Is there any iPage web hosting site which offers free hosting & domain name?

My first question is Is there any iPage web hosting site which offers free hosting & domain name? Many thanks for any answer or 2. Another question... Well, while I'm waiting for my other posted question to be answered I will ask another one..

As with the law of physics, there is a law in HTML. If something doesn't work (in HTML), there is a reason. It's not rocket science, but it sure is driving me crazy!.

I have two tables on the same page. They are supposed to be one on top of the other, but they are actually side by side, which creates some major horizontal scrolling issues. How do I get them to stack WITHOUT embedding them?.

I realize everyone would suggest for using only one table, which I may end up doing, but I must know why this doesn't work..

Thanks all, Gandalf..

Yep, but you might wanna make sure and wait for another person to confirm my answer as I am not sure. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the iPage guys because they can answer you better...

Deleted white space in the <td>'s where there were img's.

Deleted unneccessary <br>'s and replace with an invisible gif with the size of 1x1 and then resized with HTML.

I find that ending a paragraph with </p> and starting another one with <p> is enough to create a reasonable vertical gap sometimes. Why not also run your code through.

To find any obvious mistakes...

I ran in through the validator just now and found that I had left out all of the alt="" in the image tags and also one unclosed <div>..

...by the way, I still have the problem and I haven't tried the <p></p> tags yet either..

As entimp asked, we need to see your css as well..

If you have this up on the net anywhere, then giving us the URL is a good start..

Neil..

Ok are you ready for this, very easy fix.........

Take the align="left" out of both tables..

When you have table sthat big you don't need aling in there, hence it goes far to the right...

Well, that helped, but created a new problem..

By removing the two.

Align="left".

Attributes, the second table defaults to the center below the first table as wished. However, the first table at top that includes the iPage site logo also defaults to center and thus breaks up the look of the site..

I can fix this problem by simply making this one table instead of two, but this problem SHOULD have an answer..

Okay, here is the updated link:.

Note: Pay no attention to the horizontal gap directly below the banner ad. The banner created it and won't be a problem since it's just posted there for this problem..

(The source code follows the css file directly below.).

The css for the file is:.

If you didn't specify the align attribute in a table the default is left, not center..

Technically the align attrib is deprecated in a table so you can't use it anyway, but if you do don't put it in the <tr> tag, that is invalid and doesn't belong there..

Now the page you showed in your last post has 3 tables, and you posted only 2, that has teh same problem, you need to take the align=left out of all tables...

Hi-.

Well, I've chosen to just combine the tables and only have which I knew would fix the problem. I will come back and resume this issue as time allows, because I would really like to know how to fix that issue..

As for Scoutt's comment about having 3 tables on the page. That third table is the first table on the page and is created for that banner ad..

Thank you all so much for your help. I will try to address this issue again later in the week if time allows..

One last question is, how do I get a bg image in a td? I already have a bg image for the entire site, so I cant set a second one..

Thanks, Gandalf.

(not spell chekcin it this time...tired, dun care.)..

I told you how to fix it, take the align="left" out of the table tags...

Okay, I did as you suggested and took out the.

Align="left".

From the <table>...and take a look at the attached screenshot. It threw off the page completely, even though the copyright is in the correct place..

Now, I went out and checked for the legal <table> attributes and found the following:.

Align,left,center,right.

Aligns the table. Deprecated. Use styles instead..

(Ref:.

).

So as Scoutt said earlier,.

I use CSS, but am not quite sure how I should set it up for a table. Mind giving me an example of what the CSS should look like?.

Thanks, Gandalf..

Good question as I would like to know as well. without as far as going through and setting the margins I didn't find anything either, I have been looking for a couple of weeks as well..

So the tables aren't ligned up because the tables aren't the same size. that is my guess anyway..

Can I look at the page? do you have a link becasue the one above is broken...

Hi and thanks for your all's perseverance (patience maybe??) on this matter..

Here is an updated link:.

The CSS file can be downloaded here:.

Ty, Gandalf..

Well, you.

Do.

Have valid HTML code:.

(the only errors are in the Geocities server-side added-on pop-up code), but there are some errors in the Coding for the CSS:.

...

Well di dyou change anything? it looks fine to me. well it does have a horizontal scroll to it but it still lines up correctly...

How did you get it to align to the left?.

G..

Just now I changed the <table> width from a fixed pixel width to 100% proportional width and it's fine..

No horizontal scrolling! yeah!.

(updated attachment).

Gandalf..

Thank you!.

As I have this CSS written for text:.

.text.

{.

Text-align: left;.

Letter-spacing: normal;.

Word-spacing: normal;.

Font-family: tahoma, arial;.

Font-weight: normal;.

Font-style: normal;.

Font-size: 103%;.

Text-decoration: none;.

Text-indent: 0px;.

Font-variant: normal;.

Color: white;.

Background-color: transparent;.

}.

How might the CSS look for a table? What are the max possibilities?.

Thanks again, Gandalf..

Max possibilities? well what you have there can work for a table..

You can also set the margins too.

Margin-left: 25px etc....
