM you with the URL for it..

I found this on another board and thought it was interesting so I'm sharing. I did check the nutritional board to make sure it was okay and nutrition support says you can use lemon as a condiment so I think 1 drink a day would be appropriate. My pastor has been drinking a "lemon flush" like this as her post cancer dietitian recommended and she has lost like 40 lbs. (she is also following a strict diet too, but she really thinks the lemon drink is a big part of her success):.

Overview.

Consider swapping your standard cup of coffee for a glass of hot water and lemon first thing in the morning, recommends nationally known nutritionist Ann Louise Gittleman, author of "Fat Flush for Life" and other books. The combination can benefit your body in numerous ways, including helping you to lose weight and keep hydrated, improving your digestion and upping your vitamin C intake. You can even spice up this morning drink to boost it's benefits..

Types.

Gittleman recommends combining the juice of half a lemon with 1 cup hot water. If you don't want to squeeze your own lemons, you can substitute 1 tablespoon lemon juice. Make sure to use 100-percent organic lemon juice. You can spice up this drink and further rev your metabolism by adding a pinch of ground cinnamon and a pinch of ground ginger, Gittleman says. Drinking lemon water first thing in the morning stimulates your digestive system, according to Louise Atkinson's "Daily Mail" article, "Lose Weight for Christmas with the Lemon Juice Diet." Effects.

Lemon water cleanses your palate on the way down. Once in your body, it helps to gently flush your kidneys and your liver of wastes and toxins, says Gittleman. It also can help cleanse your lymphatic system, another body system that eliminates toxins..

Significance.

Both lemons and water are on Gittleman's list of fat flush foods. Water helps you stay hydrated. Your body stores more fat when you are dehydrated because your kidneys need help from your liver to function when your body is in this state. This hampers the liver's ability to burn fat. Water also is a natural appetite suppressant. Being dehydrated, in contrast, can cause feelings of hunger.

Lemon also boosts your body's ability to metabolize fat, Gittleman says..

Benefits.

Lemon juice provides a high amount of Vitamin C, notes Atkinson. One lemon gives 30.7 mg vitamin C, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The recommended daily amount is 75 mg for women and 90 mg for men. People who consume more vitamin C have more efficient digestive systems than people who don't. Lemon also increases acidity of your digestive system, which helps you better absorb calcium.

The more calcium in your fat cells, the easier it is to stimulate their burn. Vitamin C also boosts your immune system, helps prevent coronary heart disease, and lowers your risk for stroke, cataracts and gout. This antioxidant vitamin also may help lower cancer risk when consumed via fresh fruits, according to Oregon State University..

Potential.

Adding a tablespoon of lemon juice along with some of the lemon's zest can provide 1,600 oxygen radical absorbency capacity, or ORAC, units to your diet, according to "Women's Health" magazine. An ORAC unit is a measurement developed by the National Institutes of Health to measure a food's antioxidant capacity. The higher the value, the higher the antioxidant benefits, such as fighting cell-damaging free radicals. One antioxidant lemon juice provides is eriocitrin, which may protect against oxidative stress in the liver...

Good-morning ladies....thanks for the banner Cathie! Hope your day is going well....a rain is slowing down. I for one am sick of all the rain we have been getting this year. I would much rather have sun ,cold and blue sky. We did get a rather large dump of snow several times this winter but of course it melts within a few daysThe weather here has really been unpredictable. My son had water in his basement but needs to have the drain-pipe from the roof moved and will solve the problem..

Gretchen- heard about the lemon flush years ago. Have a girlfriend who is following the "Eat Clean" way of eating and she always starts the day with lemon and hot water. Does get things going for sure. I do love my coffee so would have to swig the lemon juice first before grabbing the java..

Glad to hear that you passed on the potatoes Gretchen. Eating out is something that has to be preplanned for sure. I think you may remember me telling you a few years ago about Kathy who went to China for a week and packed up Medifast with her and lost while she was there. What determination!.

Morning Ladies!.

I like my weigh in day to be Sat. So, I weighed this morning to give myself a new set date. I'm down 5lbs already after only 2 days! Yeah!.

I'm about to leave to go get some fresh vege's and get my hair trimmed..

My DH's birthday is tomorrow so we are going out to lunch today with his Mom, my Parents, my Brother and his Children. My SIL and DD are at a Christian Youth Rally/Concert today. We are going to Jim n Nicks which is a BBQ place. I can have chicken, spinich, green beans or a salad. I'll just have to ignore the wonderful cheddar corn muffins they serve..

Then we are off to my neice's BB game and then to Costco. So, got a busy, busy day ahead! Hope everyone has a great day!.

Do you all think I should change our name and put "other's welcome" on there? Still gotta find Denise...

Sounds like you have your day planned-skip the muffin Gretchen as we know they really are not that good at all LOL. I think planning is one of the keys to being successful-don't we know it!.

I think adding that to the Title sounds great Gretchen as newcomers are often reluctant to join a group. I know that Denise is arriving either tomorrow or Monday-right Denise..

The Hubby and are are heading out for coffee, I will have my oatmeal in a cup. Starting the day late here. Its ten in the morning so have to squeeze all the meals in-hey that will not be a problem LOL..

Heard that we are in for a dump of snow in the next few days-I thought that winter was over already. We are having a really weird winter here. Months of rain then is starts to get cold and the snow comes for a few days..

Hello girls,.

I changed my weigh in day to Friday, then if I do end up messing up I have all week to get on track without the scale messing with my head. NOT that I give myself permission to mess up on weekends but you never know what will happen..

I just got dressed, and am thinking of going and getting my hair cut. I never like what I end up with so I sometimes years without getting it cut. Other times I take the scissors and hack it myself..

I downloaded a computer game today to pass the time (not that I shouldn't be cleaning but what fun is that?) and it doesn't work well. Waste of $30.00 bucks since it's probably lack of a good video card making it run slow..

Anyway, we didn't get enough rain to flood the basement but the streets were streaming for a while and though it melted some of the snow, tomorrow we are supposed to get another 2-4 inches of snow so we will be back where we started from!.

I think you should change the title, there a quite a few new girls posting on the hundred or more page and the connections page that could be looking for a home. Lost 8 pounds since restart, so far so good!..

Hey Cathie....my problem is that I weigh every day LOL. If that doesn't mess up someones head nothing will. I used to belong to a group called the "Daily Weighers". I know that it can be hard when you start playing mind games with yourself and I can do plenty of that for sure..

Must be the week for getting the hair done as Gretchen got her's done yesterday and I was the day before that. Sometimes a new "doo" does a body good..

House cleaning has never been a favourite past-time of mine and it's a good thing that the hubby and I share the load. He also loves to cook so am a lucky gal..

Congratulations on the 8 pounds Cathie,t hat is terrific..

Well I agree-we need some more gals on here-will have to advertise LOL!!.

Off to have dinner and watch the "Canucks". We love hockey and they are playing Boston tonight. Am keeping my fingers crossed...
