Got a question... Jared (Subway) or Kristie Alley (Nutrisystem)? Thanks for any answer or 2. My 2nd question... So... guys get an extra carb. That's that the glitterati (women of NS) keep saying..

I looked at it... twice....

A Nutrisystem bar or desert is around 120-160 calories..

1 pear is 60 calories..

15 grapes is 60 calories..

If I am eating my fruits (which have a higher water content making you feel more full) why would I add another carb? granted, if I do this substitution twice in a day I lose 120 calories, but is that an issue? Isn't it better to "eat raw?"..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an decent answer. You should email the people at Nutrisystem as they probably could assist you..

Agreed. Especially when starting out, best to follow the program as outlined for a period of time before you start experimenting and adjusting. And I really would recommend speaking to one of the nutrition counselors. They aren't medical personnel but they have a pretty good handle on the program...

I went back and looked over the plan....

I can add:.

Breakfast: Oatmeal.

Morning Snack: 1oz chicken or non-fat cheese.

Lunch: Vegetable.

Dinner: Nuts of my choice (almonds, peanuts...).

Those will add to my caloric intake and get me to 1400..

I will add those in as my body tells me... I do understand that I'm low at the moment and that in maintenance I will need to be higher than that... I'll add them in as my hunger factor allows..

Right now, I'm actually eating until I'm full. Weird...

Easy and good carb for add-ons: 1 slice Arnold Double Protein bread. It's tasty! I have one every morning w/breakfast and every evening w/dinner. Like you, I skip a lot of snacks. If I get hungry before bed, I'll do one or two of them. Don't forget to count your nuts! All nuts are not created equal. Walnuts are good.

Peanuts not so much..

I see several mistakes already..

1) listening to the women.

2) you're way over thinking this..

I'm with Gordons line of thought that suggest everyone find what works for them because we're all different. That goes for diet and exercise. You just started the plan, why not see how it works for you before trying to tailor it. I see folks trying to milk the system all the time trying to get faster results and while I understand the sentiment this isn't a race. Might or might not apply here to your situation but that's my two cents...

If you get down to your goal weight faster than you gained up to your starting weight you are way ahead of the game. This isn't a sprint, it's a marathon...

You can convert the carbs to fruits. Or even the fruits into veggies. I once daisy chained such a conversion and had 200 calories of carrots in place of two slices of bread for the day. Not recommended...hurt my tummy. sharp carrots poking...

I highly recommend sticking to the plan. They have really man proofed this making it so you do not have to over think it..

Men do get two carbs a day if we have less than 100#'s to loose. We get a carb at breakfast and at dinner. I know my DW keeps complaining about this as she does not get any carbs except when we have the burgers and then the women get a hamburger bun...
