My question is Is there a way to program password protected files/folders through Yahoo iPage? Thanks in advance for any answer. Another question... I was reading the thread below about SSL, and now I am wondering, if I am going to use Paypal (Web standard or Pro), do I need an SSL cert on my site?.

My thinking is that is should transport the use to Paypal when time to pay comes, so that should use Payapl's SSL shouldn't it?.

TIA..

You betcha! but... you might wanna make sure and wait for another person to confirm this as I am not confident. Better yet, why don't you email the iPage guys because they can help better...

I have just had an ssl cert attached to my iPage site - first time I have done one. at the moment it only shows up on the www.domain.co.uk and not on the www.domain.co.uk/catalog is there any instruction on ssl anywhere that I can use? you cant search ssl in this forum because it's only 3 letter !!.

Cheers..

There is.

This link..

You do have to enable ssl in your configure.php files...

The question to ask yourself is Would I input personal information into a web page that is not secure?..

Thanks for the link, that makes sense !!.

I have edited my files as far as I can tell to the letter as in the instructions but it's not working yet, would you mind just checking over them for me ? .

The catalog/admin/configure.php looks straightforward:.

Define('HTTP_SERVER', 'https://www.gingerbay.co.uk'); // eg,.

- should not be empty for productive servers.

Define('HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.gingerbay.co.uk');.

Define('HTTPS_CATALOG_SERVER', 'https://www.gingerbay.co.uk');.

Define('ENABLE_SSL_CATALOG', 'true'); // secure webserver for catalog module.

But there are some added HTTPS parts on this one relating to cookies ? my catalog/includes/configure.php file :.

Define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://www.gingerbay.co.uk'); // eg,.

- should not be empty for productive servers.

Define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://www.gingerbay.co.uk'); // eg,.

- should not be empty for productive servers.

Define('ENABLE_SSL', true); // secure webserver for checkout procedure?.

Define('HTTP_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'gingerbay.co.uk');.

Define('HTTPS_COOKIE_DOMAIN', 'gingerbay.co.uk');.

Define('HTTP_COOKIE_PATH', '/catalog/');.

Define('HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH', '');.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTP_CATALOG', '/catalog/');.

Define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '');.

As others have said I just need to protect the personal data areas of my iPage site which is at www.gingerbay.co.uk (this is where the cert is installed).

Very many thanks.

Your admin does not need to have 'HTTP_SERVER' and 'HTTP_CATALOG_SERVER' set to https..

The catalog should have 'HTTPS_COOKIE_PATH' set as it is for 'HTTP_COOKIE_PATH'.

That's all I can see...

Thanks have tried that no change - I will double check all the code again!.

Appreciate your help.

For Paypal Pro U need SSL..

For standard You dont..

But an ecommerce iPage site having SSL generates more sales..

Yes, you need one. Paypal's ssl doesn't protect the create account page..
